A virile and fine diver at the same time, superbly finished

4.8

This is the third creation by Blaise-Dominique Giuliani, a designer based in Marseille, after the Mille-Mer and the Star-Diver. We find Bohen's codes in the shapes of the case. The watch is very thin (less than 13 mm) for a resistance of 600 meters. The finishes are superb, from the brushed sunray dial in shades of gray and black (which also has brown highlights of the most beautiful effect) to the indexes, to the case itself, alternating brushed steel and polished steel. As on its big sisters, an absolutely perfect bracelet, large adjustment range in the clasp, very strong decrease in the width of the bracelet between the width at the lugs and that at the clasp, which contributes to the stability of the watch on the wrist. A high-quality hyper luminova, which still allows you to read the time at the end of the night. The case back is not transparent, which is not surprising for a watch diving to this depth, and a shame because Blaise-Dominique reworks the movement provided by Soprod a lot. 60-click bezel, very precise and well adjusted Note that the watch is delivered in a superb case, and with two rubber straps that can be very easily put on. After a few days and nights on the wrist: a very easy watch to wear, on my large 23 cm wrists, as on more "normal" wrists, due to short horns, the balance of the watch, the decreasing width of the strap. A strap that is easy to adjust in a few seconds to the variations in circumference of your wrist. And above all, a very beautiful watch, a magnificent dial with changing reflections, whose balance is not disturbed by a date window, perfect readability, a contained diameter. Original design, and yet a reassuring watch by its presence, its weight, its balance. A watch that is very easy to wear on a daily basis, more so than its two big sisters, which are more tool-watch type.

Originality, quality and efficiency

5.0

I discovered Bohen this summer, by chance, while wandering the internet. The model presented was the Stardiver and I fell in love (in Canada we would say in love) with this somewhat disruptive design compared to current watch production. Love at first sight is difficult to explain, it is experienced, but I will still try to share my experience with you. I received the watch in mid-September, I chose the model with a steel bracelet, this bracelet is worth the detour in itself. Indeed, it is adjustable without tools thanks to an ingenious locking system on the links, the adjustment of comfort on the wrist will be finished by using a small lever on the clasp, which allows the perfect adjustment to the wrist. Everything in this watch exudes quality, whether it is the sapphire crystal, the ceramic crown, the feeling of its clicking, the screwed back in grade 5 titanium magnificently engraved with the words Excellence Reliability Precision, the program is announced. The watch comes in a magnificent case that would make some so-called luxury brands pale. Before ordering the watch, because the concept of pre-ordering a watch for more than €3K that you haven't been able to touch, feel, try, led me to have a long conversation on the phone with Blaise, who really took the time to explain to me the genesis of this watch and the reasons for certain choices, his conviction, his fervor convinced me and I ordered it after hanging up. I am happy with this purchase.

High-performance and innovative diver of French design

4.8

Second model designed by Blaise-Dominique Giuliani after the Mille-Mer already described on the site. Like its big sister, it is a diver, 1000 meters, improved Soprod movement base, steel, helium valve, with an original design and whose details have been thought out with great care. Less "brutal", heavy and thick than the Mille-mer, this StarDiver is more discreet, more readable, while remaining a magnificent tool watch. In terms of design, successful alternation of curves and angles, matte and polished areas. Same superb Japanese sapphire crystal as the mille-mer, splendid blue reflections, and a luminova like I have never seen. 60-click bezel with no play. The bracelet alone is worth the detour: removal of the links by pusher without tools, change of bracelet (two rubber bracelets provided in addition to the steel bracelet) without tools, and fine adjustment (up to one cm) easy and precise at the clasp. the decrease between the width between lugs and at the clasp contributes to the balance when worn, in addition to its successful aesthetic aspect. The packaging is of great class and further reinforces the pleasure associated with this beautiful tool. Blaise Dominique Giuliani communicates on the networks, on his creations, his intentions, the justification of the smallest details retained in the watch. He is easily reachable and this reinforces in my opinion the pleasure and intimacy that are built with this watch.

Bohen Mille Mer Review

5.0

The case It's quite unusual, and that's what you immediately notice: the crown is located at 12 o'clock. It's wide enough to be easily handled, and fits into the first link of the bracelet, which thus provides a protective role. The hexagonal case, in 316L stainless steel, benefits from an alternation of polished or brushed finishes. This brings out the aggressive character of its very marked lines towards the horns, offset by softer curves on the sides, which are polished. The case is topped with a steel bezel with a ceramic insert. This, as with any diving watch, turns unidirectionally, here in 60 clicks. It benefits from a numbering every 10 minutes and more marked indexes up to 20 minutes, the one located at noon being luminescent. The glass is a sapphire crystal dome, treated with a double anti-reflective layer on its inner side. The feel is quite exceptional and clearly goes in the direction of the announced quality, the reading of the time being possible whatever the angle of the light source, which is not always the case with domed glasses. It can be added that this one presents bluish reflections depending on the viewing angle. The dial The dial of the Mille Mer is a jewel! The indexes go up towards the flange, thus offering more space on the dial. They have been treated with Superluminova X1, the desired effect is there: it impresses! The hands are quite wide (and benefit from a beautiful surface of Superluminova) for effective readability. The detail that we cannot ignore is obviously the internal date magnifier. It is a unique element, and I who generally tend to avoid magnifying glasses, I must say that this one is of the most beautiful effect. Its integration is perfect, and (this is very personal) I find that it gives even more character to the Mille Mer. The bracelet If the bracelet were ordinary on an exceptional watch, that would be the only thing that would be remembered. For the Mille Mer, this is clearly not the case, and I was very pleasantly surprised when I was able to see it in person. To begin with, and even if once again this is very personal, I find it magnificent! The central link as well as the internal facets are polished, while the exterior is brushed. It is beautiful! Its width at the lugs is 24mm, while that at the buckle operates a dizzying reduction to 16mm. This is a big gap that gives it both undeniable comfort and a visual lightness that compensates for the large dimensions of the case. This bracelet benefits from innovations that are still rare on models in this price segment: a ratchet buckle and quick pumps with a button. These will allow you to mount another bracelet on the first fixed links, as for the buckle, it offers the possibility of adjusting the dimensions of the bracelet at any time, and without tools. On the wrist I can be accused of exaggerating a bit on the superlatives, but there is reason to! The Mille Mer, despite its weight and non-negligible dimensions, is really extremely comfortable to wear. I must also say that with one exception, all my other watches equipped with a steel bracelet tended to move and turn, as long as the bracelet was not very (or too) tight. This is not the case with the Mille Mer, whose balance has been carefully designed, so that it maintains its position without ever becoming annoying. Its thickness could hinder shirt sleeves that are a little too tight, as far as I am concerned I did the test and did not encounter this problem, but perhaps I was lucky. In any case, despite being an extreme diver, the Mille Mer knows how to be a jewel and will perfectly complement a suit or a more formal outfit. Conclusion To the extent that attention seems to have been paid to the smallest detail, that the quality seems to be there in every way, and that in addition the Mille Mer presents a unique identity that is recognizable from afar, I consider that it can be described as an exceptional watch. It will not please everyone due to its divisive design, but everyone I have been able to present it to has been absolutely ecstatic! This is the first born of the young Bohen brand, a brand that will have to be followed closely!
