To behold a Farer Universal watch in person is to relish the micro and macro decisions their designers have seized to urge their incomparable timepieces into the world. The Cayley Verde Automatic pilot watch is no exception. The incised cross-hair green sunburst dial is full of depth and saturation, and playfully interacts with all kinds of light, lending a highly legible foundation for the California-style dial to function in all conditions. A polychromatic palette of lume dazzles in the dark with an interplay of warm and cool glow-points that last well into the night. For that reason, this is my go-to watch fro traveling, as it also serves well as a bedside clock as well as a rugged adventure companion. It has joined me to Europe and along secluded estuaries via kayak, boasting a Faraday Cage for antimagnetic reliance, and an adequate 5ATM water-resistant body for exploring without concern for weather or wet terrain. The dial takes up an extraordinary amount of real-estate within the body, appearing much larger than its 39mm terrain would suggest, and vibrates at a smooth 28800. Though I have not measured its accuracy with a device, while running this piece non-stop for 3-weeks in Paris, by the end of the journey it was no more than 40-seconds fast per/3-week timespan: not per-day, but per-3 weeks!) Clarity with a touch of vidid poetry: that sums up this adventurous gem named after an early English aviation engineer. I can't speak more highly of a timepiece that wears as well on my 6.25" wrist as it does in my esteem.
