A deep black dial, beige indexes, numbers with inspired typography, an ideal format (40 mm) for my wrist. I find only qualities in it.
The bracelet is correct. The movement is sufficiently precise and enduring (50-hour reserve, drift of less than 10 seconds more per day).
The slightly domed sapphire crystal has beautiful deformations.
One defect however, it is no longer manufactured and relatively rare in good condition.

The perfect everyday watch?

Very nice watch, the perfect size (40.5 x 13.2 mm) for my wrist (17.5 cm). Very comfortable. Nice bracelet of correct quality with 4 micro-adjustments.
I really like the shape of the case and the alternation of polished brushes.
The movement is precise (less than 5 seconds more per day).
Its main asset is its superb textured dial with a thousand reflections. The indexes and hands are also very qualitative.

Since the release of the Limited Edition Chronograph with Enamel dial, black Arabic numerals with the red "12" at noon, in 2017, paying homage to the first wristwatch from Seikosha (the name of the manufacturer at the time), the Laurel, I have been interested in this chronograph. Then this version, black Roman numerals, was released 2 years later, still with the 8R48 chronograph movement featuring a column wheel and a vertical clutch. The Enamel dials are still subcontracted by an independent enameler, Mitsuru Yokosawa. The manufacture of such dials (3 raised sub-dials 😳), requires a know-how that has become rare. The work is artisanal, done by hand and therefore reserved for small series. Mitsuri Yokosawa says she can only make 200 per month. Since I acquired this model, I have had a hard time wearing another one. This synthesis between traditional watchmaking, recalled by the Email dial, with this typography, which was present on almost all pocket watches, clocks, etc ... especially throughout the 19th century, and the modernity of the case, its technicality (movement), makes this watch very interesting and endearing. In addition, today, Seiko no longer produces an Email dial chronograph, which makes this model a fairly rare watch.

Seiko Presage Chronograph Enamel Dial

I find this watch very elegant and original. Its three dials (day of the week, date and day/night) give it a practical aspect and a complicated quartz watch. I particularly like its shape, the black striated dial with its three inlaid dials, as well as the movement of the seconds which is reminiscent of that of a mechanical watch.

Seiko Presage Day/Date

My first Seiko and probably not the last.

I just bought this magnificent Seiko Style 60's GMT.

First of all, I would like to point out that I bought this watch in the Seiko boutique in Aix-en-Provence, the service and advice were great from the boutique manager.

I find this watch superb, indeed, it has a blue-gray dial that offers multiple shades.
The shiny applied indexes really bring out the light.
The diameter of 40.75mm may seem large but the GMT bezel really reduces the diameter.
The GMT bezel has a very light two-tone that I didn't notice right away.

I find the finishes of this watch incredible for the price.

On the other hand, there is one thing that I can't understand why the Style 60's collection is part of the Presage range?
We are halfway between dressy and sporty ("sport-chic")?

In short, it is a bipolar watch but it is no less magnificent.
There will definitely be another Seiko in my collection one day.


Fatal Beauty

A little gem that accompanies me on every occasion. This Seiko marks both the first watch I own and a gift given to me by my family for my 25th birthday. It therefore logically has great value when I wear it and admire it.
I particularly love this green dial which, marked by the light (outside or inside), reflects a different light each time you look at it.

My first watch

Seiko Presage spb127J1 limited edition of 1964 pieces in the design of the Seiko Crown Chronograph released in 1964 for the Tokyo Olympic Games.
The watch was released in 2020, it is to celebrate the event of the Tokyo Summer Games for the 2nd time (56 years later).
Its retro sunray dial, partly guilloché in a circle, its black bezel, its hands and its faceted indexes are magnificent and very well worked. It catches light from all angles. It is one of the watches that I wear the most.

JO de Tokyo 1964

The Seiko SPB069J1 was produced in 1,500 copies worldwide as the first Seiko with a colored enamel dial (neither white nor black), in this case blue. It was followed by a non-limited edition poetically called SARX053, but which does not have a railway but a graduation to the fifth of a second traditional for Seiko models, even if it is not adapted to the frequency of the 6R15 movement... I really like this "Moonlit Night" not only for its deep blue dial, which reproduces shades of blue on a very broad spectrum depending on the light (and whose effect is not at all the same as a sunray dial), but also its Lyre case and its bezel that I find particularly successful. The only negative point of this dial is the date, which Seiko saw fit to provide the window with a sticker that restores the white frame and is a bit of a stain even if you don't notice it in normal use. The endless seconds hand has a moon-shaped counterweight, gilded on this model, while the transparent case back is also decorated on this limited edition with a crescent moon. Indeed, like any self-respecting Seiko, the inspiration for this model is that of the path of the Moon, which occupies a special place in Japanese culture, on a night sky, with all the nuances of color that enamel restores. It is with this homage in mind that one must admire this piece, by emptying one's mind...

Seiko Presage Limited Edition "Moonlit Night" SPB069J1

Total crush on this magnificent omen. I walked past the window about ten times to finally fall for this superb Seiko. Then I had to decide between the green, the blue, the white? Difficult to choose but I finally opted for this pretty copper color that is rare to my knowledge. It has everything to please me. A GMT hand, a power reserve and a date dial that is unfortunately a little too small. I'm not even talking about the dial with this pattern that catches the light and the very angular case that gives a very modern look to the whole thing. The second hand flies on the dial with its 8 vibrations per second which adds even more to the pleasure of looking at it. My favorite watch? Maybe.

Presage GMT Sharp Edged

This Seiko model (SARGOO9) is for me a perfect alternative to explorer or ranger type watches with its own identity and charm. 
The design of this watch is perfectly done in my opinion. I find it very versatile and can be adapted for a casual and/or more dressy and conventional style. The cream-colored Arabic numerals on the dial are due to the most beautiful effect, the date is very well integrated. This watch is equipped with the 6R15 from Seiko, the bottom of the case is open to observe the movement. The case measures 40mm in diameter, the proportions of this Seiko are ideal and sits well on the wrist. The 10ATM water resistance is very correct. Honestly, I don't see any negative point on this watch apart from getting it because it is no longer produced by Seiko. But if you like it, go for it!

A Japanese girl to go on an adventure

This very elegant omen condenses for me all the know-how of Seiko. Its lacquered dial with this indefinable color is beautiful and its very classic hands suit it perfectly. A power reserve, a retrograde date and day, complete the whole in a beautiful way and the Roman numeral indexes have their place on this model. It is certainly the classiest in my collection. A marvel!

Craftmanship Series

Offered by my wife, during our trip to Tokyo, the day after her marriage proposal in front of the Sensoji temple.
Just after visiting the Seiko museum, we went to the Ginza store. I originally wanted a Seiko Alpinist and I fell in love with it (you can't do anything about it when it's love at first sight...). Whether it's the dial with the date sub-counter, the case, the power reserve, the domed glass, the visible caliber... I just changed the steel bracelet directly at the store for a brown leather strap from Hirsch. The service was funny and quality with all the charm and respect that the Japanese can have. Just the bezel that marks easily but the watches are made to be worn. A must-see in Tokyo especially since they are 20% off the French price and with some collectors.

A memorable memory

Here is a very elegant little Seiko in an ice blue dress with multiple reflections. Quite classic in its design, it presents some interesting complications such as the date reading at 6 o'clock in a dedicated dial (yes, you need to have good eyesight, but as I'm not a fan of windows, it's perfect) and an indication of the power reserve (40 hours for this model) by a small hand between noon and 4 o'clock. The small dark blue details on some hands enhance the whole thing. The leather strap with folding clasp is easily adjustable and the transparent back lets you see the movement with a gold and openwork oscillating weight. The only small flaw is the domed hardlex glass which adds a little thickness to the whole (14.4mn in total). A "dress watch" for every day that does "the job"

She doesn't leave you cold

A watch that I have long wanted, because of the blued hands, nicely drawn Arabic numerals, textured white background, historical reminder of SEIKO. For a reasonable budget, I did not deprive myself of it. In the end I now find it at the upper limit of size, Ø40.5, no more is needed on this type of case. Very elegant in its graphics, a little less in its size, a compromise watch. A little austere on its original dark brown leather, I preferred a mounting on orange perlon with patterns, complementary colors oblige, the blued hands stand out fantastically (unlike a blue Jean strap, which completely neutralized the dial). Laurel & hardie

When I first saw this SEIKO SRPA13J1, I immediately fell in love with it. Unfortunately, it was no longer produced, but after a few months of searching, I managed to find it new at a jeweler near me, who had it in stock for........a while already! Hence a fairly easy negotiation....
I like many things about it, starting with its very beautiful textured dial. And then there are also its leaf hands and the very thin second hand, the nicely crafted crown, the shape of the case, the perfect diameter of 39mm, the faceted indexes, the water resistance of 10 bars, etc...
Only the movement is not crazy crazy. A basic 4R35, with just correct precision. It would have deserved better.
Still, I find it much more harmonious than my Presage Blue Moon.
I really like this watch, and with a cream strap it is almost perfect.

Elegance according to SEIKO

Geared towards rather sporty watches, I still needed a watch that was a little more dressy while keeping a cheerful side. I was not ready to put a large budget for this type of watch, because I knew that I would wear it little.
It was natural that I looked at Seiko. The brand has a rather good reputation in a reasonable price range. The Seiko Presage called "mojito" seduced me. Its dial is the main asset of this watch, sometimes emerald green, sometimes dark green, it is a delight for the eyes. The hands are half polished and half brushed. This is rare at this price level. The diameter is contained, and it can easily be placed on the wrist of Madame.
The caliber 4r35 does not work miracles, but fulfills its mission. It is also a bit of a lottery in terms of precision. At first it did not bother me too much, but in the long run this lack of precision becomes annoying. The case back is open and the oscillating weight is gilded for a bit of decoration.
The original bracelet is not of great quality, but it does the job. It is equipped with quick releases, which shows that Seiko knows that it is not great. So it can be changed easily.
In the end, what more could you ask for for this low price? Because let's not forget that Seiko is a historic watch brand in the watchmaking landscape.

Seiko Presage SRPE41J1

I have had this presage for five years. It is a model that is a limited series of 3500 copies. I really like this watch for its dial. It represents cherry blossoms, a symbol of Japan. I really like the range, a simple, refined model but still as pleasant to look at in the sun. The movement works correctly 9s / 24h. Conclusion a pretty Seiko that makes me happy.

Seiko Sakura fubuki

As the title indicates, this watch is a reissue of a legend from the Seiko catalog, the 1964 single-pusher chronograph. I didn't know this chronograph when this watch was presented in 2020 and what I liked about this new product was the combination of the chic/refined look of the Presage range and the sporty look with this black bezel contrasting with this beautiful gray/cream dial with several textures. I like the dial/index/hand combination that sparkles everywhere and all the time. If you're a fan of reflection, dark!

I weigh my words when I say that this combination would have its place in the GS range.

The unpleasant points, however: the original strap is, let's face it, more than questionable, so as with most of my watches, I replaced it with a rubber one. And the diameter of 41.3mm which didn't necessarily bother me in 2020 but today I would rather opt for a 39 / 40mm.

a reissue of a chrono without a chrono

The SARY057 is the very first Seiko watch that entered my collection. It is not ready to leave it. This watch has won me over thanks to its simplicity and its go-with-everything side. I have had this watch for about 5 years and it always does the job when I put it on my wrist!
