Passionate about watches and the America's Cup, I once owned the 2013 model that was stolen from me during a burglary... At the time, it was impossible to find this model, which was in a limited series. In 2017, Omega created a new model dedicated to the famous cup, but it was disappointing in terms of aesthetics... So, when this model came out in 2021 (for the 36th edition of the race), I seriously considered it. But in the meantime, the price had doubled!!! This can certainly be explained by Omega's new manufacturing and finishing quality and by the METAS certification, but still, it stings!! I thought about it, took some time (because this one was in a special edition and not a limited series) and ended up telling myself that I would wait... But that was without counting on my wife and my 50th birthday which was approaching. She tells me that if I really like it, I have to take it, that it will make me forget my stolen watch. Without further ado, I make a "marble table of the past" and place the order. Since then, I hardly wear my other watches anymore. When models catch my eye in the shop windows, I put them on my wrist, but no matter, they all seem boring to me, this Seamaster has so much personality. Of course its generous dimensions (Ø44mm and 17.2mm thick) can be scary, but with its short lugs and its first female link, it fits well on my 17.5cm wrist. In the chronograph version, the chrono pushers and, on this version, the Chrono Lock located on the left (locking system for the chrono pushers) create a balance with the famous helium valve that is so much criticized (even if I find that it contributes to the charm and personality of the watch). It remains heavy with its steel bracelet, and comfort is not its strong point, but I like to feel the watches on my wrist, it stops me from banging them against walls and forgetting them. Note that it comes with a blue rubber strap which considerably lightens the weight of the whole thing. Finally, what can I say about the precision: the METAS sheet provided indicates 1.2 sec/day and this turns out to be exact, I never reset it, even to switch to summer or winter time, because its mechanism allows you to change the hours without touching the minutes and without stopping the seconds. This makes it very easy to make a GMT. In short, you will have understood, I almost never take it off...
