I am delighted to wear the Mu:n number 11 blue background for a little over a week now. The midnight blue of the dial is hypnotic, the opening that constitutes the moon phase with the starry sky where the moon poetically walks is slightly lighter which makes the whole harmonious. The beauty attracts the eye on the wrist of both men and women, this is good its proportions are contained and will be suitable for all wrists.

From the earth to the moon

I have always appreciated watches in the style of the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak. Unable to afford one, I was seduced in 2016 by Michael Seals' crowdfunding project around the Seals Model A (slate model). If I remember correctly, the explanation of the shape of the case draws its inspiration from the look of American tanks from the 1940s. The watch has a nice presence on the wrist with a width of 41 mm and a thickness of 12 mm. The movement is basic but efficient with a Miyota 9015. I was delighted to wear it well before the current hype around PRX style models or others with integrated bracelets.

My first AP style watch

The brand MU:N comes from a collaborative program launched on Kickstarter in 2022 by Thibault Jungbluth and Victor Schouder. MU:N has the concept of offering a new way to participate, influence and follow the entire process of watchmaking creation by co-creating with its community a collection of Moon phase watches. More than 5,500 people participated in the co-creation of the brand's first models.
MU:N offers an ephemeral collection of 3 "Creators" models, Number 11, Number 15 and Number 29 equipped with the Swiss Made Sellita automatic caliber SW288-1a, as well as a permanent collection called "Origine 51" available in automatic version automatic movement or quartz, in steel or gold PVD and with blue and red details.
Note that at the beginning of 2024, the Origine 51 collection was renamed Artemis 51 and presents a new limited series version with a smoke blue dial called Artemis 51 Blue Edition.

I have been following Mu:n, a young French brand, closely since their launch on Kickstarter a year ago, and I find their bet to democratize the moon phase, courageous and inspiring. I waited several months before receiving my watch and I am impressed by the result: 

The case is not thick and highlights the 38 mm dial. The watch is very light and fits my small wrist perfectly. 

The design is very successful, the dial is refined, and the disc is modern, which I particularly appreciate. The craters and the Milky Way give a level of detail that is astonishing. 

As for the movement, the golden oscillating weight sublimates the finishes of the SW288 caliber. It is worthy of fine watchmaking in my opinion. 

Finally, I had the opportunity to talk with the founders of this French initiative, always very available and transparent, both on their collaborative projects and on the communication of deadlines. I wish this young team and the ongoing Ariane project much success!

Elegance and Innovation

Joining a creative and entrepreneurial adventure led by a young and dynamic team motivated me just as much as the exceptional delicacy and poetry of the models offered. I was lucky enough to be able to acquire the Créateur model number 11, copy 106/150, and it was a delight when I received it. The iridescent midnight blue dial gives a beautiful depth to the moon phase support and to the moon itself. The moon stands out in slight relief from the support dotted with stars reflecting the Milky Way. The back of the watch is just as beautiful with a rotor finely engraved with different tarot patterns. The Créateur series is a limited series, but I can only advise you to acquire a model from the Origine series, they are just as magnificent.

The brand Ollech &amp; Wajs was created in 1956 by Joseph Ollech and Albert Wajs in Zurich, Switzerland.
