Hello, I present to you my 500 meter diving watch. I find this model quite massive and heavy on the wrists but what makes it different is its gunmetal PVD color. Very efficient and precise with a night lighting of ouff (lume superminova) I am able to declare a wall at 5-6 inches away this is part of what I like about this watch. Unfortunately the model no longer exists at the manufacturer. Too bad! My model was available on a rubber strap of the same color as the dial. From memory 6 colors available (red, black, orange, green, gray and blue) for me it's blue and PVD metal strap!.

A dive by the Swiss army!

I have been a fan of Swiss watches for several years. A lot of research time to fill and maintain my watchmaking passion on different brands and models. I discovered and started to get interested in brands made in France and the popular Yema superman caught my eye from the first images. After a long period of waiting I decided to buy my watch on the Yema website, conquered since the first day, it has accompanied me since.

A French diver

Yema was created in 1948 by Henry Louis Belmont in Besan&ccedil;on in France. It became famous for its sporty and robust watches made in France and in particular the Yema Superman which in 1963 became the first French watch waterproof to 300 meters. After difficult years during the quartz crisis, Yema has regained momentum by promoting its historical heritage and offering in-house movements like its micro-rotor caliber launched in 2022.

Hello, my name is Benjamin and I am the happy owner of this Yema Superman Steelbronze green dial 39mm what can I say about this piece with its yema2000 movement clocked at 21600a/h which is relatively precise +/-10sec/day which suits me perfectly with its vintage side coming from the bezel block and its domed sapphire which brings a real feeling of robustness and solidity all enhanced by the few bronze elements which make it lively a watch which belongs to its owner and its wearer thanks to the patina which develops over time if I had to choose a detail of this watch which always makes me admire it if it is without a doubt its most controversial point in terms of design this shovel-shaped seconds hand with this red dot at the base and the luminova which is superbly pleasant to see without being aggressive not to mention the fact that the bezel is perfectly centered on the indexes and the annotations which are the stamping of the brand the logo and the automatic and 990feet mentions which are presented but discreet and which do not distort the dial and the harmony of the watch although the 19mm lug width gives a little more trouble to find a bracelet easily for me who prefers to buy in store but these are the emblematic dimensions of Yema and that is undoubtedly why it is also captivating and hypnotic and this Yema logo with the historic Y which is affixed very proudly and precisely on the dial the case back the crown and the pin buckle

A hypnotic watch

The bronze finish of my watch case, a success on this steel case. The Superman bezel/case assembly is in my eyes one of the most successful in the world of divers, with a very fine notch between bezel & case. Everything could be going well if it weren't for 2 personal & recurring problems that I have with the "modern" Yema. I won't mention the unjustified utility block bezel that I forced in order to leave the bezel free to use. 1 _ The printed indexes are too "dry and entry-level", without nuance (hour dots & minute/second dashes). By observing the old models, I realize that this uncompromising aesthetic is a guarantee of good reading of the time in all circumstances, I learn to put things into perspective & integrate this point... 2_ The double-domed sapphire crystal. I like it when form follows function, here, form flees function, from the slightest tilt of the watch, the bad refraction of the glass comes to opacify the glass & close the dial, after a short parasitic / charming distortion (depending on the mood) of the indexes. In short, a real bottle bottom that harms good reading and which implies a vision of the time restrictive to the normal, at the zenith of the dial. It's a shame, these Superman are in many ways endearing, but it smells like the bottom of the box or even the definitive exit.

Bijou ?

This pretty Yema is a favorite. The colors of the dial blend perfectly with the bronze bezel and the pretty green tropical bracelet from Joseph Bonnie, which is very comfortable. 100% French watch. Its vintage sporty side with its small diameter of 39mm and its impressive double-domed sapphire makes it truly charming.
