And here is a little design that makes me feel more than 40 years younger, quartz and digital are then invading the market and the 10-year-old kid that I was had of course learned to count but questions of hands.... what is that? LOL
That's when I received a model almost similar to this one with an open window on a rotating disk and which "gave" the time in a more subtle way than the simple digital dial. Certainly less precise but already the evocation of time passing.
So a little return to childhood with this Siboni Créative just for the pleasure of thinking back to those first watchmaking moments when I already didn't want to wear the same thing as my friends.
With its Milanese bracelet and without lugs it clearly asserts its retro origins.
I will only wear it on rare occasions, for fun only but I am happy that it joins my eclectic collection.

Back to 1979 or almost!

Wearing infinity on your wrist? That's what Venezianico claims in this new version of its classic Redentore model in the UltraBlack version. And I have to say that I think the promise has been kept!
The dial covered in Musou Black paint absorbs 99.4% of the light. It's hard to see it in the photos, but this deep black has a beautiful effect on the wrist. The absence of indexes also contributes to this effect, only the elegant logo at noon is present on the dial.
I chose the 40mm case (it also exists in 36mm), as well as the black calfskin strap and signed pin buckle (you can add a steel strap with a folding clasp, but that must significantly change the overall effect of the model).
On the back a beautiful engraving that represents space and its immensity, we will also note that the crown is signed with the brand logo which takes up the cross present at the top of the large clock on the "San Marco" square.
It is of course not a watch for every day, but it should not be restricted to only a tuxedo, it has its place on multiple occasions and allows you to engage in conversation with enthusiasts or the curious!


Black is Black

Second watch from this quality Chinese brand that enters my collection after the Blue Planet.
I was attracted of course by the design proposal and by this evolution of the original model which is now presented in titanium.
Several small details explain the reasons why it won the "German Design Award" in 2020, such as the shape of the case which is "skeleton" on the sides with the 4 decorative screws, of course on its dial and the technical hands with red details. The brand name is repeated on the left side and on the right side we have a crown protector that fits very well.
All this in a finally contained case of 41x48mm (almost without lugs) which sits well on my 17.5cm wrist and a special mention for the thickness of 12.4mm (rare on this type of model). Sapphire crystal perfectly integrated into the case
Of course it is very light with its 53g, so it sometimes takes a little time to adapt, but in the end it is rather pleasant.
Delivered with 2 bracelets that allow it to radically change style, the orange rubber (very good quality) being very sporty and the black leather (of quite good quality) on the contrary rather chic.
Only regret the 3 ATM, but it is not too annoying either, you just have to think about it especially when you wear it with the rubber.

Skelethon & Titanium

After a "wish" expressed at the Salon Vendôme and 3 years of waiting, this latest addition to my collection arrived on my birthday! Sportier than my Nautilus, this steel model with tropical bracelet is very comfortable to wear and will soon accompany me on trips to use its "travel time" function which displays a second hour hand to remind me of the time at "home". The two buttons on the left of the case allow this adjustment in order to advance or retreat the time and thus not lose the day/night indication which is present at 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock. Finally, the date is at 6 o'clock in a dedicated counter. Very beautiful finishes as always at Patek, both on the polished case and the brushed bezel. The PP-stamped movement is visible and also gives pride of place to the gold rotor. Finally, the bracelet is fitted with a butterfly folding clasp with a logo and perfectly adjusted. An old proverb says that patience is the key to joy, and right now I'm the happiest person in the world!

Patek Frequent Traveller 

An exceptional model for a unique occasion, my 50th birthday. It was well before the craze that recently took hold around these models and I was able to acquire this timepiece from the Patek Vendôme Salon with a very professional background and a more than reasonable waiting time because at the time the rose gold version was not in great demand for this more sporty than dressy world, basically. Very fine and harmonious, a bracelet with a comfort never found elsewhere and this brown dial that reflects the light in 1000 ways. It is by far the most beautiful piece in my collection and I try to wear it as soon as an occasion arises because it is immediately recognized and allows you to start a discussion with fans.

Precious Nautilus

Inspiration, homage, copy, I won't get into this quarrel... but here is what pushed me to take the plunge on this model: to add or not a skeleton model to my collection, and this crucial question of course came during confinement. So what could be more natural than to test the skeleton "style" for a small price. My choice therefore fell on this model with a 43mm case for 13mm thickness, sapphire crystal and ceramic bezel. Transparent back and skeletonized oscillating weight as well. It kept all its promises for a budget in only two figures. The power reserve given for 3 days is around 60 hours and I tested the 10 ATM announced in the swimming pool, the screwed crown did the job well. It is robust and the oyster bracelet as well as the clasp are of quality. I enjoy wearing it on occasion and I find that it has its place in the variety of models in my collection. Finally to finish this allowed me to answer the initial question on skeleton or not skeleton, and well there won't be any others I think (of skeleton, because I then acquired a second Pagani... you can't change your ways!=

Artisans of Guangdong

This is a 116528 Racing Dial model with a yellow gold case and bracelet with the "panda" sub-dials on champagne. The characteristic elements are the red inserts at the top of the sub-dial at 6 o'clock showing the name of the model, the railway and the chronograph second hand. We can of course find the tachymeter scale on the bezel as well as the crown and screwed pushers to guarantee water resistance. Legendary model this version is from 2001 series K. Comfortable and pleasant to wear bracelet despite its weight, but not in any circumstance.

Designed for the Race

What can I say that hasn't already been said many times about it? In any case, I love its design, which hasn't aged a day and will continue to do so for many years to come... It goes everywhere and yet is recognizable among all, given its iconic status, it is equally at home in the deep end as on the deckchair. We wear it without thinking because it adapts to all situations and all contemporary styles.

Under

With its little name Casiok (in reference to the octagonal shape of its case), and its code name GA-2100, this version of the G-Shock is for me the most interesting. It combines the look of a modern watch (dual display by hands and digital) with the legendary robustness of the model and features (alarm, chrono, worldtimer, etc.) which reminds me of my first quartz watches in the 80s. Moreover, during the initial settings or when calling upon specific functions, we fall back into childhood a little by frantically pressing the buttons with very precise sequences, we start again several times before getting there (the new versions are in Bluetooth with an application on the smartphone to facilitate the settings). I have 3 versions, one of which I made a mod on the bracelet and the bezel in order to have a full black in black PVD with the most beautiful effect and which attracts the eye of connoisseurs. It's truly the all-terrain, all-occasion watch, so treat yourself!

Casiok or not Casio - GA-2100

And this is what happens when the first jeweler of the Place Vendôme meets the first chronograph movement in the world... Proof that elegance and sportiness can give birth to a very beautiful and racy timepiece. The gold case is characteristic of the Solis models, without horns and with a unique system of attaching the bracelet which brings a certain strength to the whole. The dial and its thin smooth bezel are as if "placed" on a cushion from which emerge the crown decorated with an aquamarine as well as the chronograph pushers (crown screwed to guarantee the 10 ATM, even if...). The contrast of the "panda" sub-dials gives the touch of sportiness that one expects given the movement that was chosen. At noon we find the brand's B sign integrating the Vendôme column and at 4:30 the date window which is contrasted like the sub-dials in white writing on a black background. Finally a discreet railway to allow the precision of the chronograph hand. Obviously, a transparent case back was needed to reveal the superb and legendary El Primero movement, the inscription of which is repeated on the winding balance. For me, this is a precious and exceptional model that will never leave my collection.

Boucheron x The First

My first watch bought in 1993, model 16220 in a 36mn case which was then the standard. It accompanied me daily for almost 15 years without sharing, before the nice demon of watchmaking knocked on my door!.... Elegant and discreet, it also knows how to be original with its "Rolex printed" dial and the indexes placed in the shape of a lottery wheel. Perfect operation until today, it has only had one service in 2015 almost for the form. A little neglected today but when I take it out of its original box it is always with a lot of emotion and lots of memories come back then...

The one and only

It is a Japanese designer who is at the origin of the TACS brand (Taste, Attractive, Creative and Sens). This Day and Night model is a single hand on a 24-hour basis, with noon at noon and midnight at 6 o'clock (if one can say so!). The dial is divided into two zones, day and night, with the top circle representing the sun and the bottom one the moon. When it is noon, the hand, also bearing a small circle, passes exactly in the middle of the sun and it is the same at midnight at the level of the moon. The watch is equipped with a Swiss quartz movement that moves the hand with "poetic" slowness, allowing you to enjoy the passing of time. A black leather nato strap was delivered with it, and I change my nato quite often in shades of silver or dark gray depending on the mood of the moment. Atypical, this watch intrigues with its symbolism and its unique movement.

When the sun meets the moon

This Mec is my first "real" dress watch on a beautiful gold case whose shape is not common. Indeed we could summarize it by saying that it is barrel-shaped, but in my opinion it is a small shortcut when we observe it much more closely with its horns in continuity and a very pronounced curve. The black embossed dial is adorned with gold indexes applied with a very beautiful calligraphy, the date at 4:30 is well integrated. The crown is also well worked and signed with the B of the brand. The case back is transparent revealing the movement and the balance wheel also signed and decorated with the Vendôme column. The crocodile strap is "almost integrated" at the level of the horns and its folding clasp is signed on both sides. Without being only the watch for special occasions its style is not for every day and I always enjoy wearing it because of its comfort and its atypical design.

Virile and curvy

It's heavy, both literally and figuratively. A massive watch with a strong design due to the horizontal grooves running all along the case, the bracelet and extending into the dial. The bracelet, which keeps the same size from the case to the butterfly buckle, reinforces this feeling of robustness. The elegant side is provided by the dial which is very stripped down, the perfect discreet integration of the date at 6 o'clock as well as the hands. The solid case back has 6 screws and the only small regret is the crown which is not signed even if it takes up the grooves. Its XL size and a totally polished finish mean that it does not go unnoticed and the rectangular style without horns reinforces the whole. Once tamed, it can ultimately be worn on many more occasions than one might think at first glance. If Cartier made a chic Tank, Boucheron created a shock Tank!

Place Vendôme, Chic & Choc side!

With a regulator, a different approach to reading time is proposed. Here it is interpreted in the minimalist style of DuFa by detaching from the central axis (which indicates the minutes), the hours which are found in a dial at 45mn (on a 24h basis, this is where it gets a little complicated) with indexes every hour, and a small second at 25mn with only 3 indexes in Arabic numerals. DuFa logo applied at the top and simple indication "regulator" at 10mn retains the Bauhaus style of the brand, the mention made in germany at the bottom almost merges with the minute indexes. The pearl gray dial allows the blued hands to provide good readability (unfortunately my regulator fell the glass broke and the minute hand suffered a little, the DuFa after-sales service being in Hong Kong, I decided to simply replace the glass). The case is on a 42mn format with 12mn thickness and has a visible case back that highlights the movement and the blue balance wheel. Good quality smooth leather strap and signed pin buckle complete with regulator. I really wanted this type of complication in my collection and the choice of the model was oriented towards the minimalist expressed by the brand, in fact it takes a little time to adapt to interpret the hour hand (midnight at the top and noon at the bottom), so it was not necessary to be disturbed by unnecessary flourishes on the dial. Light and very comfortable to wear.

Regulator or time broken down

Here is a very elegant little Seiko in an ice blue dress with multiple reflections. Quite classic in its design, it presents some interesting complications such as the date reading at 6 o'clock in a dedicated dial (yes, you need to have good eyesight, but as I'm not a fan of windows, it's perfect) and an indication of the power reserve (40 hours for this model) by a small hand between noon and 4 o'clock. The small dark blue details on some hands enhance the whole thing. The leather strap with folding clasp is easily adjustable and the transparent back lets you see the movement with a gold and openwork oscillating weight. The only small flaw is the domed hardlex glass which adds a little thickness to the whole (14.4mn in total). A "dress watch" for every day that does "the job"

She doesn't leave you cold

An emblematic model of the House of Rolex, the Day Date, which bears the nickname of the Presidents' watch, is available only in noble gold and platinum materials. This version in "pink gold" (Everose at Rolex) with a chocolate dial enhanced by baguette indexes brings exceptional reflections. Fluted bezel and of course the famous "president" bracelet with an invisible attachment adorned with the Rolex-branded crown. This model is not made to go unnoticed, that's for sure, but in this very elegant configuration it remains easily wearable in everyday situations despite a certain statutory side. Very pleasant to wear, I particularly like this watch.

Pink President

Classic model from Oris, it is here in the 80th anniversary version with a bronze case. The combination of this material, which has been brought up to date for some time, with the matte dark green dial, the cathedral hands and the leather strap is very effective and very coherent I think. Not being a fan of date windows, the "pointer" with its little red guide brings additional originality to the model. The dial is very readable due to the absence of superfluous inscriptions. The movement is visible on the case back with the red balance wheel, Oris' signature. For a year and a half my model has acquired a nice patina and finally I prefer it this way, knowing that it will be able to regain all its original shine if necessary.

Retro from yesterday and today

I discovered this brand and this model on the StartupHeures show on Dialicious thanks to Xavier who hosted Charlie's designer and presented this model designed to accompany an explorer to the South Pole in total autonomy for more than 1,000km for 2 months. Suffice to say that it is robust with technical characteristics that can compete with a large number of beautiful brands that are much more expensive and yet the design has not been sacrificed down to the smallest details (thin aluminum bezel, colored insert in the crown). >all this makes it a perfect watch for all times with in addition quick attachments that allow you to alternate the bracelets (metal, leather, fabric ...) Small cock-a-doodle-doo for this made in France (integrating a Swiss movement) which is now available in several dial colors and in automatic version like this one or quartz. Finally what pushed me to add it to my collection after watching Xavier's show, well ... I was the winner of the draw !!! Thanks again Dialicious and Xavier, a very nice gift that I have been promoting around me since the beginning because it deserves it.

Versatile and delivers on its promises

A perfect watch for the great traveler with the possible reading of 3 time zones using the bidirectional bezel, or simply for the pleasure of a sedentary person to wear this watch formally or casually and use the GMT hand as a 24-hour indication. The Everose color (Rolex-made pink gold) has a very beautiful shine and the contrast between the brushed and polished parts is very effective without being flashy to my taste. The deep black dial highlights the indexes and the two-tone bezel is in harmony. For the rest, we find of course the know-how of the Rolex house, robustness, precision, comfort on the wrist

Precious GMT

Credible Chinese competition is arriving in the watchmaking world, as evidenced by this model which won the innovation prize at the GPHG in 2021. The brand was already known to some enthusiasts for its tonneau models and now it "breaks the screen" with a poetic evocation of the awareness that we must act for the planet. Despite its large size of 46mn it is easy to wear due to the absence of horns. It takes a little adaptation at the beginning in order to read the time because this is done on the one hand at the level of the navigation cross which rotates on the planet in 24 hours, which meets the hour flange (fixed) and the minute flange which rotates in 1 hour. It seems complex but it is very simple to use. The satin-finished steel case has a rounded shape which integrates perfectly with the domed sapphire crystal and highlights all the details of the dial representing the planet. The very comfortable rubber strap is of quality and equipped with quick fasteners. This very beautiful watch "piece" also allows you to start a conversation when you wear it, on watchmaking, ecological or any other subjects.

Our beautiful blue planet

Looking for a single-hand model to enrich my collection, I was not oriented towards this brand only for its price and finally what was my surprise when it arrived 15 days later... I had chosen it in burgundy to bring a little originality with a polished steel case (it exists in several combinations of dial/strap color and case finish) and I quickly ordered a second one in dark green with a textured gray dial and satin case. Small in size at 37mn and quite thin 10.2 thanks to manual winding, it is really another way of understanding the passage of time, far from "performance" in the service of precision, it is always "around" a certain time. A beautiful dress watch that can easily be declined according to your mood or your wardrobe because at this price you should not deprive yourself of having several!

Symbolic time

I was looking for something "different" to enrich my collection 4 years ago and during one of my many searches on different sites I discovered the Raketa Copernic. The time had come to take a closer look at the brand that had poetically created this model: Raketa. And as for looking for a "different" model I was not disappointed, quite the contrary all the models had something "different". My choice was finally and after more than 2 months of reflection, fixed on the Avant-Garde model, but I had not yet finished my work ... there were two versions. A classic if you can say (steel case and black bracelet) and this limited edition of 300 pieces with a black PVD case and a two-tone black and red leather strap. The hands form a constantly changing picture that ultimately indicates the time. A whole imagination from Malevich to Kandinski on his wrist. The extra curved glass adds an extra dimension when observing the passing of time and the evolving picture.
