After rocking my Heuer Daytona, which was kind of my way of going against the grain and poking fun at my Rolex-loving buddies, I stumbled on this Speedmaster that’s totally different from the Moonwatch. It’s an automatic model, bursting with colors that scream late '70s to early '80s vibes. You’ve still got those iconic lyre lugs from Huguenin Frères cases and the tachymeter bezel, so it’s got that Speed DNA. But beyond that, this watch is totally its own thing—way off the beaten path. Super comfy and problem-free for the first six years on my wrist. I gotta admit, it really catches the eye of my watch-loving friends. After doing some digging, I found out the movement is apparently a variation of the Valjoux 7750 (Omega 1151), so yeah, you can sleep easy wearing this one. This watch is part of the Speedmaster story, just not the Moonwatch chapter. To me, it’s a perfect example of Omega’s wild range—something for everyone, depending on your vibe. Is it too many variations, to the point of losing focus? Or is it Omega’s creative genius, constantly pushing a classic forward? Next up for me: tracking down the original bracelet. It’s like missing the nose on a face—gotta fix that! Guess I’ve got my hunt lined up for the next few months.
