IWC Aquatimer Automatic 2000 - References, Prices and Owners' Reviews

A watch that caught my eye in the early 2000s. This full titanium aquatimer 2000 is the descendant of the first super compressor aquatimer from the 1960s. The water resistance has since increased from 200m to 2000m, which is very reassuring when washing your hands... the 42mm case and 14mm thick remain very comfortable thanks to its superb integrated bracelet. I like its great readability and the contrast of the yellow on this matte black dial, magnified by a beautiful slightly domed sapphire crystal, without deformations. The balance is perfect in every way. A very special watch, retro futuristic, masculine but without being aggressive or superlative. An undeniably youngtimer. The lightness and softness of titanium in addition. Found with box and papers in mint condition. I'm a fan.

Like any tic tac addict, I scroll a lot without any real goal in order to discover new references (or brands). A lover of divers, I was one day (or one night) on a virtual watchmaking stroll, when I came face to face (well, nose on screen) with this IWC Aquatimer GST 2000, reference 353602. An immediate love at first sight for its design and curves. The obsession was just as sudden. I found an unstoppable way to chase it from my thoughts: buying it a few months later from a French dealer in Certified Pre Owned. This integrated case comes with a magnificent steel bracelet, which I find very elegant but unfortunately not very comfortable. For daily use, or at least more recurrent than very occasional, I was able to find the original bracelet in a rubber version giving a more adventurous side to this nugget. From memory, the caliber is a derivative of the ETA 2892-A2, which did not tip in the balance, the design of this diver being divine: - a refined dial (exceptional readability) - a massive case (42mm, 14.5mm thick), but on the wrist, there is a visual crushing of the watch that goes everywhere. - a matte black unidirectional bezel with raised inscriptions, which has always hypnotized me. - a massive and screwed crown. Concerning the drifts, it is not a watch that I use daily so I adjust it each time I use it. This watch is a pure pleasure, for the eyes, a little less for the wrist (except with the rubber version).
