The Mido Ocean Star is a diver's watch with a rather sober but also modern design that has its own charm. With its rectangular indexes instead of the more common circles and its atypical hands, it stands out from the majority of divers on the market. The brand being part of the Swatch group, the movement that equips it is the caliber 80 (for 80 hours of power reserve), derived from the ETA 2836-2, it proves to be very precise on a daily basis. The day and date windows are rather discreet because with a black background just like the dial. Its diameter is 42mm, it would have been better I think to start on 40mm, indeed, the 49mm horn to horn and a straight profile caseband can lead to a perception of a rather imposing watch for smaller wrists. I have the version on black rubber which has an adjustable folding clasp. The only drawback related to this, a buckle that is wider. In summary, a well-finished diver, at a fair price and which stands out for its different design.

A diver with a simple and modern design

The khaki pilot in 38mm version is a discreet watch with a very good quality/price ratio. This day/date version has a 2836-2 caliber that proves to be precise and the 200m water resistance even allows it to play the adventurer. Despite the presence of a sapphire case back, the thickness is contained and allows you to admire the movement. This steel version has an 18mm lug width and a folding clasp of the same width. Several holes allow for finer adjustment to adapt it to your wrist. A well-finished watch for an affordable price and very good precision, what more could you ask for?

A pilot's watch in a contained diameter

The TAG Heuer Aquaracer is a special watch for me because it was with an old version of this model that I began to take an interest in watchmaking. This evolution of the model is, I find, very successful with its characteristically shaped case, Tag having even pushed the detail to the point of working on the shape of the indexes. The watch is thin despite its 43mm diameter and this contributes greatly to making it well proportioned. The dial is well worked with its horizontal lines and the same patterns continue on the bracelet in the rubber version. The circular magnifying glass is original even if it does not add much in my opinion, the difference with other watches is that this magnifying glass is located under the glass. The rubber strap with folding clasp is rather qualitative and offers a very appreciable micro adjustment. An endearing and unique watch.
