The Sirna from STREHLER, first model of the small brand of the independent Andreas Strehler.

40mm in diameter for 8.5mm thick with a 22mm between lugs. The watch is designed to be a discreet daily watch that goes with just about everything, from jeans and a t-shirt to a 3-piece suit.

A 3-hand watch that is quite classic in its operation, but with a design and production entirely made within the factory in German-speaking Switzerland. The movement, SA-30, has finishes that I personally love, in particular the hand-beveled gold rotor.

The dial is the star here, machined grade 5 titanium, laser engraved, hand-polished and finally anodized in blue. A fairly vibrant color, the dial pattern is very changeable depending on the light, going from shiny to matte.

The case is thin and well finished, with concave sides and a bevel in the between lugs. It is a basic case construction with case middle, case back and bezel, all in 316L for 3 ATM.

The watch comes with a grained calfskin strap between taupe and light brown which is very comfortable. Equipped with quick-change bars, it is very easy to change the strap with another color if necessary, I opted for gray and blue suede.

I can only recommend this piece which combines a lot of know-how with small quantity production (about 50 pieces per year) and top quality. My first jump into the world of independents! And the advantage with these small independents is that you can visit the factory directly, I was able to pick up the watch on site which adds to the emotional connection with this piece.

Daily watch between balance and beauty

A watch spotted in a shop window while walking around town. Instant love at first sight. I immediately fell in love with the dial, case, complication... everything in fact!
The watch is an AP from the 80s with an 18K yellow gold case in very good condition. The white enamel dial is quite soft and fine. The day and date functions are a little extra that I really like, especially since it's a piece that you rarely see.
The 33.5mm diameter fits perfectly on my small wrist, and the thickness of the watch of less than a centimeter makes it a very good daily watch.
The only problem, being a vintage, the rapid correction of the day and date was not yet commonplace, so the adjustment is quite particular, but that's what makes vintage so charming.

The Time Shadow is a watch created by Andreas Strehler, a renowned independent watchmaker. This model is limited to 8 pieces. It is also the only model in the collection that is offered with a steel case and not in precious metals. The so-called "cocoon" shape (a sort of barrel shape) is surprisingly pleasant to wear despite my rat wrists. The time display is quite special, with a disk that displays the hours, and the hand that displays the minutes. The dial is made of titanium, with an orange Lumicast pellet under the hour disk. The finishes are obviously exemplary, an alternation of hand chamfering and satin microblasting offers a beautiful depth and a beautiful contrast to the movement. This model serves as an entry-level for an Andreas Strehler watch, even with its 56,000 CHF which remains a substantial budget, we are still far from the other creations of the watchmaker.

A limited series from a renowned independent

Very happy with this YachtMaster 37. This is my first Rolex. I really liked the design of the submariner, but I consider it the "basic" model that can easily be seen almost everywhere. So I opted for this YachtMaster in 37mm (16cm wrist, so more suitable than the 40mm). I haven't seen any other so far, which I appreciate, it gives me the impression of having a watch that is a little less common. I find the bracelet very pleasant, both in terms of comfort and aesthetics. The alternation of polished and satin has its effect.

The watch is adaptable to almost any outfit, and in summer the gray dial is magnificent.

Pretty, rare and comfortable

When a watch enthusiast plans his marriage proposal 9 months in advance and knows that his sweetheart will want to give him a watch as an engagement gift, that leaves him plenty of time to choose the perfect watch... 

The initial criteria: A dress watch from an iconic brand, an 18k yellow gold case (to match the future wedding ring) and a budget of €5k. 

Wanting a model that is not seen everywhere, I start by falling for a Cartier Cristallor, a model in the USA is almost in the budget, but it is sold and the others are out of budget. 
My mind remains in the "rare" models from Cartier, a tilting tank catches my eye. But the gold model is out of budget and the steel one is too far from my ideal. 
I go through a few Vacheron Constantin Patrimony, Blancpain Villeret or even other Cartier Santos Dumont, all beautiful but too "simple", not that little thing that makes me dream. 

While trying on a Santos Moonphase, I remember that I no longer have a moon phase since selling my Frédérique Constant Classique Heart Beat Moonphase Date a year earlier. 

I like mechanical watches, complications and especially the moon phase. 

My search then focuses on a moon phase. And I come across the perfect model for me: Audemars Piguet Day-date Moonphase: 
- Ultra-thin automatic Jaeger movement with triple complication 
- 18k gold 
- A diameter of 33mm that absolutely does not stand out on my 180mm wrist. 

So I spend weeks watching the models to try to stick to the budget. 
When I come across the best deal: 
In a luxury second-hand store in Paris. Above budget but with the very rare 18k gold double folding clasp from AP, as well as an AP bracelet in good condition in blue cayman. 

I crack and after a little negotiation we fall to 6k€. 

After 1 year in my collection I absolutely do not regret my choice, nor having taken the time to find the right one. Despite its questionable precision, which is noticed when you leave it for more than a week on the winder, it is magnificent. 
It knows how to be discreet and even forget itself on the wrist by its finesse and its reduced weight. 
But it also knows how to be outrageous when a neophyte asks what it is! 

Small downside, this magnificent double folding clasp is so rare, that Audemars no longer knows how to design these bracelets. Having gained a little weight and the size not being adjustable upwards, I was forced to have a magnificent green cayman bracelet made by the Atelier du Bracelet Parisien.
