This watch, full of contrast and relief, is magnificent. Clearly classic in its design, with superb raised Roman numerals and sublime work on the dial. The black and white is extremely effective. 
Well balanced, it obviously works well as a dress watch but can also be used as a city watch. Very happy with this watch. I highly recommend

Classic and contrasting

Gshock 40th Anniversary Limited Edition Watch. This robust and discreet watch follows me daily to work (sports instructor). From an aesthetic point of view it is perfect. The matte black color, the rectangular case, the bracelet engraved with the iconic model references and the simple and functional LCD screen. From a practical point of view, the button at the top left is more difficult than the others to use and requires a little time to adapt. The modes are practical even if the timer modification is only done towards the +, which is really not pleasant when you just want to decrease it by one or two minutes. 

Finally, I recommend this watch or all associated models. Whether for the design or the features.

G-Shock Classic

This watch ticks many boxes and is close to perfection.
I fell in love with it very quickly when I discovered this one. The work on the dial and its asanoha patterns is sublime and works very well with the color of the slightly silvery white dial. The applied and beveled indexes give relief to the watch as well as the name of the brand at 12 o'clock. The date frame is thin but present. The domed sapphire crystal reinforces the vintage side and the case is magnificent with a polished bevel on the horns and vertical brushing. In short, this watch does not have many flaws. However, a small downside on the bracelet with poorly finished stitching that slightly stings the wrist. It is still very pretty, good quality and is in line with the spirit of the watch.

We can say that watches are professional, that they are made to explore the seabed, climb Everest or go to the moon, but personally when I buy one for several thousand Euros I don't even go swimming with it! I can be booed but hey that's my way of seeing things and my way of preserving my pieces. Each acquisition has been the subject of an often long journey accompanied by a few deprivations and deserves a little respect. In short, for each activity that is even slightly risky, I preferred not to wear a watch rather than risk damaging one.

Shortly before leaving for a ski trip, I remembered the hassle of the previous year every time I wanted to know the time. You open your jacket because you don't have an outside pocket, so on the chairlift you freeze them. Your fingers are frozen and you risk dropping your poles at best, or your glove or your phone at worst. In the end, you finally manage to see the time but also an email from work that ends up ruining the rest of your week.

So my new watchmaking quest was born: that of a (real) tool watch with the criteria of a contained size (to fit under your ski jacket :-) and a reasonable price so as not to be afraid of damaging it. In reality, the quest was not long, I turned directly to the G-Shock. The choice is plentiful, they are generally quite imposing, the models have references to lay outside, it is not always easy to find your way around... But hey, with perseverance, I (re)discovered the GW-M5610U, it was it and no other.

No time to wait, a little Prime and the package was delivered the next day. When I unpacked it, I was propelled into the DeLorean at 88 MPH to find myself directly in my middle school in 5th B. Honestly, what a joy! It really smells of the 80s with its digital display, its characteristic shape, its little indications everywhere. No need to read the technical sheet, everything is marked on the dial or the bottom! Its size is really great, super small, quite thin, really ideal for me. I felt even younger when I rediscovered the little beep each time a button is pressed, I can no longer stop myself from starting and restarting a stopwatch and resetting it. But the highlight of the show, the cherry on the cake, the finale of the fireworks, is the blue backlighting each time you flip your wrist to check the time in the dark! My God, I love it, a real joy! It has other advantages with its automatic time setting and solar charging. And honestly, for a hundred euros, isn't it crazy? When you see the price today of my K-Way from the summer camp days...

You'll have understood that I love it. It's not the one I wear the most, but what a smile every time I take it out of the box! In my opinion, each collection should have at least 2 watches, including a GW-M5610U (at least for the collections of nostalgic forty-somethings :-).


For nostalgic forty-somethings

Casio g-shock GW-5000U...I've had it for 3 days but I can't help but give my opinion because I know it so well. It's the same solar module as my GW-M5600. Its construction material is flexible and soft. The price of 300 euros is justified by its manufacture in Japan which out of the box is great! Indeed it was on time and date in Tokyo! The size is contained. Heavier than my two other models presented. A great choice. Oh yes it has bluetooth, gadget....

G-shock, this brand that resonates in a unique way with collectors, a sort of watchmaking UFO that goes completely against the grain of traditional watchmaking with its LCD displays, resin cases and ranges of colors that would make a Richard Mille pale. However, the shock-resistant watch has managed to make a place for itself and has contributed to the reputation of the Casio group for 50 years now. For my part, having started to take an interest in watches while I was still in high school, I naturally turned my attention to the Casio brand and its watches adapted to tight budgets. Synonymous with robustness and unrivaled quality/price ratio, I gradually built up a small collection of pieces found on various classified ad sites, taking advantage of the lack of knowledge of a public that was generally less informed at the time and which allowed me to obtain rare models at very reasonable prices. So it was with Casio, and more specifically G-shock, that my watchmaking journey began. And if, over the years, I have gradually reoriented myself towards watches with a less imposing diameter and a less bestial look, my passion for the brand remains. So, when the possibility of obtaining what is in my eyes the purest G-shock presented itself to me, not through a passionate friend, I jumped at the chance. Because what you have before your eyes is indeed a G-shock that simply tells the time, period. No chrono, date, or even GMT display. Released in 1997, it is the first G-shock with an analog display in the MR-G collection, the brand's most premium. Wearing the reference "MRG-120T", this watch has a construction worthy of an assault tank with its 4 screws around the bezel, its thick titanium case with integrated bracelet and its rubber ring ensuring good positioning on the wrist. At 26 years old, this G-shock continues to inspire robustness and is just waiting to be taken on new adventures. Letting the bumps of a very hectic life show through, the imperfections of the titanium give body to this watch born to endure. The highlight of the show if one were needed, the entire dial lights up to allow optimal reading of the time in the dark. More than a historic model, this MRG-120T is therefore for me the quintessence of the G-shock: Robust, playful, one of a kind.

Casio g-shock GA-B2100, solar, connected (gadget for me...) light (carbon insert) and a really reasonable size. Very readable, waterproof to 200m, etc...etc... I've had it for a month, but with the little experience I have of this brand I'm almost certain that I won't be disappointed. A very good purchase.

Nice surprise

Casio G-Shock 2100B...on vacation in Japan, I thought I would bring back, among other souvenirs, a watch. I wanted a Kuoe Kyoto. Not impressed. I had Casio in the back of my mind. And while wandering around, I came across the G-Shock store in Osaka. My blood boiled!!! Do they have the G2100 in red? Yessss! No hesitation, purchase made...with for me all that it represents. Should I write an article about it? This model is very well known...I would have preferred it in solar, but what a pleasure. And obviously, I will lack objectivity on the rating!

A First Smashing Step into the G-SHOCK World

Casio g-shock GW-M5600 from 2008... how to talk about it? How to describe it? Bought new 15 years ago, it hasn't changed. It accompanied me to the ends of the earth... always on time, waterproof and many other things. You put it down in the evening, it goes into standby mode and, in the morning, it wakes up at first light... radio controlled in addition... the only concession at the time, its plastic manufacturing material, less comfortable than the current one. It seems that it is a "must have", I am willing to believe it.

Wow!!!

Iconic all-terrain watch, with a range of choices in terms of shapes and colors. I chose this model precisely on these criteria. The precision is great. The brightness in the dark is a little behind but its readability in broad daylight is great. You quickly get used to its use.

Effective

My first G-Shock. It was a gift from my partner, so it has a special place in my collection. It's always nice to receive a watch, especially when there was a little risk taken (the watch is still all red, personally I love it) 

This G-Shock is pleasant to wear because of its lightness and exudes solidity. 

Usually I find them rather versatile, it's the watch that you can wear when you don't know which one to take. This one is a little less so with its bracelet, dial and case all red. On the contrary, it lights up the wrist with its flamboyant color.

A colorful toolwatch

With its little name Casiok (in reference to the octagonal shape of its case), and its code name GA-2100, this version of the G-Shock is for me the most interesting. It combines the look of a modern watch (dual display by hands and digital) with the legendary robustness of the model and features (alarm, chrono, worldtimer, etc.) which reminds me of my first quartz watches in the 80s. Moreover, during the initial settings or when calling upon specific functions, we fall back into childhood a little by frantically pressing the buttons with very precise sequences, we start again several times before getting there (the new versions are in Bluetooth with an application on the smartphone to facilitate the settings). I have 3 versions, one of which I made a mod on the bracelet and the bezel in order to have a full black in black PVD with the most beautiful effect and which attracts the eye of connoisseurs. It's truly the all-terrain, all-occasion watch, so treat yourself!

Casiok or not Casio - GA-2100

After 3 years of wearing my GA2100 (1st model called "Casioak") that I still appreciate today, it was a nice surprise to see Casio present a version with the same design, with the functions that in my opinion were always missing from the first generation: Bluetooth and the solar module. Another difference, the dial is now sunray, a plus. I chose this yellow model, which seemed too flashy to me at first, but which over time has become my favorite version. This one is also the most readable offered thanks to the clearer indexes associated with the positive screen, which confirmed my decision. The blue and red writing with the yellow needle on the dial are small details that ultimately bring a lot to the dial. It is very comfortable to wear and very light thanks to the carbon chassis, the proportions are great (unlike some much larger g-shock models with which I still have difficulty) and the features are sufficient for my use. A cool watch to wear on vacation in summer.

A superb evolution

The indestructible watch! With its design straight out of the 80s, the G-shock is a must-have for any collector. It offers all the features with alarm, chrono, date display… with a cool look, incredible comfort and a really affordable price! It will follow you on all your adventures and no one is ever disappointed to get a G-Shock. A piece of watchmaking history on the wrist!

Casio G-Shock GW-M5610U-1ER

Light watch, cheap, robust, not too big for a G-Shock, discreet and efficient, it goes everywhere and in addition solar so you can have fun with all the functions even the light and will not be bothered by a battery change too quickly. If ever I do not know what awaits me during the day I choose it.

When in doubt, there is no doubt!

I hadn't worn a Casio for a long time, but this G-shock with its hexagonal metal bezel caught my attention.
It's not a consensual G-shock, not at all, but it has undeniable assets.
First of all, it's extremely readable, the negative screen is quite large, you can vary the amount of information displayed to have the time more or less large. And above all, the contrast is very high, there is always an angle under which even in low light, the additional light is useless even if you just have to press the front button to trigger it. The time is really very readable. Then, it's the color of the prominent bracelet that fascinates me, I can't define it, it's a mixture of light blue and gray, something at the same time joyful, wild, cold and energetic. It intrigues me and I still don't know why I like it. This color reminds me of a painting by Pierre Bonnard, an impression of a comfortable atmosphere, a bright house open to nature, the passage from interior intimacy to the wild immensity of the sea under the blinding light of the sun. It is a watch from the G-shock Glide series designed for board sports and as such it displays lunar and solar information, sunrise and sunset, tide time and height. Above all, the screen displays a graph that allows you to see exactly where you are on the tide profile. That's really good because in practice I always lose my tide calendar and a graph is always faster to read than low and high sea times and a tide coefficient. Afterwards, the other features, including the stopwatch, seem very poorly designed with this stupid screen that displays "activity data? -continue - save -delete" then the interminable "please wait". Even in the twentieth century, watches didn't have such annoying menus for their users and "please wait" screens that take ages. It's surreal. Also, the Bluetooth connection is not the most practical, nor very useful (at least for me).

But it doesn't bother me too much, there is a lot of information on the basic screens and it's not really necessary to use the stopwatch and all the advanced functions.

The soundtrack to accompany such a watch would in my opinion be the L.A. band Weezer with "Surf Wax America", the energy and youth seem to go perfectly with this surfer's watch (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tG9CjNEjBuQ ) or a band from the French West Coast like "La Femme" ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v3rMJ6BOMRA ).

Slide time, pass the wave

A watch I acquired a few years ago, among the first G-SHOCK in steel. Dual display analog and liquid crystal, with many features, world time, alarm, date, chronograph, countdown... watch that I gave to my father about ten years ago. It's his tool watch. It still works perfectly. It reminds me of the Speedmaster X1 model from OMEGA.

Casio G-SHOCK Cockpit 

This G-shock is a real favorite! Different from the other models in the range without denying its lineage. With its horns it looks like a "normal" watch while retaining its "indestructible" watch DNA.
I was first attracted by its "Carbon Core Guard" structure. The use of this modern material resonated in my soul as a motorsport enthusiast. Then, its black and turquoise blue colors seduced me. They evoke for me, all propositions kept, certain Richard Mille seen on the wrist of Sébastien Loeb in particular. Both by the colors and by the use of carbon.

Although imposing like many G-shocks, it is really comfortable to wear because it is very light. Its shape fits perfectly on my wrist and the hard resin case back adds even more comfort.
The dial gives off a great feeling of depth and is very pleasant to look at.
Solid and reliable, it is one of my favorite companions when I do DIY, gardening or play sports.

A piece of sky on the wrist

To be honest, it's difficult to give my opinion because I just bought this watch because I'm going on holiday to Asia with my son and I chose this model for its design, the Bluetooth and the GMT and above all their proven solidity because yes I took 2, one for me and my son, I will give a more detailed opinion when I get back

Vacation 

I bought it to accompany me in my work which is manual work. What I like is that I don't need to worry about it. Its comfort with the rubber strap. In terms of look, the vertical brushed anthracite dial is very effective. The indexes are placed both on the dial and on the flange which gives a certain depth to the watch. The digital display, although tiny, remains readable in order to take advantage of the classic functions of a Casio.

La Casio GM-2100-1AER 

You've loved the G-Shock Square since 1983?
So why not fall for its haute couture version?
It's all there: from the extreme resistance of its titanium alloys to its high-flying Japanese-style polished finishes, including a DLC treatment that wonderfully captures the light, everything is there to not be reasonable.

Casio G-Shock GA-2100HD-8AER...once again, trapped by one of the variations of this GA2100 series...there are so many. But this one caught my eye, a little more. Mouse gray strap and case, white background which makes excellent readability. It seems that at night the lume is great. to be seen later. And above all the quality, reliability and solidity of Casio. Really happy with my purchase. Finally, it fits very well on my 18 cm wrist.

For 100 bucks you get nothing...yes, a super G-Shock!

With my profession, I risk damaging my beautiful watches. So, for my daily professional life, I need a very, very robust, reliable watch with useful complications (alarm, timer, date, day, etc.). However, I want a watch that I find pretty and suitable for my wrist that gives me as much satisfaction as my beautiful automatics (but that I can drop, knock, etc.). The solution is the G shock GM-2100... my love for green timepieces is reflected in this beautiful futuristic metal dial. This watch with very reasonable dimensions for a G shock makes it seem like something else. And for this price, honestly, this timepiece is incredible!!! The only flaw may be in this rubber strap that is too rigid, which makes it less comfortable to wear. Finally, this addictive model really has a lot of charm, and manages to transform itself into an almost luxurious and chic watch despite all the features that make g shock objects Wow 🤯

Green Casio-Oak metal  waou !

I have owned the Gshock GW7900 1st for over 4 years and I am VERY satisfied with it. A true bodyguard for my automatic watches, it dresses my wrist for all situations that pose a risk to our beautiful (fragile) watches. Equipped with a battery recharged by the sun, it sets the time automatically by radio frequency. It displays the moon phases, tide coefficients and of course all the other classic features of a gShock: stopwatch ... of unfailing solidity: my wrist will break before this watch! An excellent substitute for those who love watches but want to protect their mechanical timepieces from extreme situations

My G-Shock is muscular

The GW-5000U is designed in the spirit of the first G-Shocks - that's how I like them - but it has modern features like solar charging or multi-band. A more high-end version than the 5600s, it is made in Japan; it benefits from a high-quality resin and a very appreciable screwed back. The famous "shock resist" logo underlined in red gives it that little retro side of the first G-Shocks. Comfort is there but you will need nails or sharp fingers to manipulate the pushers. The contrast is excellent (even with polarized glasses) and the LED lighting is very effective. It is a purist's G-Shock that will accompany me everywhere that the other watches in my collection cannot accompany me without fear.

G-Shock GW-5000U: authentically modern!

The Casio GM-B2100D-1AER nicknamed CasiOak because of its octagonal bezel that looks like you know who is mostly from the DW-5000C. 
Is it really a G-shock? 
By that I mean, is it as resistant as the other Casios in the range? 

To tell the truth, I wouldn't throw it against a wall. 
Due to its full steel design, it is therefore very sensitive to scratches. 
Nevertheless, between the hands and the wrist, we have a real feeling of robustness and elegance. 
This comes from the work done on the steel which is mostly polished on the case and which perfectly reflects the light, as well as the brushed bezel which reflects this feeling of robustness. The eye is also well attracted by the polished brushed finish of the bracelet, with its small circles dug into the links with a polished surface. 

Although it does not have the qualities of its resin elders, it keeps all the G-shock DNA in terms of design and features. It will also have the Bluetooth function for settings and the solar charging system.

Small downside, I would have liked it to also be able to recharge in indoor light.

I have to regularly check the exposure of the watch, to be able to wear it when I want. If it is discharged, it will be necessary to wait a fairly long period proportional to its lack of exposure to light.

This chic sport CasiOak is truly very beautiful, fascinating and endearing.

G-shock CasiOak

I received this yellow Casio G-Shock as a gift during my vacation, and it quickly became much more than just a watch: it is my adventure partner. Whether for canoeing, jet skiing, fishing, or my intense sports sessions, it accompanies me everywhere, without ever failing. Its robustness is amazing: it has taken all the shocks without showing the slightest sign of weakness. I have even found myself underwater several times with it, and its waterproofness is impeccable. It's simple, I have never had to worry, it holds up in all situations.

The Yellow Diver

It was time to have a G-Shock and the opportunity came during a vacation in Malaysia... For months, friends had been bugging me about the absence of a G-Shock in my watch collection... It's true after all, who doesn't have their G-Shock?

Although this is not my personal trajectory, the holiday atmosphere and the opportunity to also offer one to my son seduced me. I hesitated between a yellow one - my son's - and this one, the GLX5600 reference displaying the tide times... Sparkling and tangy, it's exactly what I needed to go fishing or boating. Ivan, one of the guests of the Dialicious YouTube channel convinced me of the relevance of the history model with its unique design... 40% off for less than €60 and good memories, isn't that - also - what we look for in a watch... Of course, it is neither radio-controlled, nor solar, nor Bluetooth... but it gives me the tide of my favorite fishing spot allowing me to escape for a moment ;-)

How long will the romance last? One thing is for sure, my son and I both have a watch in common with the holiday memories that go with it... and that is priceless 👍

📣 Finally my first G-Shock

It was sold to me as a "must-have". It does not detract from its excellent reputation. It is truly indestructible, it has withstood so many challenges, on vacation in the mountains in the summer. Only one criticism, the bracelet which unfortunately tends to age badly. I recently bought the same model in blue and with the Bluetooth option so as not to have to change the battery and risk compromising the watch's water resistance. But I still recommend it as much!

Fun et indestructible 

So for some time now I wanted to acquire a "real G Shock" that is a robust and durable watch with some interesting functions for sports. I am seduced. Both light and comfortable, this pretty beast has everything to please after two months of use it is perfect.

The brand Ollech &amp; Wajs was created in 1956 by Joseph Ollech and Albert Wajs in Zurich, Switzerland. Albert was responsible for the design, engineering and manufacturing of the watches, while Joseph handled marketing and retail sales.
