My story with the Grey Side of the Moon, or “GSotM,” begins when I “accidentally” visited an Omega boutique. The main feature that cannot be ignored is the color of the ceramic case. Although described as “gray” in the title, I personally have a hard time considering the color as such; instead, I find it tones of coffee brown, with occasional hints of vermilion. The use of ceramic, and platinum for the dial, makes this Speedmaster GSotM enigmatic to me. It is difficult to pin down, and I would not recommend it to anyone looking for a first watch. It is, in my opinion, ideally suited to environments full of in-betweens: half-casual and half-formal, or half-light-colored, half-dark-colored, or half-understated, half-extravagant. The dimensions of the case do indeed make this Grey Side of the Moon relatively visible on the wrist, but its streamlined design, and the use of two domed lenses, make it easily wearable on the wrist of Mr. and Mrs. Everyman –– the GSotM looks great on a woman’s wrist.
