The overhaul of your magnificent 106-50-6 manufacture movement was a formality. You were still running after all. A sleeping beauty.

Your dial remains in its original condition. A patina that testifies to your long life.

Your horn is slightly twisted but I love you like that.

A light polishing revealed a magnificent pink gold and not yellow. A splendor.

Your dauphine hands are splendid.

Here you are again among us. I am proud to wear you on my wrist.



Zenith or 60s. A resurrection after 50 years in the drawer

Buren grand prix watch. 14k gold. Lizard strap.

Diameter 33 mm. Very flat.

Probably 1965 according to my research.

Manufacture caliber Buren 280 copper finish. Grand prix logo. 17 jewels.

2-hand dial. That's what I like the most!
Beautiful sunray silver that changes with the light. Magnificent applied Buren logo.

Two small stars at 6 o'clock. I don't know what they mean.

A sleeping beauty from January 1970.

The Zenith brand was created in 1865 by Georges Favre-Jacot in Le Locle, Switzerland. A pioneer in Swiss watchmaking in the creation of a true vertically integrated manufacture, Zenith aimed to create the most precise watch of its time at the best price. Over the years, it has established itself as a benchmark for precision and expertise in many fields.
In 1899, the marque Zenith presents its first pocket chronograph and wins various prizes, including first prize at the Paris Motor Show. In 1911 Georges Favre-Jacot handed over management of the factory to his descendants, who named it Zenith, the name of the highest point in the trajectory of a star in the sky.
In 1920, Zenith launched its first wristwatches and continued its development until, in 1960, it purchased the Martel Watch Co. Nine years later, the brand gave birth to the El Primero movement, the first chronograph equipped with a rotor winding mechanism. central. It was only nine years later that Zenith returned to the hands of Swiss investors who revived the brand's mechanical movements such as the El Primero.

A very cute ZENITH from the 50s, with a very pretty patina of the dial chiseled by time. 34 mm case with rather original horns, a movement that works perfectly. A great classic, but of very good quality. We are rarely disappointed when we buy this kind of vintage.

In search of times gone by

Here is a small ZENITH (34 mm) from the 50s, that I have had for over 30 years now.
It is a watch that could not be more classic, but with nice lugs.
I do not understand, however, the inflation that there is on these models, under the pretext that it is a known brand.
OK, it is reliable, it works well, and I am very happy with it. I had also bought another one in the process (the same, but gold plated and large second hand).....But hey, there are plenty of small classic watches from less renowned brands that do the job just as well, and are worthy of interest.
If mine were for sale today, I think I would pass my way. After all, it is only my opinion, and I totally respect those who are looking for a ZENITH like this one and are ready to pay the price.
But for me, there are so many little unknown vintage gems to discover...
