This is a kickstarter released in limited edition.
I stumbled upon it completely by chance and discovered this small Australian brand.
I fell for the automatic model on Seiko NE88 (there was the same model in quartz meca), a movement that I also knew on other watches that I own.
The overall manufacturing quality is pretty good, special mention for the very flexible calfskin strap, pleasant to wear and original with its orange edging. The gear/chevron shaped crown is very original and easy to handle. I will simply put a downside on the quality of the alloy used for the case because it scratches *very* easily.

For those who have never practiced, I personally find that it is a very interesting alternative to the eternal 7750.
It is very smooth to trigger and the oscillating weight is discreet to the wearer.
To talk about the watch itself, I am amazed for this price level to have such finishes (alternating polished / brushed on the case, signed buckle, beautifully made leather strap, transparent back, sapphire crystal, weight signed william L).
What more could you ask for?...

A column wheel auto chrono for less than €500

This version was born from a collaboration with Hodinkee on a base of 500 models spread over 5 x 100 copies per livery.
The model that I present here is a version 037 close to the color combinations of the team sponsored by Olio FIAT.
The midnight blue background and the orange-yellow hands create a very particular and unusual atmosphere in watchmaking.
The choice was made on this small series to use a Sellita SW510MB hand-wound mechanical movement.
The finishes of the case and bracelet are as always very neat and above all vary completely in terms of treatment and color from one livery to another.
For such a small production, the effort is remarkable.


A beautiful chrono evolution of Group B

First of all, if you hope to find one I wish you a lot of courage because they are rare.
They were released at the time in only 500 copies (250 white background / 250 black background).
This is the very first automatic model sold by Autodromo with the particularity of using a Miyota 821A movement.
We can see that the founder has the art of detail, since he goes so far as to have an engraved weight produced by the Autodromo factory and also works the case back with shapes inspired by the automobile of the 60s.
The real twist on this model is obviously the red area painted under the glass to emphasize the kinship with the automobile.
It is very pleasant to look at, to wear, although quite imposing in diameter. On the other hand, the thickness is contained and allows it to be hidden under a shirt if necessary.

For me, this is a beautiful modern reinterpretation of a pilot's chronograph based on a proven 7750 movement (I also had a Steinhart Nav B Chrono in the same spirit to compare)
The price-quality ratio is excellent - at the time it was worth €1,300/1,400 new (I think it is unfortunately over €1,700 now).
The only small criticism is that the strap is clearly not up to par, so I replaced it with an original Farer model.
The chronograph is perfect to use with very easy-to-handle pushers and a very pleasant crown to use.
On mine, I had taken the engraved oscillating weight option as well as the Archimedes folding clasp.
I highly recommend it.

A REAL pilot's watch

The bellytanker is special because it is inspired by the automobile and aviation at the same time.
Indeed, we are talking here about a chronograph that takes up the record races of the 50s (bellytanker = aircraft tank recycled into cars intended for racing).
It is a 41 case, but with the contrasts and materials used it seems more imposing. The brown leather strap and the copper/gold background contribute strongly to the vintage look. In the photo, I was not convinced, but in real life it is very nice.

When Bell&Ross draws inspiration from automobiles and aviation

The monoposto is a reinterpretation of a 3-hand model released a few years ago but this time on a Seiko NE88 movement base. What is interesting is that this movement has a column wheel - rare for this price range. The watch is quite imposing but therefore VERY readable. The blue/yellow color is very original and catches the eye - and will not be seen on all wrists because it is limited to 100 copies. The automotive inspiration is clear, down to the smallest detail (eg: the bracelet buckle which is built like the buckles of the hood straps of competition cars)

What can I say about this special Group B Night Stage II series ... except that getting it was already worthy of a Group B event :-). It is a perfect summary of the 80s with its geometric shapes, the Digit, K2000 style screen printing ... and company. The integrated bracelet is very pleasant to wear even though I hate metal bracelets. It is quite possible to also adapt NATO / rally car harness type bracelets with the "Autodromo" label. The only small remark concerning the readability of the time, it takes a little time to adapt to the second hand vs the other hands :)

I discovered Autodromo thanks to the Stradale and am now bitten by the bug. Autodromo is inspired by the best years and models of the automobile with a capital A... like Autodromo. If you like Italian cars, this brand will necessarily remind you of many small details of the Veglia Borletti counters, the hood fasteners, the embossed leather of the seats. All this done with brilliance and discretion by its founder Bradley Price. An industrial designer but above all a collector of beautiful mechanics. To come back to this Stradale, it is a perfect compromise between originality and discretion. Let me explain, seeing it from afar you take it for a standard 3-hand watch, and it can totally match a shirt - on the other hand, if you get a little closer, you can see all the work that has been done with a dial that seems to float with a relief and transparency effect, very original horns and a bracelet that is just as original with a superb embossed Italian leather. The movement is not left out with a very reliable and discreet myota 9015.

Hello,

Taking advantage of a very good offer on the Hodinkee website during the "flash sales", I am now the happy owner of this Autodromo Group B limited series.

I have been looking for a chronograph for a while, the choice is quite wide today and it is difficult to make a choice.

However, I wanted to get away from the "diving" or "aviation" theme a little.

First of all, concerning the purchase on the Hodinkee website, I am quite satisfied with the experience, only one downside, the packaging for shipping, relatively light, the watch box was really not secured in the cardboard.

When worn it is relatively light, it fits my small 17.5cm flat wrist well, the bracelet is quite easy to adjust. I still removed 6 links.
The push buttons are a little hard to start and stop the chronograph, but as I am not too used to chronographs, this does not shock me.
The winding of the movement is very smooth.

A quick test for the lume, it is not a diver so do not expect to have a headlight on your wrist. I still find it quite nice, the inscriptions on the tachometer part as well as the needles and the railway, give the impression of having a neon-type lighting which is really not unpleasant.

Now remains to be seen in time, this one will complete my collection for a little while.

In short, it is a pleasure purchase, especially since I have a chrono version of the Group B collection for less than the three-hand version currently in the catalog.
