Kollokium Projekt-01 Owner Review : Surgical, luminous and innovative

This watch is not a watch, just as Kollokium is not a brand. Moreover, even the three passionate friends behind Kollokium do not want to be associated with the term "watchmaker": "Kollokium may be a lot of things (at least we like to think so), but a watchmaker isn't one of them." This watch is actually a project, which dares to shake up classic watchmaking codes by giving a three-dimensional aspect to the dial. It is composed of 468 indexes (of 6 different heights) set and hand-painted with a green Super-Luminova (each variant has its own color) and the whole is covered by a cube-shaped sapphire dome. The whole is fascinating in its details and does not give the impression of looking at a watch but a miniature city! The resemblance is all the more striking at night when each index lights up, just like an active city in the middle of the night... simply sublime! The rest of the watch is just as well crafted, the steel case is slightly grainy and matte, which gives it the impression of being made of titanium. The lugs are quite pointed and hollowed out, which I find gives a futuristic look to the watch. The triangular crown (reminiscent of the 3 friends) fits perfectly into this structure formed of curves and edges. The strap is designed in an elastic textile that allows the watch to be precisely adjusted to the wrist, which gives the watch significant comfort. The green second hand brings the "fun" touch that was missing from this watch, which is quite monochrome during the day. For me, this watch is a real success, whether for its brutalist and minimalist appearance, as well as for its stylistic innovation while it is "only" a simple traditional three-hand watch.
