By dint of rummaging around here and there to be surprised by an unknown watch... I was once again cracked by this Omega Constellation F300 Hz. My taste for this type of hybrid watch that has made the connection between mechanical watchmaking and cheap and bland Quartz is not new... but in this case the design makes the difference. This Omega called D-Shape in the shape of a capital D is simply stunning... A shape like you rarely come across. Equipped with the famous ESA caliber - based on Bulova Accutron technology - it seduces you with its characteristic hum that keeps you awake! The precision was fantastic for the time (late 70s early 80s) even if today it leaves a little to be desired. The bracelet is absolutely perfect in terms of integration and comfort. This Omega Constellation remains however a watch for seasoned collectors who are not very moved by the small daily hassles of this type of watch. You have to know how to change the battery and be patient to have it serviced or repaired if necessary, because watchmakers who are willing to put their hands in it are increasingly rare. This watch is important in my collection - with the Zodiac Olympos - because they gave me a taste for asymmetrical watches... Maybe it is the missing bridge that will make me treat myself to an asymmetrical Carter Tank with Roman numerals... And there you understand all the complexity of the passion for watchmaking.
