I chose this model because I was looking for a diver with a classic rotating bezel and a real personality, ideally mechanical and for an affordable price. This Bradner ticks all these boxes. Its Seiko automatic caliber is reliable although not very precise, the case gives a feeling of solidity, and the leather strap is suitable for immersion. A nice discovery.

Attractive diver

I chose this watch from a photo and I had not noticed its lack of readability. Firstly because of a lack of contrast between the main hands and the rest of the dial, then at the level of the small second at 6 o'clock which is used for the chrono but requires a pilot's view and cannot be used at certain times of the day. Otherwise for this price we are still entitled to an irreproachable quality of manufacture and finishes, whether at the level of the dial or the bracelet.

Unreadable aesthetics

I chose this watch for its very successful design and the choice was not easy among the 5 variations of this model (each limited to 1000 copies). It is sold with a perforated leather strap like a racing car, as well as a sports rubber strap, all in a very practical watchroll. The engraving of the Porsche 910 on its case back gives it an extra touch of personality. The finishes of the dial are nickel, and the meca-quartz seiko vk63 mechanism seems reliable and precise, all offered at a contained price of 300 €.

Automotive chronograph

I chose this watch for its timeless design, its history and its reliable and durable hand-wound mechanical movement (80 hours of reserve), but also for its beautiful bronze case which should develop a patina over time, just like the leather of its strap.

Toolwatch History

Iconic all-terrain watch, with a range of choices in terms of shapes and colors. I chose this model precisely on these criteria. The precision is great. The brightness in the dark is a little behind but its readability in broad daylight is great. You quickly get used to its use.

Effective

Beautiful Nomos watch with its typical design and contrasting colors (blue dial, white hands and index and orange small second). The finishes are perfect whether on the dial or the movement (manufacturer). The bracelet is more ordinary but comfortable. The precision is correct.

This watch is my second automatic. For the technical characteristics, it is a rather large watch. Bezel 42mm in diameter, thickness 15mm, 98gr on the scale with its leather strap. The back is transparent and reveals a Seiko NH35A movement.
It is water resistant to 180m. I read elsewhere "why 180m and not 200m?", I think I have the answer: it is a British brand and it is given for a resistance of 600Ft, therefore 180m. As they base themselves on a resistance in feet and not in meters, it is normal that they round in feet and not in meters.
The glasses (front and back) are made of sapphire, the Bradner has a bi-directional internal rotating bezel. On the side, two crowns, one engraved with the brand logo is used to wind and set the time, the other is used to turn the internal bezel. It should be noted that the logo on the crown will not be the same on all Bradners. On the new ones, the logo looks like a doubled "N" while the old logo represents a sail.
Aesthetically I find it very attractive (but really!). Its case is brushed in different directions giving the impression that it is in two parts: the horns that meet on the sides, brushed in a vertical direction, and the rest of the case, round, brushed in a horizontal direction (I don't know if I'm expressing myself correctly... at worst look at the photos).
The movement is certainly not as beautiful as a decorated high-end movement, but as a neophyte I am happy to be able to look at it. In any case I am attracted to watches that do not let the movement be seen on the dial, but which allow you to see it through the back.
The glass protecting the dial is slightly domed, creating a deformation of the dial which is very beautiful. The dial itself is a deep sunray blue, the indexes are made of a shiny metal filled with luminova. The hands are made of brushed metal, also filled with luminova, the second hand has a luminova dot surrounded by an orange net. I find that this watch has been designed with attention to detail. I love this dial, when the watch is well lit, it shines and "flames", but without lighting the dial would almost go unnoticed, that's my feeling and I really like this aesthetic character which makes it not ostentatious and offers a real pleasure to look at.

This watch exudes quality and yet, it is around 235 to 270 euros, which makes it an accessible watch.

Flamboyant



Looking for a so-called "super compressor" watch, but without the budget to go and get a Polaris at JLC, or even the very beautiful reissue of the Longines legend diver, my choice was more surely on a LIP Nautic ski.
French purchase, beautiful watch, in short, I was determined.
And then while browsing the Internet, I came across this English brand. Spinnaker.
Spinnaker has been making a name for itself on the watch scene for a few years with models inspired by the maritime and diving worlds.
And this Bradner model immediately caught my eye.
We are therefore on a steel case called super compressor (EPSA type for connoisseurs) 42 mm in diameter, date window at 3 o'clock and 2 crowns: the one at 4 o'clock is used for the usual functions of the watch (setting the time and date, winding), and the one at 2 o'clock is used to turn a bidirectional inner bezel.
This watch has a NH35 TMI movement, and is equipped with a pretty domed sapphire crystal.
The case back takes on pretty reflections with the light.
I find it ultimately more balanced and more elegant than the Nautic ski.
All for a very reasonable price.
However, note 2 small flaws.
The case is still quite thick. So not suitable for small wrists.
And the supposedly waterproof leather strap has turned black after the first few baths.
So I wear it on a Nato strap.
But overall, it does the job. A tool watch with an undeniable quality-price ratio that is easy to wear.

Spinnaker Bradner

Spinnaker is a young brand, but it knows how to find coherent historical references that allow it to tell nice stories. The Spinnaker Bradner is a good example, since the model pays tribute to the famous inventor of the neoprene suit who nevertheless had a relative importance in the world of diving! And the tribute is successful, the model is a blockbuster of the brand, its very successful compressor-type case gives it an irresistible vintage look, all the more so with the ultra-domed sapphire bezel that distorts the inscriptions on the internal crown. The sunray blue is great, the indexes generously filled with luminova are really successful aesthetically and functionally. The date is well integrated at 3 o'clock, no horrible contrast with the blue of the dial. The watch is decorated with nice little details and there are no finishing defects. The dial literature is sober, the applied Spinnaker inscription shines brightly in the sun and the small orange "600ft/180m" inscription is a reminder of the lollipop second hand. The rice grain bracelet is nice, it really looks a lot like the one offered by Baltic (maybe the same supplier at the end of the chain). A sapphire caseback allows you to enjoy the NH35 movement which just has an oscillating weight decorated in the brand's colors, I think I would have preferred a beautiful solid caseback with a little aesthetic work that could have paid a little homage to Hugh Bradner. All in all, it's an extremely nice watch, excellent value for money that really offers a lot of pleasure!
