Today, I'm going to tell you about a small Casio, certainly not the best known but which deserves your attention. It is the Casio AQ -S800WD-1EF
It is a watch with a resin case painted "steel" an acrylic glass, unfortunately, but with a steel bracelet. The dimensions 47.6 from lug to lug, 42 wide by 10.6 mm thick, with a weight of 89gr all included!
The characteristics now:

World time function
The world time function displays the time in 29 time zones and major cities around the world.

Stopwatch function - 1/100 sec - 1 h
The elapsed time, split times and total time are calculated with an accuracy of 1/100th of a second, over a maximum duration of one hour.

2 countdown timers - 5 sec - 100 minutes (with automatic repeat function)
This model has two independent countdown timers that emit a signal after the programmed time has elapsed before automatically resuming from the pre-programmed time. The watch's measuring capacity reaches up to 100 minutes and can be set in 5-second increments.

On/Off key beep

the little lowcoast tool-watch that gives you a lot

This watch was given to me. Pierre Lannier brand, it is an automatic watch of the "Skeleton" type, so you can see the movement inside. It is always effective for selling watches to those who are discovering mechanical movements. The dimensions of 37mm * 50 and 12mm thickness mean that it does not play in the featherweight category! But who is this Pierre? In any case, he is not targeting an expert audience, but especially fashion accessory lovers! This watch, lacking finesse, gives an impression of robustness by its dimensions and its design cut a little with a billhook! In the case is hidden a Chinese SEAGULL movement. The window on the back allows you to admire the oscillating weight decorated with a few blued screws. The dial gives the impression of being positioned at the bottom of the case, the mineral glass and the non-screwed crown give a water resistance of 5 atm. On the black case 6 'gold' screws are only for decoration. The black and gold mix reminds me of JPS, an international cigarette brand of British origin that decorated some Formula One cars! But here there is no sportiness. The look is therefore quite flashy, the finishes are correct for the price. The black leather strap of the "crocodile" type is very thick and solid but on the other hand it is not very flexible. On the hands, here, no luminova but it is supposed to be a chic and dressy watch... This watch has had three services, indeed at the very beginning it had an "exceptional" precision. It changed to winter time all by itself in 2 months! 30 minutes ahead per month! I brought it back and there it was magic, 15 minutes per week! After the 3rd service and 2 months of waiting it advances 15 minutes per month, I decided to keep it like that. I don't know if I fell on a bad horse, but I lost confidence in this Pierre!

Wesh Chic ?

This Bambino is part of the v3 range, the range includes the v1, very classic, the v2 in vintage style this v3 and the v4 in a style close to the v1. You should know that in each range there are its own variations, we could almost say that the Bambino is a "brand" in its own right from the Orient! This Bambino v3 is a Bauhaus style watch, this style was created in 1919, by Mr Walter Gropius. He founded the Staatliches Bauhaus in Wismar, a school of modern art with the aim of combining art and craftsmanship. The name Bauhaus is derived from the "Bauhütten" 'medieval', associations of craftsmen ... This type of watch is intended to be minimalist, modern with sober elegance, this v3 is available in 4 types of dial: blue, white, black and this gray version that I find very nice. The dial has 4 applied indexes at 12 o'clock, 3 o'clock, 6 o'clock and 9 o'clock, the others are painted white. These indexes cross a very lightly loaded railway. The baton-style hands are invited on this sunray gray dial that likes to play with the light. The mineral glass is beautiful because it is domed as desired, the watch measures 11mm thick by 40.5 wide. Orient Watch has implemented its "In-house" movement, the Caliber F67.
This movement benefits from manual winding and stop-seconds. The movement of the watch benefits from 40 hours of power reserve.
The stop-seconds, for its part, allows a precise measurement of the gain-loss ratio of the watch by causing the total stop of the second when setting the time of the watch.
This case has on the right side, a notched crown with a polished face engraved with two lions emblem of the watchmaking house. The case back is screwed and engraved with the logo of the Japanese brand. This watch despite its 40.5mm is worn like a much larger watch because the dial is larger than some watches. With a very thin case on the sides, the 36mm dial remains larger than a 45mm wide Seiko Padi prospex with its 33mm dial! So be careful with small wrists. I took a photo on my 19.5cm wrist to give you an idea of the rendering. Orient has just released a 38mm Bambino for smaller wrists. The watch comes with matte black leather decorated with gray stitching on the sides. This slightly "rough" leather is not very supple and does not seem to be of very good quality. You can change it but it is not to the current standard, it is 21mm. This watch with its refined style gives a lot by its finish and its price and will seem more than it is worth. A little gem that will elegantly serve its owner in a formal or casual chic style!

A Bambino in Master class!

Citizen is making a strong comeback this year in the watchmaking world, this tsuyosa also means STRENGTH in Japanese! This watch is available in several colors: blue, green, black and yellow for France. Other variations are planned for the future. Today I present to you the yellow model, a model that sold very well to the point that I had to put myself on a waiting list and after 4 months I was finally able to receive it! The watch is well built with a diameter of 40mm and a thickness of 11.7mm, the crown is at 4 o'clock, the glass is sapphire, very good for this price range. The movement comes from Myota, a house owned by Citizen, it is the caliber 8210, 21 jewels with a power reserve of 40 hours, it is given for +- 20 seconds per day. The movement echoes the dial, it is gilded with its Citizen Japan engraved balance wheel, it is visible, which is a plus for me but it also has a disadvantage for the waterproofness and as the crown is not screwed the watch is given for 5 atm too bad! the yellow dial is a mixture of matte and sunray because it appears matte at first glance but in strong light it becomes a little sunray. The stick-type indexes have a luminescent layer that shines only by its name! indeed it is very very light! The glass has a cyclops for a "magnifying glass effect" of the date, some will like it or not. the integrated "president" type bracelet brushed at the ends and polished in the center adds a chic side to this watch. Now let's talk about the price, for less than 300e Citizen offers you a refreshing watch with these different colors, pretty, summery, well finished and automatic with a sapphire crystal! Any flaws? yes of course: A water resistance of 5 ATM while the Tissot prx is at 10 ATM, a crown at 4 o'clock which is just a disaster for setting the time for someone with "man's" fingers and no nails! I also noticed for setting the date a problem with the caliber 8210, in fact no stop second and forced to make a whole revolution of the hands for the date because if I try to go back, the second hand does not like it at all and starts to go back what am I saying to jump 5 seconds back! I did not insist suddenly. The "lume" is also ridiculous compared to a diver! apart from these few small inconveniences it is a watch that I recommend and which will give a lot of pleasure to its owner.

Citizen Tsuyosa, a summer watch?

Seiko has released this SSC813P1 model integrated into the Prospex Speedtimer collection. A chronograph powered by the V192 caliber. The shape of the case is inspired by the original from 1964 with a new diameter of 39 mm, the domed sapphire crystal contributes to the pleasure of looking at this watch. The sandblasted finish of the white dial, contrasts with the sub-dials play with the light between black and purple because they are solar cells! The lower sub-dial gives an indication of the battery charge F for full and E for empty. In full the watch can run for 6 months. The precision is approximately 13 s / month. The watch is water-resistant to 100m, stopwatch to 1/5th of a second and tachymeter. The carbon titanium bezel fits perfectly into the watch. The beige hands give a little retro side to the watch. The finish is very good for the asking price, I was really won over by this watch! The flaws now because there are some of course: the date at four o'clock which is too much inside the watch and therefore not very readable, probably because of the implementation of the solar cells. The bracelet which I find is a little set back from the case and which only has two micro adjustments. Finally Seiko should have designed several sizes for this case a bit like Longines with its Hydroconquest series here only a 39mm version perfect for average wrists but maybe a little small for a 19 wrist like mine! I recommend this watch because it gives a lot for its price, an advantageous aesthetic, good precision due to its v192 caliber, no battery to change, a water resistance of 10 atm, a domed sapphire crystal of the most beautiful effect, a little vintage side and its Rolex Daytona inspiration!

A mini Baby-daytona

This watch is part of the beginning of quartz watches, the time when LCD dials were not yet the norm. With a width of 38mm, pressing one of the four buttons allows the LEDs to wake up to give the hour and minutes, a second, the month and date, a third the seconds. Granny quickly sees red! The old lady is temperamental! This watch was given to me in the 2000s, it consumes a lot of battery, about 1 every 6 months despite its huge battery!, don't ask it for the precision of its Swiss cousin, its quartz taken out of a nursing home does not have the vigor of a youngster and struggles to reach +15 minutes / month! its rubber strap is very comfortable and solid! the 4 buttons have the same use, did you say weird? Untraceable today, it remains a vestige of the past that I like to revive from time to time to admire its angry red LEDs for 3 seconds, that's the time calibrated at the factory! A toy for big kids that brings back memories of a Proust madeleine! Dialicious!

Grandma sees red!

This is my first automatic watch! This PROSPEX Special Edition PADI model was designed in partnership with the Professional Association of Diving Instructors! It works with the Automatic caliber 4R36, it is a reissue of the Seiko Pepsi 6309 model from the 70s, taking the same shape of the 45 mm diameter stainless steel case. It has a light blue luminous dial displaying the PADI logo and a unidirectional rotating bezel in stainless steel with blue and red carbon titanium coating, reminiscent of the PADI colors. The lume is satisfactory and the bracelet does the job, it has a very practical extension for the diving suit. The 45 mm is quite imposing but on my 19.5 wrist it goes well. The sapphire crystal is present and the sunray dial likes to play with the daylight! The watch gives an impression of solidity reinforced by the "turtle" case and the screw-down crown. I use it quite often to go see Nemo and it is in its element, now the small defects, the caliber 4r36 is not a precision monster, I am at +30s/day ... and the bezel has just blocked, maybe because of the sea water ... I recommend this watch however but for precision aficionados my Orient kamasu is more precise than this 4r36! remains the aesthetics and the history of this diver which everyone agrees on!

Seiko Prospex pads 

An unusual watch, I have had this watch for 8 years, its chic dress style contrasts with its personality ... as soon as you hold it, its weight is felt, much more than other watches especially in this category. It is 34mm wide by 43 with a thickness of 14 mm not really slim, but what characterizes it is that it hides its game well. Equipped with an open heart at 6 o'clock, it lets you glimpse its mechanism to better seduce you but beware of this pin-up who does not show you everything! Under her evening dress hides a quartz movement! It is after 2 years of living together that you discover the deception, when the hands fall asleep and the false movement continues its whirlwind! The glass of champagne clouded my mind but I do not blame him because I still love him ... with 5 atm did not hope to take him to the swimming pool, the sabre champagne will suit him better!

Fossil Twist, a rather rock 'n' roll watch!

I bought this watch on impulse, while going shopping, I saw this magnificent lip gdg in 39mm pvd gold and I left with it! I liked the comfort of wearing it with its butterfly buckle bracelet, its domed sapphire crystal, its raised indexes, its lightning-shaped second hand, the "electronic" logo, the Besançon France and the history of Lip, in short I was won over. Plus Lip doesn't make it anymore, what a shame! I obviously recommend this watch even if I had a small problem with it, it stopped during the warranty period and I had to send it back to Lip who changed the module for me! Another small inconvenience that has nothing to do with the watch, the saleswoman had put the Lip watch in a Seiko box on the pretext that she didn't know where the box was! I had to wait a week for her to order a Lip box!

I am the owner of the Orient Kamasu model 2010, this watch is fantastic value for money, it offers a blue-petrol dial on my model mounted with a khaki green bezel, the sunray dial plays with the light and goes to black depending on the orientation of the latter. It has 20 ATM and a screw-down crown, so it is a real "diver". The precision on my watch is +10 minutes/month. You have to see that the price is less than 250 euros, so you can't be too demanding... the metal bracelet does not have a diving extension for the suit. The crown is a little difficult to screw in because of the crown protectors, but you get used to it. Another small flaw, the bezel is difficult to turn but no alignment problem like with some Seikos. This watch was not a favorite for me because it is nothing exceptional but it does everything without getting angry with its banker. And so it is a watch that I appreciate and that I wear often. I recommend this reliable watch, water-resistant to 20 ATM with a sapphire crystal, an engraved and screwed crown and an in-house movement for less than 250 euros. What more could you ask for?

I present to you my Orient Kamasu which is a Japanese automatic diving watch, I chose at the time this pretty watch for the very special color of its dial a pretty mix of green and black and for its original bezel which is green from 12 o'clock to 3 o'clock and the rest is in black, Orient is an exclusive subsidiary of the Seiko manufacturer and as I have a huge weakness for Japanese watches I had to have this watch which came out after the mako 2 and I do not regret my purchase. Its diameter is 41.5mm its dial width is 13mm and it indicates 20 atm

Even Orient Kamasu 

It is indeed very generous this little unpretentious tool watch, because it gives a lot of pleasure to its owner at a very reasonable price (for a new automatic diver, that is): screwed crown, water-resistant to 200 m, sapphire crystal, stop-seconds, quick-set of date and day, in-house movement, pretty finishes, superb dial with reflections, ... I paid € 180 for it new (delivery included) from an Italian professional about 20 months ago. I wanted a watch that I am not afraid of damaging and that is shock-resistant when I tinker or garden. So of course, it has 2 known defects: a bracelet that is not as qualitative as the watch, and a crown that is quite small and difficult to screw and unscrew. For the bracelet, a Strapcode jubilee specially designed for it or a Nato and the problem is solved. For the crown, you just have to wear the watch as often as possible, and the use of the crown becomes anecdotal (once a month for the date). You see, there is no problem, there are only solutions! Otherwise, the movement is quite precise, at least on mine: I noticed a drift of maximum 10 s/day depending on the positions. Conclusion: the ORIENT Kamasu Mako III is a watch that brings me pleasure when I wear it, and that I find it hard to take off because it is so simple and easy to live with.

A generous watch

This little Japanese diver had been catching my eye for a long time. This limited edition version with a sunray blue and smoked dial and gold touches finally convinced me in the summer of 2022. Small? Not so much because it is almost 42mm in diameter but on the wrist it sits perfectly and seems much smaller. Very controlled thickness thanks to a flat sapphire crystal and a manufacture movement, water-resistant to 200m, it is its sporty and elegant ambivalence, especially in this limited blue/gold version that makes it so cute and endearing. Its weak point remaining its original bracelet (for this price range, we will easily forgive it), I pushed the vice to equip it with a very pretty jubilee bracelet from Strapcode to match the steel/gold style. The icing on the cake, the caliber adjustment shows a daily drift of -2/+2s/day for a watch bought for around €300. Crazy!

A diver with the look of a luxury watch

A small original diver, which, if it is inspired by its illustrious ancestors, has found its own identity. 
The little extra on the graduated bezel: a chevron that marks the graduation every 10 minutes (we could have called it "Stargate")
I also like its smoked dial, sunrayed in its lightest part which brings depth.
We will also appreciate the applied circled indexes which give relief to the whole. To top it all off, they are generously garnished with a cream Luminova with the most beautiful vintage effect.

A solid sapphire crystal completes the whole.
The case, the screwed crown, give a nice impression of robustness with its polished/brushed finish.
We could have wished for sharper edges, but that's asking a lot.
We may regret that the polished aluminum bezel insert is the point that risks getting damaged first.

An Orient house movement brings it to life, with a very satisfactory precision, which gives a beautiful coherence to the whole.

In conclusion, Orient does not make fun of us with this Kamasu, which gives a lot for its price.
A nice piece for those who would like to push the entry door into the watchmaking passion.

Travel to the Orient (and we’ll come back!)

Probably the best diver for less than €250, sapphire crystal, water-resistant to 20 bar, in-house movement, day/date complications, 120-click unidirectional rotating bezel with luminova ball, a very strong Lum (probably one of the best in the collection by the way). All with an incredibly beautiful red sunray dial that varies from intense red to black depending on the light. The only downside is the poor quality strap but which can still be easily replaced, especially with the Strapcode straps specially designed for this model, like the jubilee strap here.

A real diver at a lower cost

My first watch purchase of an automatic watch, I was looking for a watch that I could wear every day without having to worry about it. It fulfills this mission perfectly with a little style of its own with its stick indexes and the tip of its red second hand. It flirts between sporty and casual. It can be worn with just about anything thanks to its black dial. However, the OEM bracelet leaves a little to be desired, I changed it for this aftermarket jubilee. A true companion for every day and my witness to the passing of time.

Simply my first automatic watch

This is one of the watches with which I started my watchmaking journey. It is almost an essential for beginners in watchmaking. The good "quality-price" ratio to try out a legendary design without taking your banker hostage. It has this fun side that its color sometimes burgundy, sometimes red brings. Its dial is magnificent, but I would criticize its reflections created by a moderately treated sapphire. 
Its other asset is its versatility, it is criticized for a metal bracelet of mediocre quality, but it adapts perfectly to a good number of bracelets. 
Technically, it is flawless, generously arranged lume, good water resistance of 200m, a crown protector, a sapphire crystal, a running indicator, a precise and reliable movement. I can attest to its robustness, it has notably resisted the test of the banana-boat on the beautiful Breton beaches. To sum up, it's the perfect watch to start with, but I admit that I don't wear it anymore, nor the duck blue version that I bought later. Because I got tired of this design that I've seen and reviewed, I'm now thinking about buying a new diver's watch, also colorful but with a more atypical style (why not a Doxa for example). 
But this Orient has set the bar very high and it's going to take a lot to convince me! 
Long live watches! Long live Japan! Long live Orient!

A small Japanese car with a submarine-style design

I had a red Orient Kamasu for 2 years that I loved to wear and I came across this new version with a magnificent smoked dial and beautiful vintage-style indexes, I couldn't help but fall for it. The design is obviously reminiscent of the Submariner but the color gives it a fun side that makes it authentic, it has its own signature. As for the specs, it's just perfect, it's waterproof and resistant, the precision is honorable and the comfort is there. The price positioning is really excellent.
