The Omega Speedmaster Mark II was launched in the late sixties with 2 dial variations: 1- Regular black  Moonwatch dial and 2- Futuristic Racing dial in medium grey with red and orange accents. The Racing dial is also know as the “Exotic” dial. The case is chunky with its tonneau shape and hidden lugs, the bracelet shows a beautiful taper from 20mm down to 16mm, the tachymeter is applied underneath the mineral glass.  Other than the dial, everything else on this Mark II is identical to the black version.  The Speedmaster Mark II is for people who want an Omega Speedmaster with a seventies twist.

For my 50th birthday, I wanted a special watch so I decided to go with an Omega Moonwatch. The recently discontinued model (caliber 1861) was in production for over 20+ years so a large number of them is out there.  The most recent iteration (caliber 3861), with its new bracelet, became too dressy for my liking and lost its tool watch looks.  It’s like comparing a Rolex on Oyster vs Jubilee….  The Omega “Tintin” was produced for only 2 years so it’s empirically rare.  I like the “If you know, you know” factor!

My speedmaster mark 2 is just sublime, I fell in love with it from day one, a mythical watch that could have gone to the moon 🌙 but due to lack of time to test it, NASA preferred the speedmaster icon '' despite everything it had all the stats for a special flight and even much more of the requested criteria ''' in short, a captivating watch

She is divine

It is a 1970 Speed Mark II extracted from the archives. I bought it as is with its original dial and its bracelet, in average condition after a restoration that was not done, it is also my fault, it was completely redone. It works wonderfully. Its caliber is an 861. With the particularity of having the chrono brake in Delrin. Its bracelet is new and it is quite rare to find one. There are some left, go see on eBay.

The Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch has always been a goal and when the time came to buy one... I had a blockage in front of all the versions of the Moonwatch, the one that interested me! Too much choice, subtle or even invisible differences, it seriously pissed me off, until I discovered another way, different but just as historic, well almost. This Mark II is finally - with a little provocation - the true descendant of the Moonwatch, the one that came out when Omega thought it had finished with the historical saga of the moon landing. History will contradict all plans and the Moonwatch will take off like the Porsche 911 took off when we thought it was dead with the arrival of the Porsche 924! Who remembers the 924? Not many people anymore... as not many people are interested in this Speed! I must admit that the YouTube channel Dialicious also has something to do with it and in particular Pei who came to present this same Speed with the Racing dial. I had the ambition and naivety to buy the same as Pei, but I clearly didn't have the budget! Here is the beautiful, different, historic in another form and especially historic for me.
