At the time of purchase I needed a watch with a blue dial and a chrono to complete my collection.

I had just rediscovered the Yema brand and this model was on sale. The choice was quickly made especially since I have always been a fan of astronomy and space.

The watch is comfortable to wear on its original fabric strap but I opted for a silicone strap from the Barton brand which takes up the blue of the dial and the red of the chronometer hand.



Head in the stars.

What a slap when you open a Serica case for the first time. For me it's the second time, because I already own a field watch from the brand, the 4512. It feels like discovering a model that has existed since the 50s while being in love with modernity. The finishes are impeccable. The COSC certificate is a guarantee of technical quality even if between you and me it's the last of my worries because when I want precision, I have quartz models! The Milanese mesh is pleasant to wear, the watch is forgotten because although present on the wrist, it does not weigh too much! Comfort on the wrist, technical elegance, at a reasonable price... what more could you ask for? A classic for sure.

Instant classic

This Tissot was on sale on a British site and it was the dial that made me order it. In the center there is a sunburst area that reminds me of a vinyl record and as a music lover it immediately spoke to me. The watch is very comfortable to wear with its well-made metal bracelet. An ETA movement powers the whole thing with good timekeeping. This watch is perfect for every day but is also quite classic and can therefore accompany a more formal outfit. The 19mm lug width limits the choice of bracelets in store but you can find great options online.

An uninspired name for a beautiful, affordable timepiece.

I have only known the Sinn brand for a couple of years. I had indeed missed it but by looking at more and more watch content the brand has established itself in my mind as a reference of robustness and quality. I am very attracted to tool watches especially military type and the reference 556 had been making me dream for a while. I opted for the magnificent blue dial of the 556 I B because while being a simple watch it can still be dressed up. The Sinn steel bracelet is incredible. The links are secured using rivets that must be unscrewed with 2 small Allen keys supplied with the watch. Just a little more complicated than a classic system with the assurance of the robustness of the link in addition. The movement is visible through the case back with its oscillating weight marked with the Sinn logo of the most beautiful effect. Thanks to its screw-down crown the watch is water-resistant up to 200m, as well as a diver. The movement seems very precise to me so far. It is a Sellita SW200-1 and the case is anti-magnetic. Everything is there to make this timepiece an essential tool for everyday use, with a welcome touch of elegance provided by the galvanized dial that goes from blue to purple depending on the lighting.

Quality in "daily".

Before receiving this watch as a gift, I was content with quartz watches, mainly Gshock and Pulsar. Then the Kinetic movement with its oscillating weight visible through the case back led me to take an interest in mechanical and automatic movements. This watch did not leave me for several years during which I wore it daily to the office. It is very precise thanks to the quartz movement but does not require a battery change thanks to the Kinetic technology which combines the precision of quartz and the autonomy of an automatic. This watch and its many other variations are perfect daily watches in my opinion. The quality is also there with a beautiful case and an ultra-readable dial. The date window on a black background is also an additional touch of elegance. The original black leather strap gave up on me a few years ago and I now wear it on a Barton nato strap.

Seiko Kinetic 

A beautifully crafted 70s-look watch with a Seiko 7s26 automatic movement with a 41-hour power reserve. I fell for the look of this watch, which is a bit big all the same with a diameter of 43.5mm but which sits well on my wrist despite everything. The quality/price/pleasure ratio is always there at Seiko. It's a nice watch that I wear from time to time and that I enjoy wearing on its original metal bracelet or on a Barton brand rally-type leather strap or on an olive green nato strap from Sniper Bay.

Seiko Recraft Series SNKM97

It is rare to see truly original models among the multitude of divers released each year. It must be said that the pioneers and then the big names who forged this segment of watchmaking have inscribed a certain idea of what a diver is in the collective imagination. This is largely why I did not own a diver a couple of years ago. Then, being a Seiko fan since I was little, I finally wanted to treat myself to a model from the Prospex range. I had to go on vacation to Cape Verde and I wanted a solid and waterproof adventurer's watch. And there the Monster model that I did not like in its first iterations became obvious. Released in 2000, the first generations had a look that was too aggressive for my taste, but this fourth generation is simply perfect. It takes up the originality of the original case and bezel but with more sensible indexes. For me this model is original and well-typed and my watch has undergone several quad outings and repeated baths in the ocean and in the hotel pool. It has not moved and the 4R36 movement it carries has proven to be very precise. However, I have not tested its chronometry seriously for the moment so this is just a feeling.

The everyday monster.

Yema was created in 1948 by Henry Louis Belmont in Besan&ccedil;on in France. It became famous for its sporty and robust watches made in France and in particular the Yema Superman which in 1963 became the first French watch waterproof to 300 meters. After difficult years during the quartz crisis, Yema has regained momentum by promoting its historical heritage and offering in-house movements like its micro-rotor caliber launched in 2022.
