This version of the Orient Bambino 40mm Beating Heart is the little sister of the Seiko Presage. Elegant, it has sided with classicism compared to its distant cousin Lip Himalaya presented previously. Its in-house Orient movement is visible at 9 o'clock and reveals its balance wheel and escapement. The original blue strap perfectly compliments the dial which appears sunburst or muted, depending on the light. Its quality/price ratio, well known to enthusiasts, is undoubtedly its best asset, after its grace.

One beating heart makes another beat

This Casio MTP-1302PD-2AV embodies pragmatism in its purest form. Bought new for €45, it perfectly fulfills its specifications. Its sunray dial adds the touch of depth it needs. Dated at 3 o'clock and dotted with a fine minute track on the indexes, the dial is equipped with a quartz caliber. Its fluted bezel is reminiscent of the Datejust, its bracelet being rather inspired by Oyster (brushed/polished). Its sporty design makes it my favorite watch in summer, unlike leather bracelets. Down with quartz snobbery!

A Casio, no frills, 38mm

This Himalaya is actually my father's watch. I really like the numbered indexes at 3, 9 and 12 o'clock. Its beating heart allows us to observe part of its escapement. This movement stamped Lip is a Miyota caliber (Citizen) with a power reserve of about 40 hours, which is enough for a daily. Its blue dial and its horns are undoubtedly its major assets.

A very good all-round watch

The Orient brand was created in 1951 by Shogoro Yoshida in Japan. It all began in 1901 when the founder opened a watch boutique in the Ueno commercial district of Tokyo. For 50 years, it was able to take advantage of an expanding market and expand to the point of offering its own models. It was only in 1950 that he founded the &ldquo;Tama Keiki Co&rdquo; factory in the town of Hino. The original name of the company was quickly changed to accompany the release of their first model, the Orient Star, in 1951.

I was looking for an Open Heart watch without targeting any particular brands, and I came across the Orient Bambino. I immediately fell under its spell: this watch is sober, relatively simple but everything is executed to perfection and for a ridiculous price (- 200€).
The case alternates between brushed and polished, the dauphine hands and the domed glass add a touch of classicism to the whole.
The Orient F6T22 movement offers a power reserve of + 40h and a drift tested at +10s/day.
I find myself wearing it more often than I would have thought… In short, at this price, it would be a shame to miss out!
