This new Seiko Prospex is a real success for the price offered. Ceramic bezel, 200m water-resistant, 72 hours of power reserve. It is good to know that it is a real diver, it is thick and that goes with the "professional" DNA of the watch. So it is not a GMT that can be worn as a shirt... especially since the beauty weighs its weight... once again it is a real "pro". 
Nevertheless, the complication is a plus on this diver. It brings novelty to the collection and a touch of gold on this green version which is appreciable on this green sunray dial. 
The ceramic bezel brings this modern side to the watch which nevertheless wants to be a reinterpretation of 1968... 
Although with a diameter of 42mm, the horn to horn is perfectly suited to my (chicken) wrist. 
The case is frankly well worked, alternating brushed polish and mirror on the chamfers... to the delight of the eyes! The crown is not "badged", which is a shame for a watch at €1700... but it's a detail. 
The bracelet is correct, nothing more. The clasp is not up to par for my taste, however. Noisy and leaving a little juice... it is also rather well done in terms of finishes (alternating mirror and brushed) but qualitatively not sufficient. 
The movement is also correct, nothing more in terms of precision. 
In short, a beautiful GMT diver which, with a ceramic bezel and 72 hours of power reserve, is hard to beat from a price point of view...

Diver supplement GMT

By dint of hearing about and seeing the Speedmaster on forums/internet and especially on the Dialicious channel, I became more interested in this watch. What a mistake... for my wallet! 
I was looking for a chronograph with an apparent movement and a certain notoriety. The Daytona being inaccessible (for a decent price) my choice was going to fall on the Zenith Chronomaster Sport. And then I went to the store to try this Speed Sapphire... 
What a joy on the wrist! The new bracelet is simply incredibly comfortable, the buckle is neat and benefits from a micro-adjustment since 2023. 
The sapphire version inherits "mirror polished" central links and an applied logo: shiny but not too much. In any case for me, it is a subtle blend of modernity and history! And then what a joy to see this mechanical movement in action... 
Ideal size, neither too big nor too thick. A real treat to wear. 
As for the performance, the watch is truly "Metas". 
The only downside? The water resistance is only 50m. It might be time to put 100m, in order to be able to take the beauty out on a rainy day... 
As for the price, it's not a real debate for me, given the madness of the market... especially when the criticism comes from potential buyers of second-hand chronographs at more than €25k from a certain brand with the crown... :) 
In short, under the absolute charm, the "love story" is in full swing... Until the Chronosport arrives...😬

Between history and modernity

I present to you the Vacheron Constantin Patrimony Power Reserve ref 47200/1 in 18 ct yellow gold (is it really necessary to specify?) that I acquired a little over a year ago now. 
What can I say? It is always an immense pleasure to contemplate it, and the more I indulge in this pleasure, the more I admire it. 
Everything is refinement on this watch. The textured/tapestry dial (without really being one), the finely gilded sub-counters, the delicately detailed chamfers, not to mention the majestic Maltese cross proudly enthroned in place of the XII… what magic! 
In short, I am a fan. 
Although it is made of gold, it is ultimately light and is forgotten when worn. A real pleasure to no longer think about its presence and to rediscover its beauty at every glance…
Only small downside, it is not a VC “in-house” movement, but a JLC movement base.
But is it really a defect?

The pleasure of the Maltese cross

This is not one of Longines’ latest releases that has made the most noise over the past year, but I find it interesting nonetheless. 
This Longines Record Héritage Chronograph reference L2.921.4.56.2 (atchoum…) of 40 mm in diameter is part of the current trend of a strong comeback of vintage inspiration in modern watchmaking. 
Its golden indexes contrast fabulously well with the matte dial, and the graduations of the tachymeter/seconds are in a magnificent cream undeniably reminiscent of a patina of a watch of yesteryear. 
The case is beautifully crafted with an alternation of mirror polish on the bezel as well as on the lugs and brushed on the sides of the case. 
The leather strap also gently patinates with use and matches perfectly with the entire dial. 
Pleasant to wear, it is rather discreet with its contained diameter (40 mm) but does not let itself be forgotten because of its oscillating weight a bit too noisy for my taste... (we have to find a fault). 
The movement, precisely, an exclusive (manufacturer?) Longines movement, the COSC-certified L895, does the job and is rather nicely decorated. Not to mention its almost 60 hours of power reserve! Which is rather nice. 
In summary, a watch that is far too little highlighted by Longines that deserves to be looked at more closely and which turns out to be a very beautiful watch.

An endearing Chrono

This Omega Constellation 35 mm was my first watch acquisition. Seduced by its case and especially by its "integrated" type bracelet, I like this mix between the "mirror" effect rose gold and the brushed steel. Although a little heavy, once on the wrist you forget its presence. It must be said that it is rather discreet with its concise diameter, which I find to be judicious in two-tone because less "flashy" than the diameters of 39 or 42 ... Its dial, sunburst white, and its applied rose gold indexes capture the light in a sublime way and elegantly dress my wrist over the seasons. On a daily basis I still wear it less frequently than other watches, the fault of the presence of gold which gives it, despite its small diameter, an elitist and expensive connotation. As for the caliber, it holds up, it is robust, rather precise (COSC certification), and decorated without more. In short, a watch that I like and that I recommend to fans of integrated bracelets (and two-tone) who are looking to get off the beaten track, but not as a first watch...

<p dir="ltr">In 1755, Jean-Marc Vacheron, a Geneva watchmaker, founded his workshop. He created complicated watches, integrating mechanisms such as the calendar and minute repeater. In 1770, he designed the house's first complicated watch. In 1810, Jacques-Barth&eacute;lemy Vacheron, grandson of the founder, took over the management of the company and sought to extend the brand's presence beyond Swiss borders.</p>

His invention of the pantograph made it possible to reproduce parts with unprecedented precision, paving the way for high-quality mass production. This technical advance earned Leschot a gold medal from the Soci&eacute;t&eacute; des Arts de Gen&egrave;ve in 1844. In 1880, the house adopted the symbol of the Maltese cross as its logo, inspired by a component of the winding mechanism limiting the tension of the mainspring.</p>

<p dir="ltr">At the beginning of the 20th century, Vacheron &amp; Constantin continued to innovate by presenting increasingly sophisticated watches with complications. In 1906, the house opened its first boutique in Geneva, strengthening its local and international presence. In 1929, she created a pocket watch for King Fouad I of Egypt, incorporating 14 complications, testifying to her exceptional expertise. In 1955, to celebrate its bicentenary, the house presented the caliber 1003, the thinnest mechanical hand-wound movement in the world at the time, measuring just 1.64 mm thick.</p>

This period is marked by the creation of emblematic watches, notably ultra-thin models which demonstrate the exceptional know-how of the manufacture. In 1968, the brand launched the ultra-thin automatic wristwatch, equipped with caliber 1120, a movement which attracted the attention of specialists and collectors.</p>

A few years ago, I bought, second-hand, this Vacheron Constantin watch, which some will call Patrimony, others not (the Patrimony was only released in the 2000s).
It took me a while to find it because it had to have these few characteristics, which it fulfills:
- find a prestigious brand
- be a "dress watch" but vintage
- have a SIMPLE dial: hour and minutes
- possibly be in gold
In the end, I was able to find this model, at the time, at Collector Square (which I do not necessarily recommend), with a leather strap, and "revised".
In total, after a year of use, I still found myself with a few small defects to correct, while I recall, it had been revised:
- the glass ended up in my hands, the dial in the air. I managed to reclip it with my fingers, but the water resistance was not guaranteed at all
- the leather strap provided was of poor quality
Nevertheless, the mechanism worked wonderfully, with impressive precision, for this 1995 watch.

So last year I gave it a complete makeover at Vacheron Constantin, it underwent a complete overhaul, an addition of material, a polish like new, and a custom-made strap from Jean Rousseau.
In the end, today, it is the watch that makes the most sense in my collection

A heritage that is not one

This watch is incredibly elegant. Its 36mm diameter and thickness give it great refinement.
Vacheron is underrated compared to other watchmaking houses in the high-end watchmaking segment.
Its dial is finely crafted and highlights the date sub-counter, the seconds sub-counter and the power reserve sub-counter.
This is a white gold model that matches a black crocodile strap. The whole is exquisite.

Elegant and sublime model
