No need to introduce one of the pillars of the Rolex range. 
To celebrate the birth of my daughter, I decided to treat myself to a watch and I turned to Rolex (caught up in the hypnotic and marketing power of the crown :) ). I went to my AD a few days after the birth with the goal of coming out with a watch at all costs (at that time, shortages were de rigueur). 
The available models were quite limited: the black and blue submariner in gold and steel, a few datejust 36 and 2 datejust 41 (the white version with Roman numerals and the Wimbledon). As a tennis fan, I chose the Wimbledon version with smooth bezel on a jubilee bracelet, which I had engraved for the occasion.

The quintessence of the crown brand

A solid diving chronograph watch that I have owned for almost 9 years. 
This watch, chosen on a photo impulse, was given to me to accompany me during my world tour in 2014. It is a robust and reliable watch with which I made my best dives (Similan Islands, Hawaii). 
The red bezel and the red circle of the minute counter give it a strong sporty side. In addition, it goes perfectly with any type of bracelet. 
After a small servicing at Longines (special mention for the quality after-sales service), here it is again, ready for great adventures! 


A great dive timer

For a few years now, I have been looking for THE 3-hand diving watch that would stay on my wrist and that I would not get tired of after a few weeks. 

Among the contenders that I acquired and unfortunately did not stay: 
• the iconic submariner date and no date (more of a bucket list effect: yes I had them, but in the end meh) 
• the black and blue Tudor BB58: nice fashion effect but nothing more 
• a blue Bell&Ross diver: impeccable finish but the magic did not work for long 
• 2 green and blue hydroconquest: simple, effective but without emotion. 

Then finally I came across ZRC. I never took the plunge because the 41mm model is too imposing in my opinion. And this year the 39mm version came out. As usual, love at first sight in the photo and I went to try it in store. Confirmed by the test. It has a crazy charm and you feel like you have a NOS watch from the 60s.

I love: the magnum hands, the lolipop seconds hand, the total symmetry with the crown at 6 o'clock (and the patented ZRC protection system), the bracelet with a link on each side equipped with a spring for diving, the hardware side of the bracelet with its archaic link attachment system from the 60s and finally the satellite indexes.

The only downside is the use of this good old SW200 tractor. But hey, you can't have everything.

In short, it's a little gem that has style and can announce to other divers: veni, vidi, vici.


The vintage diving watch

Swatch continues and masters all kinds of collabs. And this series dedicated to the Dragon Ball Z universe is a real success. Ah, nostalgia when you hold us 😄. My favorite is the one dedicated to this valiant Kame Sennin, aka Turtle Genius, who taught the kamehameha to San Goku.. It breathes good humor, fun. The references are well found: the front of the bracelet represents his outfit, the back the patterns of his shirt, and the dial with his good pervert face. When the hands, red, are at 16:35, we have the impression that he is bleeding from the nose. After that it remains a swatch with its flaws (including a ridiculous water resistance of 3atm), but I smile every time I look at it.

But she is so great!

I had been looking for a GMT watch for some time, and I fell in love with the green bezel version immediately. I contacted my AD the day of the announcement, and he had a model available. That same evening it was on my wrist. 

What I immediately liked: the deliberately vintage style, the golden indexes and hands that give it some pep, the symmetry with the date window at 6 o'clock. Love at first sight confirmed once I had the watch in my hands: an excellent impression of quality (the twisted crown is fixed as a rock when you handle it), the dial is teeming with details (golden ring around the minute track, luminescent diamonds dug into the dial, raised dial), a top-notch finish. 

In short, this Zulu Time is a real steal.

Longines Spirit Zulu Time

A strong 'Spirit' spirit, an efficient GMT function, a vintage look, a 42mm diameter consistent with a readable aviator's watch...what more could you ask for? The ceramic bezel in a magnificent English green goes wonderfully with the cognac leather strap with micro-adjustable folding clasp. As usual, Longines does not disappoint!

A GMT with the DNA of aviation pioneers

This magnificent Longines Spirit Zulu time was my first truly beautiful automatic watch. I had to wait until I was forty to buy it. It brought together everything I was looking for. A real GMT, a quality caliber, a watchmaking history, an aesthetic love at first sight. Longines is a brand that speaks to me, because I have a namesake ancestor who was an aviation pioneer and who used on-board instruments from this magnificent Swiss brand. It was therefore natural that I would turn to a watch with the characteristics of pilot watches with a little retro side. Then, the aesthetics of the dial, the green ceramic bezel, and this magnificent 42mm case completely captivated me. I love the combination of colors, materials and textures on this jewel. The finishes and quality are also incredible, not to mention its precision. Indeed, the CoSC certification is largely overlooked by my favorite timepiece. This watch is simply magical.

Retro, sober and rich in details

Love at first sight when I saw this little Spirit in 39 mm, and I really loved this steel & gold version that I finally bought.

This GMT pilot is super original and remains very understated despite the presence of gold on the bezel, crown, hands, indexes, and the beautiful hooping at the base of the flange.

Initially on a steel bracelet with excellent finishes, I like to wear it on this black nato that only lets the attributes and finishes of the watch stand out. The balance between the gold, steel, anthracite dial, and chocolate bezel is incredible.

This beauty is powered by the COSC-certified L844.4 4-hand GMT movement.
