When it was presented at Baselword 2021 I was captivated by the rejuvenation work of the legendary Calatrava. Apart from a few rare models, I found their watches too classic, too "old-fashioned". This new Calatrava Clous de Paris is a turning point that clearly aims to attract a new, younger clientele... of which I am one :). It is exceptional on the wrist and the white gold gives it a presence that is both discreet and "dazzling"

I have several very beautiful watches in my collection, but the GRAIL has always been for me the 5711. After years of waiting, efforts, sacrifices and choices, I broke my piggy bank and bought myself my GRAIL.

My Grail

It was a revelation from its presentation at Baselword 2019. Both classic and model, this 40mm steel model represented for me a "renewal" of the PP ranges. Apart from the Nautilus, I found the models too classic, often too complex. This new model, original by its complication and its writings, was an immediate favorite. It is exceptional to wear, very light, it is perfectly suitable for everyday use.

For years, I was looking at this watch without really understanding the concept. One day, for no reason, my opinion changed...and this watch became an obsession. Unique because of its square shape, because of its winder on the left, this watch has become an obvious choice in my collection. Despite its shape, it fits very well on the wrist and is very comfortable.

The Patek Philippe brand was created in 1839 by Antoine Norbert de Patek and Fran&ccedil;ois Czapek in Geneva, Switzerland. Historic brand of Haute Horlogerie, Patek Philippe is part of the very closed circle of the oldest manufacturers still in operation. It is notably at the origin of the caliber 89, the first pocket caliber with 33 complications. Since its creation, it has had real know-how in artisanal know-how and a strong capacity to innovate. Owner of this 5711 for over 10 years... I've been a simple watch enthusiast for quite some time now, and back then we could buy this kind of watch without any difficulty. When I see now that this is no longer possible... I wonder how it will last. I have the opportunity to visit my friends at the European Watch Company on Newbury Street, and I'm amazed by the actual sale prices for second-hand! I'm glad I bought a new one for $20,000 before all the hype disturbed the established order. This watch is the most beautiful in my collection, not always easy to wear as it scratches quickly and is sometimes a little too flashy! Otherwise, what a treat in terms of sleek lines, like a 911... A very simple design that has become iconic in modern watchmaking.

Many ask me if this is Patek's iconic watch? For the public, the answer is probably yes, but for watch enthusiasts, clearly no! In any case, not for me... I'd be tempted by a 5960 Patek Philippe Annual Calendar 5960P Chronograph Platinum Grey Dial, on sale at European Watch Company. For me, it's the Patek style with its 3 counters, very characteristic of complications models of the brand.

Finally, thanks to the It's About Time newsletter, which introduced me to this platform... It's nice, it can be improved, but it's a pleasure to be able to share passion and emotions quietly and safely. THX #redsoxnation

Iconic by any standards

There is so much to say about this watch. A watchmaking project of several years that had its share of suspense to finally be able to get this model with a white dial that had caught my eye in Basel. For the time the price was already excessive for me, today, it has become anything ... In short. It is a watch that will remain in my collection. It has enormous qualities, a finish, a level of detail that I have difficulty finding elsewhere and a hypnotic case back. In terms of reliability and precision nothing to complain about never maintained, in 10 years, it works like a Swiss cuckoo clock! Worn with care, I only take it out on rare occasions or in safe places as it has become so recognizable and expensive ... Too bad. It is one of the most comfortable watches I have on my wrist. On the other hand, its quality / price ratio has become completely insane, we have to be serious. It is rare, certainly, but apart from the emotion it provides, qualitatively and concretely its price (market) is far too high compared to the competition.

The brand Ollech &amp; Wajs was created in 1956 by Joseph Ollech and Albert Wajs in Zurich, Switzerland.
