The trendy cell phone that my bar boss was desperate to have was the Samsung D500 and it just so happens that Samsung had offered me one, as a reward for a commercial challenge...
All that remained was to find common ground... It was this Omega constellation. A good deal for him at the time, an excellent deal for me today 😅.

My first watch

The Omega Constellation, a vintage watch that I love so much because it combines fine line, elegance and discretion. 
The particularity of the constellation is the large number of bracelets and shapes that have been given to it. One of these is this octagonal shape that I cannot categorize. My fiancée, an interior designer, saw it on one of my auction searches and convinced me of its unique design. I decided to restore it and I think it will remain in my collection for a while. This one is a 1982 version, sold in Ghent, Day & Date with a beautiful deep gray dial.

Its state of conservation is remarkable for a watch of + 50 years and especially in 18k gold...
This piece is just beautiful, elegant. Its curve and finesse have a lot to do with it and of course it shines brightly in the slightest ray of sunshine..

I have this superb Omega Constellation ref168.029. This watch is certified Chronometer and was born in 1968. The design of this "C-shape" was drawn by the famous Gérald Genta who was able to design the famous AP Royal Oak or even the Nautilus. This Omega has a fluted bezel in white gold. It is this alloy of material that made me fall in love. Also the indexes, the logo and the star which are applied. The diameter of this watch is 35mm.

Omega Constellation 

I just bought this watch a few days ago. I am particularly fond of the so-called "linen" or "frosty" dial. Many speculate on the lineage of the C shape constellation models with the famous Gérald. G, but I admit that this is of little importance to me. For me, it represents the quintessence of 60s / 70s design at Omega. A very sober case, very fine indexes, a discreet date, not to mention the contained diameter of around 35 mm. A great elegance and finesse (literally and figuratively) which are -- in my opinion -- largely responsible for its charm. Its "brick" bracelet is by far the most comfortable (steel) that I have tried so far, it reminds me of the great era of Gay Frères bracelets, although this one is not one. Every time I look at the watch, it gives me an indescribable emotion, something I have never experienced before in my career as a young collector. My first Omega and certainly not the last.

Omega constellation 168.017 SP

My first OMEGA bought after a first permanent contract! I wanted to mark the occasion with a two-tone watch and the constellation has always caught my eye with its integrated bracelet, its solid gold bars (on this model in any case) and its generous brushed / shiny gold bezel which gives an overall shine (icing on the cake, the inside of the bezel - dial side) is also in gold, which gives a little more shine to the overall appearance. The bracelet is integrated, which is also a positive point now that I know a little more about watches. The additional detail is the dial of this watch, formed of small white diamonds, which gives it a certain relief and color variations depending on the angle and the brightness (this can go from snow white, to gray, to gold). Finally, the weight of the watch on the wrist is not negligible, which gives a certain general comfort. The butterfly folding clasp allows the watch to stay in place on the wrist (it perfectly matches the oval of the bottom of the wrist, which prevents the watch from turning). I don't wear this watch daily, but it's a real pleasure to put it back on the wrist. Oh yes, with its co-axial system with 2 barrels, it has a power reserve of 2 days and a few, which is practical! In short, I love it!

My first OMEGA

This little Constellation from the 70's is equipped with the 711 caliber, which gives it incredible finesse and incomparable wearing pleasure, it's quite simple, you don't feel it on your wrist. I've always been attracted to these atypical designs, here I find it elegant, and this extraordinary dial that changes color depending on the light and its orientation completely seduced me.

My grandfather's legacy. The only thing I have left of him, along with memories. A watch that sat in a drawer for 10 years after his death in 2011, and which I really thought would never restart. The fault was the battery of those damned quartz movements that had leaked... a magician watchmaker sorted it out for me for free, otherwise it would have been back to Omega or more precisely in the drawer... a watch in his image, fine and elegant. He was not materialistic or a watch lover. I remember when I saw him arrive with it on his wrist, in the mid-1990s, he must have been almost 70 years old. A little late pleasure for someone who had known deprivation during the war. I like the finesse and refined sobriety of this Constellation, the great comfort offered by its integrated bracelet and its thickness of 6mm. The full Day Date dials stand out nicely and proportionately against the white enamel dial. This is not exactly my style of watch, as I like rather sporty and automatic watches. It will remain a watch for one man, the one whose images I see again when I look at it or wear it.

Omega Constellation Manhattan Day Date quartz

Happy owner of a more discreet Omega Constellation Marine... I really like this Omega quartz series (caliber 133X) for its finesse and its refined style very 70s type integrated bracelet. It is a constant in my collection and it finds a good place there. It is a very pleasant watch to wear because of its finesse and its discreet style even if it is made of 750/000 gold. Note that it is equipped with the caliber 1333 (Chronometer certified) an outdated label - even incomprehensible nowadays - for a quartz watch. And yes, there was a time when quartz watches were - rightly - considered both precise and noble in terms of chronometry. Quartz technology almost killed the mechanical watch industry in 10 years for better and for worse with the revival of the 90s. This watch is a vestige of an era when quartz was intended to be more precise and not cheaper. The materials and feel of this Omega Constellation are absolutely fantastic!

My first two-tone watch

If you haven't noticed, I'm a fan of the Omega brand! The reason is simple and illustrated by this watch, an Omega Constellation that looks nothing like the other Constellations! That's the charm of vintage Omega, fantastic looks that you don't expect!

The rectangle watch is not something easy! The Dunhill Facet is the only other rectangle watch in my collection with this Constellation. For the record, I found it at auction on Jauce, the Japanese auction site, then my wife wanted it and a few weeks later it arrived 😎 Quite tired, but I had planned to send it to a watchmaker specializing in these "old" Omegas. Before that, my wife and I realized that this model - for men - could not be adjusted to the size of her wrist! If you look at it closely, it is trapezoidal in shape, unsuitable for fine adjustments... Good news in the end, I kept it for myself as planned.

The drawn-line dial is magnificent and goes perfectly with the same drawn lines on the case. The two Omega logos in appliques (very 70s) give it the pep that it would have lacked with its dominant silver gray... This Omega Genève joins my Omega collection and in particular the Omega Genève integrated bracelet which sports the same type of dial.

➡️ The construction of the case is also very original because the movement is housed in a cell that unscrews (4 screws) on the back of the watch, like some Omega Genève or Omega Dynamic. I have not found - if you have any information, I am interested - a leather strap suitable for this removable cell. Regarding price, we are on a full cost price of €600 including the watch, sales costs and reconditioning.

One of my rare rectangle watches

This Omega Constellation 35 mm was my first watch acquisition. Seduced by its case and especially by its "integrated" type bracelet, I like this mix between the "mirror" effect rose gold and the brushed steel. Although a little heavy, once on the wrist you forget its presence. It must be said that it is rather discreet with its concise diameter, which I find to be judicious in two-tone because less "flashy" than the diameters of 39 or 42 ... Its dial, sunburst white, and its applied rose gold indexes capture the light in a sublime way and elegantly dress my wrist over the seasons. On a daily basis I still wear it less frequently than other watches, the fault of the presence of gold which gives it, despite its small diameter, an elitist and expensive connotation. As for the caliber, it holds up, it is robust, rather precise (COSC certification), and decorated without more. In short, a watch that I like and that I recommend to fans of integrated bracelets (and two-tone) who are looking to get off the beaten track, but not as a first watch...
