The typical example of a watch that shatters prejudices about watchmaking! A legendary manufacturer, a terrible 70s look, a blue sunray dial with the most beautiful effect and a very pretty brushed finish all that for “only” 300€, less expensive than a watch made in China bearing the logo of a major ready-to-wear brand. This PRX is a great option for anyone who wants to take their first steps in watchmaking or who, like me, simply wants to add a pretty little piece to an already well-stocked collection. I chose quartz on this watch to stick as closely as possible to the original version (seastar quartz). Watchmaking is not just a question of money and this PRX is the perfect example :)

A very successful and original design, very marked nuances at the level of the superb sunburst dial and the ceramic bezel depending on the light (we go from a bright green in the sun to almost black in low light), a finish that is difficult to match at this price, extraordinary comfort on steel as on rubber, remarkable precision (+4s/day) for a SW200 base, a presence on the wrist that is astonishing without being massive... this diver has everything going for it and will make a wonderful Daily or travel partner.

The spirit of the Navitimer in a dress watch!
Having long been amazed by the Breitling universe and more particularly the Navitimer, I have long been frustrated by the very imposing diameters that the brand offers. This 3-hand Navitimer was an obvious choice for me when its release was announced.
The “simplicity” of its dial, the superb finishes, the return of the beaded bezel and the finesse of the case make this watch the perfect in-between for those looking for Breitling’s DNA and an elegant timepiece.

Not just an "affordable" GMT Master but a piece that has its own character.

A watch for adventurers on which you will want to alternate between fabric, leather, rubber straps... Everything that you can "forbid yourself" on a Rolex, you do it without an ounce of hesitation on this Tudor. Enough to rediscover your watch with each change of strap. The finishes are excellent for this price, the aluminum bezel is magnificent and offers a real alternative if, like me, you are not a fan of Rolex ceramic (a bit too flashy for my taste).

The case seems a little thick at first glance but you quickly get over it and this thickness reinforces the adventurer aspect. You have the impression of wearing an extremely robust watch that can follow you on all your adventures and that is the case! In short, a very beautiful watch that I wear with great pleasure and that has nothing to envy the others.

A watch seen and reviewed... or not! The Datejust is a great classic of the brand with the crown, a timeless piece. Open your eyes in the street and you will see loads of them. Too many perhaps? It is quite possible however, it is only a reflection of the efficiency of this model. Almost sporty, almost dress watch... so excellent nowhere? In reality it is quite the opposite! The Oyster bracelet and the smooth bezel bring THE sporty touch to this very elegant diameter (36mm). This timepiece goes just as well with a suit as with the very (too?) fashionable t-shirt-jeans-sneakers and this, without entering into the "disruptive" concepts dear to the Marketing departments of our beloved manufacturers. (cf: the communication around the submariner in the 70s where the latter is worn under the sleeve of a tuxedo). At the office? It is discreet. At the beach? No worries, it does very well underwater (10 bar). And otherwise, shall we talk about this date roulette? Even days in black, odd days in red... Rolex fun at its peak! Joking aside, this little twist is superbly effective and radically changes your perception of the watch from one day to the next. A classic DJ on the 2nd of the month and the next day you almost feel like you're wearing a Turn-O-Graph (ref: 116264). This is a trifle, a detail that some people will find of little interest but which means that, 12 years later, I am still as in love with my watch. I am not a Rolex fan, far from it. I like other manufacturers much more, most of them less renowned, less prestigious, more accessible, ... I have other pretty watches, with more "character" and yet, if I had to wear only one until the end of my days, it would without hesitation be this Datejust 36 date roulette which does everything wonderfully well.

Regardless of the opinions on its weight, the thickness of the case and its dimensions apparently not adapted for small wrists to fit into aesthetic standards: it is beautiful, practical, versatile, reliable and robust. This Tudor GMT is perfectly successful, very pleasant to wear with the Nato, the steel bracelet a little heavier but in keeping with the watch, a jubilee tried for the look, a very useful watch with its date, the Gmt function is perfect for traveling or remembering our trips! A must-have watch for us Tudor fans.

The Tudor GMT Traveler

Great model that most people find too big, too thick, but in everyday life it is clearly forgotten on the wrist, a solid and magnificent watch. Small downside, I strongly advise against it for people with a small wrist, the rendering would not necessarily be very pretty. In summary, a superb watch for everyday use.

Don’t hesitate!

This young lady has been on my wrist for almost 5 years. I was thinking about getting a chronograph when my dealer at the time showed me this GMT in a catalog that was not on sale at the time. I fell for the discretion of its blue and red bezel surrounding its dial, ideal in a city like Marseille. I was lucky enough to be the first on the waiting list. As soon as I put it on my wrist, I knew it would be the watch of my 40th birthday. I wear it every day or almost, I put it through its paces and it holds up well. It exudes solidity, and of course falls off my wrist. I find the strap super comfortable and I'm considering putting it on a jubilee strap that would enhance it a little more. However, I sometimes find it a little heavy and find that the NATO strap doesn't necessarily do it justice (much to my despair). In terms of reliability, I have mixed feelings, it has already been sent to the after-sales service twice for the same date malfunction that gets stuck between 2 days, the 2nd time the movement was changed. And finally I find the brightness of the hands quite weak. To end on a positive note, it adapts to all styles. My youngest daughter has already put an option on my watch when I die (have children)

The discreet Tudor black bay GMT

It is difficult to find the words as this watch must be worn and felt to be fully appreciated. Happy owner of this Black Bay for a year, I never stop spending time simply contemplating it. Aesthetically it is a success, we vacillate between a sporty side with its size, its robustness and its two-tone Pepsi bezel and its chic and worked side with the alternation of mirror polish and brushed, its applied and polished indexes, all its details and its exemplary finish. Very good feeling of quality when worn and handled. Both in terms of the case and the bracelet. The latter is ultra well adjusted and the clasp with its ceramic balls leaves a very pleasant sensation. It is equipped with a very precise COSC movement. Even the simple winding is very smooth and appreciable. What more can I say, this watch is splendid and it will surely never leave my collection. With a bit of objectivity, and if I put aside the overwhelming emotions brought by this piece, I will still point out a small remark about its thickness and weight. One or two millimeters less on the thickness and a few grams to lose and it would be perfect.

TUDOR Black Bay GMT 41: Functional elegance at the service

There are already many reviews on this Blackbay GMT but mine may be interesting because it didn't appeal to me at all. Not really a fan of diving watches, I still wanted one for my collection. I was looking for a rather classic model with a GMT complication and a two-tone bezel.

I first tried an entry-level model, a Mido OCEAN STAR GMT, but I wasn't convinced. The winding and setting of the hands seemed slow to me and the whole watch lacked quality.

Obviously, I also knew the Tudor Blackbay range but I didn't really like their design and found them a bit expensive. To tell the truth, I didn't understand all the hype around the brand among watch enthusiasts. It was only when I bought another watch (see Montblanc Heritage Chronométrie review) in a second-hand store that I took the opportunity to try a model on display. And there, I must admit that when I wore it, my gaze changed radically. It was probably the fact of having tried an entry-level model beforehand that made me appreciate the manufacturing quality of this Tudor. Everything about this watch exudes robustness and reliability. When you put it on your wrist, you become another man. The quality of the machine gives a natural assurance to whoever wears it. 

The model with a black background highlights the mirror polish of the snowflake hands, characteristic of the brand with the shield. These move harmoniously, the snowflakes cross without obstructing the view in order to guarantee foolproof readability. They are powered by a Manufacture movement, Caliber MT5652, guaranteeing 70 hours of power reserve and COSC certified. The case is brushed on the top and polished on the sides. I find this choice judicious to give it a certain class without it being flashy when you look at the dial. 

The latter is topped with a bidirectional and two-tone bezel typical of GMT watches. The tones are at the crossroads of a “Pepsi” and a “Coca”. We are on a very dark blue that can appear black depending on the light and a rather garnet red. Allowing to read a third time zone, turning it is a real pleasure. Its clicking sounds are singing and its fluidity is flawless while guaranteeing a certain firmness. We feel that we can manipulate it endlessly without wearing it out.

Adorned with the emblematic Tudor rose, the screw-down crown inspires robustness. That said, once unscrewed, it reveals its silkier side. The winding is very gentle while being firm at the same time. At the first notch, the crown allows to set the local time without stopping the second hand or the minute hand. This “jumping hour” option found on the “true GMT” is very practical when changing time zones or from summer time to winter time. Again, this is done very smoothly here while feeling the directness of the notches and it is a real treat.

Another positive point of this watch is the possibility of changing the strap. I had two when I bought it, a very well-made two-tone Nato, ideal for summer, and a very comfortable and more dressy rubber-leather hybrid. This one has an elegant folding clasp but the detail I appreciate the most is the clasp, polished and brushed, which takes up the brand logo, the famous Tudor shield.

As for the negative points, some will note a certain thickness but personally, it does not bother me, I find that it is part of this style of watch.
To find a fault with it, I regret the completely empty case back. Being a tool watch designed to be robust, we do not expect a transparent back, of course, but it might have been nice to find a Tudor logo or a map of the Time zones, which is found on other watches.

Finally, my opinion on the Tudor brand:
Some people criticize it for being “the poor man’s Rolex”. However, it is not just a question of price, there is also a certain image that comes into play. Any watch enthusiast recognizes the importance of Rolex in the field, but many prefer not to be associated with a clientele interested only in the status that the brand confers. By far my favorite watch, in a very successful retro style of the Black Bay but with today's innovations. This watch which has a date window is one of the only ones for which you do not have to worry about the position of the hands to change the date. With this magnificent domed sapphire. Apart from the materials it has nothing to envy its big sister, it also has better water resistance (20ATM). And with a real identity and history. A very good mix between quality, reliability, utility and beauty.
