The "chronology" in the purchase of this watch is important, and yes, ... after having acquired the watch of my childhood dreams 5.6 years before, a blue Date 15200, with its crazy blue ... I was so happy with it that I had no need for another one, having worn it every day for 5 years without fail as if it were any Swatch ... then, came the moment ... when I dressed in black ... the Blue .... It was "crappy" .... And at the same time, when I saw all these people around me, often well worn .... Especially when it was "an old one", all the movie actors, singers, artists .... Everyone I admired had it .... It was not necessarily my favorite at first ... the proof is, I bought it after the blue one in the perfect size .... And then, one morning ... I had the money in cash stashed at home .... I was looking at a book of Steve McQueen photos, he had a No Date… and bam, here we go… I asked around who could get me 20 points… impossible in 2005… (I had a 20% discount on the blue one at the end of 99…) but I still managed to get the 10 points… Good!!!! €3290!!! It’s quickly forgotten 😁…. At the same time, I had seen a sublime Red Sub from the 70’s for €3800, in 2005 it was possible… today, they are easily worth 20 or 25,000… too bad… I was less daring… and then I wanted it to be mine… I would patina it myself…. And then, love at first sight…. For at least 5 years, I only wore the Sub… at the time everyone wanted it with the date… fashions change and have proven me right…. When people noticed that I had a Sub, I always suspected that it was a fake, and I explained to them, oh yes... it's really ordinary to wear that... disconcertingly ordinary... I almost apologized, it's impossible to have a fake, it's ridiculous, there have been millions of them... But deep down, I knew that it was the most desirable... I've known collectors with incredible watches... and who only wore their Sub every day... that's where I explained to everyone... what is a good watch???? The one you never put in a drawer... And especially don't buy similar models from other, cheaper brands... While continuing to dream of a Sub on other people's wrists... A purchase of a lifetime, that you never regret... And that I would have immense pleasure in passing on to my son later before he dies….😁it will create a lifelong bond if he doesn’t get hit….

“Like everyone else, I wanted my Submariner….”

This watch, acquired about twenty years ago (50 bucks), from a second-hand dealer friend, I had fallen for its dial and its hands with a fantastic patina… Nothing to envy a Sub 5513 with tritium for the patina… In 36, flat and organic domed glass, flat case and tonneau format… very fashionable at the time…. It works extremely well, one service in 50 years… It dates from the early 70s, let’s say 73, that suits me… I told myself that this Michel Herbelin sports watch was much prettier than their production of the last 30-40 years…. 
It reminds me of those Sunday sports watches, because it’s not waterproof… more like Saucifald and Gitanes Filtres… It has the charm of watches from another era, like San Antonio, SAS, OSS117 or Diabolik….
I recently waited for a real motivation from the Herbelin brand to get back "in the game"... They are targeting the Asian market... with the know-how🇫🇷... it could become the next "hype"... Mine might see its rating explode

The OSS 117 watch!!!!

It's not easy to find a nice Pepsi, despite the plethora of models offered in all brands, I had tried the Tudor, too big, And to think that I had never noticed this model (admittedly, it doesn't do GMT) a tad smaller than a Sub, flatter, super comfortable... and a quality of steel???!!!! Incredible??! I tried a GMT 1675 from 78 a month ago, to see... and to check if it was love at first sight despite "its low price" of €18,500... it was correct, but not crazy in terms of patina... This one, with its slightly blue slate dial, and the quality of manufacture?!!! Just incredible, especially for the price.... 120 balls?!? the patina, the fresh butter indexes!?!? It is over 30 years old… it is a model followed from 83 to 93 more or less.. after it evolved less well… the current model is in 43?!!? And visually disgusting… I am Happy as the day I bought my first Rolex!!!! And that, it is priceless… only unknown, the kinetic movement.. which some complain about… the previous owner in over 30 years… zero hassle.. I tend to trust Seiko… it is a bit like a Land Cruiser… indestructible

The Ultimate Pepsi!!! Back to the 80's

It's one of those watches that you discover on platforms... Especially when you're in full lockdown... my birthday is coming up... and I said to myself... but I can treat myself to a nice watch... without leaving my house!!??? Living in Madrid, the idea of having a watch 🇫🇷that's not sold in my area!! Waaaah, size 39, domed glass, "huge" trapezoidal chrono markers... black off-white contrast... Once again, if it had been a 41... I wouldn't have bought it... "Who buys Westons in 44 when they wear a 41????? » not me… same for watches… to hell with this “stupid” fashion for huge watches… This Yema, a brand that I confused a bit with Timex… nothing to do with it, Yema created in 1948, with a real history of divers and sports watches at the 🇫🇷… a quality mechanism inside… quartz… but at 180€ starting price at that time… which I lovingly “PaulNewmanéized” by customizing its bracelet… this watch has a crazy look… especially dressed in black.. a bit rock’nroll…. Yema is showing a creativity currently that I find many big brands currently lack…. To be continued….

My love of watches began when I was 3 years old… yes, yes… It was 1976, I had a small blue plastic watch with no mechanism… which I constantly reset using the kitchen clock… at 7 years old, 1980 my first real watch, a Capion quartz… “the same as James Bond”… at 12 years old, absolute love at first sight with a blue 15200 Date… seen in Vogue Hommes, worn very well… and every time I saw it worn by anyone… always worn very well… the height of cool and sporty elegance… I dreamed of it for my 15th, 18th birthday… well I would have waited until 26… But not “50”… It is much more beautiful and finer than its current Rolex counterpart… it is with it that it all began

As mentioned above, I would dream of having a Daytona 6263 Big Red.. either Panda "à la Coluche or à la Gainsbourg" or the reverse Panda "à la Bebel" the Grail.... But in view of the stratospheric prices between 75 and 125,000€ I gave up on it... in the years 2010/12, when they were worth 23/25,000€... it seemed very expensive to me... but conceivable.. "if I had known, I should have rushed to buy it... Finally, when I saw the Seiko Prospex Chronograph arrive (I managed to get it new for 600€).... It was a bargain… In size 39, perfect… if it had been in 41 or 42, I would not have bought it… to my taste, vulgar… It has the good taste to reproduce a subtlety all Rolex… the marker at the bottom is slightly smaller than the 2 at the top… which allows a harmony just perfect in the dial “it breathes better” and that many other brands much more prestigious at the cost of tens of thousands of Euros do not bother to do… and they are ugly to my taste…. Its power reserve of 15 to 18 years solar, equal to a good automatic before its revision… real Tool Watch as I like them…
