Every year, in class photos, the most popular students often stand out; those who attract attention and who will be the center of conversation throughout the year. And then there are the others, some of whom are no less deserving or less interesting but who, without really knowing why, will remain in the shadow of their contemporaries. The same goes for watches. The Omega Railmaster is one of them. In the class photo from 1957, it is photographed next to its cousins, the Speedmaster and Seamaster. The same year, the Hamilton Ventura becomes electrified and Breitling releases its Superocean. With each of its reissues, the curse will continue and the Railmaster will continue its journey in the shadow of the stars of the moment, what an injustice! A simple three-hand watch, the Railmaster Master Chronometer does little but it does it very well. Reading the time is instantaneous and requires no effort; its coaxial caliber, with a 55-hour power reserve, certified by METAS, meets the highest standards of precision and resistance to magnetic fields. Water-resistant to 150 meters with a screw-down crown, it is not at all afraid of water and its fully brushed case forgives even the small scratches of everyday life. The latest version of the Railmaster Master Chronometer (released in 2018 and now no longer in production), with its finely vertically brushed "denim" blue dial, particularly appealed to me when I acquired it in 2022. Unfairly overlooked, it is nevertheless a perfect everyday companion. I hope that my post will give it some of the homage and glory it deserves.
