I had to bring you back to life. I changed your glass. You were missing an index at 2 o'clock and my watchmaker worked miracles by re-cutting a hand.

The overhaul of your magnificent 106-50-6 manufacture movement was a formality. You were still running after all. A sleeping beauty.

Your dial remains in its original condition. A patina that testifies to your long life.

Your horn is slightly twisted but I love you like that.

A light polishing revealed a magnificent pink gold and not yellow. A splendor.

Your dauphine hands are splendid.

Zenith or 60s. A resurrection after 50 years in the drawer

Nothing can match the sentimental value of a watch inherited from one's father.

This watch is the one that made me dream when I saw it on my father's arm. The one that led me to love watchmaking. I was 14 years old then.

I wear it on leather or on a Breitling roller bracelet.

The valjoux 7750 caliber has been running perfectly for 35 years.

Some will find it too noisy. For me it is sweet music.

Here is a 1969 SEIKO DX 6106-9010 Sea Lion M330 in all its glory. The Seiko DX meant "De Luxe", which means it was a little above the more classic "5" range. The finish was supposedly better, and the dials often more worked. Mine has a rather original sunburst sector dial because contrary to the usual (sunburst starting from the center), here the sunburst starts from the index at 12:00. This produces unusual reflections in the light. The movement is the 25-jewel 6106 with stop-seconds which is of good quality, and particularly precise in my case (-4 to +8 s/day depending on the positions). The case is well finished, but the shape immediately refers to its era. That's why I bought it, but it will not be unanimous. It's a shame, and it's a good thing, because the prices of these models are quite low, even when they are in excellent condition like this one. So, if you like it, treat yourself without breaking the bank.

DX: the deluxe Seiko
