Discreet and elegant

Having collected watches since childhood, it was Rolex that I turned to when I decided to buy my first manufacture watch. After a few fittings at my AD, I chose the Datejust, an icon of the brand with the crown. One of the main reasons for this choice was its look: the combination of the fluted bezel and the jubilee bracelet make the watch sparkle in the light, a pleasure for the eyes. In addition, despite its elegant side, its robustness and water resistance mean that you can wear it anywhere in any circumstance, whether at formal events or on vacation at the seaside. The comfort of the bracelet is also very appreciable, with the Easylink allowing you to adjust the length of the bracelet if necessary. Very satisfied with this watch for 2 years now, it occupies a fairly important place in my collection.

Timeless

I wanted to tell you about my latest purchase because I originally made it last July. I love Rolex watches but wasn't particularly into the brand's Classic models, but when I had the opportunity to see this magnificent mint green dial, I was literally enchanted. I went to the store and managed to convince my AD of my good faith. It took me just over a month to get it. A real stroke of luck. I opted for an Oyster bracelet because with its fluted bezel I was afraid of getting too much of a "bling bling" effect. This watch is a "killer"

The timeless Rolex

I was looking for a quality, robust, versatile watch that could be worn on any occasion. That's how I went for a Rolex Datejust. At first I wanted the one with the blue dial. In the end, it was a slate background with diamond indices that made me fall in love. I find this watch perfect. It is precise, sparkling, comfortable and can be worn on any occasion. It is my first high-end watch and I never get tired of it!

A watch for all occasions

No need to introduce one of the pillars of the Rolex range. 
To celebrate the birth of my daughter, I decided to treat myself to a watch and I turned to Rolex (caught up in the hypnotic and marketing power of the crown :) ). I went to my AD a few days after the birth with the goal of coming out with a watch at all costs (at that time, shortages were de rigueur). 
The available models were quite limited: the black and blue submariner in gold and steel, a few datejust 36 and 2 datejust 41 (the white version with Roman numerals and the Wimbledon). As a tennis fan, I chose the Wimbledon version with smooth bezel on a jubilee bracelet, which I had engraved for the occasion.

The quintessence of the crown brand

Focus on a Roro…. The Datejust 41 blue dial. What can I say???? Wearing a Rolex is always an indescribable experience that must be lived to appreciate the high level of finishing of the brand. This Datejust is just perfect in terms of comfort and aesthetics. The dial goes through all the shades of blue depending on the lighting, which also highlights the multitude of aesthetic details that make up the elements of this model. In short, a simple, effective and chic watch that I wear regularly like all those in my collection…

Datejust 41 blue

Having been a watch enthusiast for over 2 years, I have gradually built up a collection (only composed of manufacture/COSC movements) in stages and by theme (diver, chronograph); gradually increasing my investments. Tag Heuer, Tudor, Breitling... The next step could only be - within my means - the famous brand with the crown. Without being a primary Rolex aficionado, I ended up measuring all the majesty of the brand by dint of researching it and gradually fell in love with the model that I own today.
Far from being a confidential model, the "Wimbledon" in my eyes is the most beautiful version of the datejust, combining both elegance and sportiness.

This version, purchased in an official store (the first, preferring to bet on financial considerations and customer service on the second hand) has the new Rolex caliber 3235 (RDM 70h), antimagnetic and shock-resistant as well as the Easylink comfort extension. All the latest Rolex innovations within reach of the wrist in short.
The black Roman numerals circled in green appear to me as a true marvel whose color variances I never tire of contemplating according to the light projected on the slate-finish dial and sumptuously brushed in a circular manner. A real visual success.

The choice of an Oyster configuration and a smooth bezel is motivated by personal aesthetic considerations, preferring the Jubilee on a GMT and not necessarily liking the mixture of metals for a fluted bezel.

The watch is comfortable to wear, adaptable to all outfits. I regret however that the oysterlock clasp is a scratch magnet (but what clasp is not really?) and that visibility in the dark is average.

Great buying experience. Deposit of 3 wishes in March 2k23 (The Wimbledon, the datejust with a mint green dial and a classic black OP). Waiting period announced as 10 to 12 months. Reminder in June 2K23 to offer me another alternative (DJ green sunray dial). I finally manage to get my first choice after discussion. Payment of a 30% deposit and delivery time announced as 3 to 6 months. 20 days later/early July 2K23, announcement that my watch is available and acquisition in the process. Lucky. My collection is growing in the most beautiful way! Next goal, a Japanese movement!

The fact that I know the person who accompanied me throughout the process probably helped me (he was one of my former work-study students at Rolex, me who until very recently taught at the university).

A dream come true

Bought at the end of my watchmaking training, this watch has accompanied me everywhere, on any outing, even sporting ones, and after 10 years without servicing it still runs at +1 sec a day, a real reliable tank. In short, if you are looking for a robust dress code watch, go for it without hesitation, a little extra touch for the comfort of the watch, without hesitation the most comfortable to wear in my collection.

First purchase

A watch lover since I was young, I wanted a Rolex to mark an important stage in my life. Why this brand and not another? Certainly for everything that makes it famous today. I went to an AD, it was not necessarily the model I had initially chosen but after trying several, I literally fell in love with this Datejust white background. So it was decided, it was this one and not another. For almost 3 years, I have been wearing it almost daily and I still enjoy seeing it on my wrist. It is elegant and goes with both a dressy and casual style. It is just perfect!

Thunderbolt

I am rather discreet by nature. When you are passionate about watches, it is not always easy to go unnoticed. I was not destined to buy a Rolex Date-Just. It was the Instagram algorithm that got the better of me. While browsing the many photos of watches on the news feed (in which occasionally slip a few beautiful cars, beautiful women or good black humor jokes), I came across this watch on the wrist of someone wearing a beautiful gray sweater. The combination of colors and the quality of the shot finished me off in less than 5 seconds. I was not aware, but this model with the "Mina Green" dial had only just been announced by Rolex. I went to the store to an AD I know, he told me that the waiting list (and yes, the famous one!!!) was not yet open. I was lucky to be among the first to be registered. I chose it in 41mm. Sorry for the purists, I tried the 36mm, with my 18cm circumference wrist, I can't get used to dials smaller than 37mm. It doesn't suit me, I don't feel good with 36... I don't beat around the bush: I take it with a jubilee bracelet and fluted bezel. 

Today, the assessment is as follows: this watch is stunningly beautiful! The color of the dial is incredible. It's a change from blue (which is my favorite color and almost everywhere in my collection) and black (very sober). The green brings a nice touch of pep. BUT... It's a disco ball. It's flashy. It's recognizable. It's ostentatious. Sometimes (often), I must admit that I have a hard time assuming it since I prefer discretion. So I don't wear it that often. For example, I hardly dare to wear it in the professional world for "fear" of the distorted opinion that people can form, of the hasty conclusions that are drawn, etc. You could say "you must not care, it's not a subject". Ok... But... Nevertheless, it is a reality...

So, for me, it is a perfect watch, emblematic, resolutely sport-chic. But it is the antithesis of austerity and discretion. It is a watch that you must be able to assume to wear because you will bear the weight of its symbol and its unmistakable presence in the eyes of even non-experts...

The brand Ollech &amp; Wajs was created in 1956 by Joseph Ollech and Albert Wajs in Zurich, Switzerland. Albert was responsible for the design, engineering and manufacturing of the watches, while Joseph handled marketing and retail sales. Before creating their own watches under the brand Ollech &amp; Wajs, they started their business in 1954 making steel bracelets for other brands.
The brand is known for distributing watches to units of the American army during the Vietnam War and for having earned its reputation among divers and pilots around the world.
After 12 years of negotiations and after having been its distributor for the French market, in 2017, Charles Le Menestrel, a watchmaking enthusiast, bought the brand.
