This OMEGA Chronostop 145.007 pleased me with its image of a technical watch. Another piece of watchmaking history that I looked for after coming across photos. What? ... A single-pusher chronograph? How does it work? I discovered this piece of history the history of the OMEGA brand and its positioning with timekeeping. A watch in the rather special Seamaster collection from the end of the 60s. And here I am, one thing leading to another, hunting down a model just to see! It has presence even in its 39 mm dial because it is completely open. I was able to add a touch of "pep" with an orange leather strap. I don't wear it often, but it's the watch that I take out like the convertible car of the WE. All I need now is to find its little sister with the offset dial to allow the driver to read the time without taking his hands off the wheel!!!

On your mark, get set, stopwatch

I was looking at this watch when it came out this summer of 2022 "The metal is dull, the color is bland... and what are these minimalist designer shapes?"... And yet, here I am almost 1 year later with the Blue Version. It's the piece in my collection that most resembles a concept watch.

The 3D (Design-Discrete-Detail) watch

This watch gives me the impression of these simple objects whose function whose beauty comes from the simple presence of the function. It is ... A 3-hand watch ... and nothing else! I wear it as my discreet watch of high-level watchmaking quality. The one that is not noticed simply because it is in its place and perfectly balanced. I discovered the Oris brand a few years ago on social media thanks to their Propilot Kermit. In my opinion, a marketing genius, the lime green dial with a very modern and angular case, but especially this little Kermit the frog head 🐸 that appears once a month to completely make this watch lose its seriousness. 

During a stroll in the 6th arrondissement to window shop, I pass in front of the store. 
Opportunity to physically see this watch and discover the work of Oris. 

I then discover 2 other very flashy models, the caliber 115 with its skeletonized dial and the laser with its multi-colored dial thanks to a laser treatment never before seen on a watch. 

The 115 and its 44mm diameter is too imposing for me. 

But the laser is wonderful. I discover at that moment, the rest of the watch: 
- an in-house automatic movement with 5 days of power reserve and a precision superior to COSC standards. - a full titanium watch that despite its 39mm diameter is forgotten on the wrist due to its weight and its contained thickness (9.5mm).
- a case waterproof to 100m.
- a very angular design reminiscent of the American F-117 stealth planes. This design exploited on every detail: case back, crown, bezel...

But it was when I took off the watch that I cracked! By manipulating the folding clasp and its "lift" system reminiscent of airplane buckles, I had a crush. Could it be the memory of a childhood spent on Toulouse-Paris flights between my divorced parents; or simply the satisfaction of the clicks of its use as a fidget toy; I can't tell you. What I know is that I wanted it.

Gift for my 30th birthday, the budget not being unlimited and preferring a watch with date, I took this magnificent blue dial for 2200€ and still under warranty for 7 years! 

5 months that I wear it, it must spend almost half the time on my wrist. Not bad considering the 12 other watches in my collection… 

I had a problem with the bracelet one day, a blocked link without understanding where it came from. Perfectly managed by the teams of the Oris Montorgueil boutique, 3 weeks in the workshop (in the middle of August…) and it came back like new, the small scratches having disappeared by a gentle polishing and all entirely under warranty. 

I highly recommend.

A superb daily!

I have owned the Oris ProPilot X Calibre 400 for a year and a half now, and I am really happy with my choice. Initially attracted by the pink dial, I finally opted for the blue version, and I have not regretted my decision. This watch has become my daily companion thanks to its lightweight and robust titanium design, perfect for an everyday watch.

Its 5-day power reserve is clearly an advantage, and the precision remains reliable day after day (I was -4sec off during the last test). I just encountered a small technical problem with the date change which had difficulty operating between the 13th and 14th of the month ... I had to play with the minute and hour hands to manually pass it when setting it. But a return trip to the Oris after-sales service proved super efficient and the problem was quickly resolved !!!

Overall, the Oris ProPilot X Calibre 400 is an exceptional watch that combines modern style with practical functionality. Whether in the office, during my daily activities or during my outdoor escapades, this watch meets all my needs with elegance and reliability.

Between Heaven and Earth: My opinion on the ORIS Propilot X

First big purchase for me. I had never spent more than €1,200 on a watch and now I'm spending €3,000 more.

I try it on and feel its lightness, its simple sophistication. I'm sure of my choice!
On my wrist, I'm charmed by its comfort, its finesse to slip easily under shirts and its simple and readable dial.

The days go by and I make an observation: the drift is "huge". They sell a precision of -3/+5 sec/day and I'm on average at +14/+15 :o
A quick search reassures me because it seems that the "factory" settings are a bit approximate.
Back to my AD who sends it for servicing and two months later, I get it back "adjusted to perfection".

After 3 days of use, I notice "better": we went from a drift of +15 to one of -12...
Seriously what... The watch had to return to Switzerland to be adjusted because the "experts" are there and here is the result: a watch less precise than an Orient Bambino at 250€...

Well, you will have understood, my opinion on the movement is negative.

Otherwise the rest of the watch is good even if there are two other points that bother me:

- first point: their titanium marks extremely quickly. I wore the watch for 3 weeks in total, paying attention to it, but I feel like I worked on a construction site when I am an optician, the bracelet is so scratched.

- second point: they are not the only ones but why didn't they put a half-link?! I don't have an ideal position.

In short, first mixed experience with Oris but I'm waiting to see the feedback from the after-sales service to see if they can raise my esteem.
But €4,200 for a watch that marks as quickly as Swatch's bioceramic, with the same precision and possible drift difference as an NH35, it's very expensive...
