Ebel Onyx Convexe Hexagone Owner Review : Unique, complex and conceptual

For the record, I present to you today this unique vintage watch.⁣⁣⁣⁣ My grandfather's EBEL with mechanical winding, it is a watch in his image, unique and complex.⁣⁣⁣⁣ The white gold case, the mechanism also and a slightly smoked convex sapphire glass. The simple black dial with a hand for the hour, the minutes, but not for the seconds. The bracelet having lived as much as him has been replaced by a very simple black leather strap that matches the complexity of the shape of the case.⁣⁣⁣⁣ My grandfather arrived in Belgium at the end of the 50s, he was an elegant man, always in a suit that people called Monsieur. He never went down the mine and very quickly joined Brussels where he started to undertake, he ran the café des artistes, rue des pierres opposite the Ancienne Belgique and then opened Greek restaurants, Zorba, l'Europe, le Parnasse on the main square. All this without knowing how to read or write. My grandfather had a big heart, he knew how to give in order to receive. A striking example, 5 years ago, one evening when I was hungry, we went, some friends and I to an old Greek restaurant in Waregem, the only one still open at 11:30 p.m. This gentleman asked me who I was and I explained to him. When I told him about my grandfather, the gentleman sat on his chair and was moved, he confessed to me that when he arrived in Belgium in 1970, my grandfather had housed him for free for 1 month and had given him a little money so that he could get started, what a coincidence. He was generous and left me this watch, a watch that he himself received as a gift from a Cypriot shipowner.⁣⁣⁣⁣ This watch is a little bit of a trace of his passage and of what he left me, with this watch, he is still a little bit with me and I always wear it on special occasions.
