The must-have Macro Loupe for all watch lovers

My first vintage! 50 years old, of course it's lived but in its belly not a wrinkle! It holds the bar very high compared to today's watches! Yes, yes, you read correctly. Its movement is mechanical and beats at 4hz. It has the chronograph, the day, the date and it is also Flyback. Its design is really atypical and it is emblematic. I managed to find one that belonged to a collector. It was revised and it is in excellent condition. I love its atypical line which is unlike any other watch.

The bull that hasn't said its last word

It was at the very beginning of 2025 that I came across an article about the famous Citizen Bullhead from the early 70s. I fell totally in love with it. I absolutely had to have one! My research had begun and I saw that Citizen had reissued this model in 2023. So I bought the special 50th anniversary edition model. Much more imposing than the original model with its 43mm. It fits well with my Thanos wrist. This model is an eco-drive in Titanium, which Citizen has mastered perfectly. Top-notch finishes, very comfortable to wear and impeccable finish. But I had to go in search of the iconic model right away.

The Bull-Headed Citizen

In the 2000s, Tissot had released the T-touch range which was fashionable. Then a few years later, the Sea Touch arrived. We saw it in all the advertisements. Being a diver, I rushed to acquire it. Indeed, it has a depth gauge, gives the ascent speed. Perfect to support my dive computer. In addition, it has a 2nd time zone, stopwatch, thermometer and compass. It has everything to please. It accompanies me to the 4 corners of the globe and in all the seas. Even after 15 years, it is my faithful companion for my holidays. To this day, it is far from being outdated and works like the first day.

The diving watch and more

I had the opportunity to acquire this watch in 2010. It was named "fusion of materials". Indeed, these materials are: ceramic, carbon fiber, steel and rubber which characterizes this watch. It is recognizable from very far away even for those who know little about watchmaking. It is very pleasant to wear despite its large size. The complications that characterize this watch are the date and the chrono. I like to look at it and it has a timeless look. I am won over!

The Big Bang that merges with matter

Until now, I had never had a Japanese watch. I came across this "Fujisubo" model by chance and I found that it had a beautiful story. Indeed, it is a reinterpretation of a watch that had been found in 1983 on a beach in Australia that was covered in small crustaceans and that was still working. This new version is even more interesting because it is made of titanium. I think it was Citizen who launched titanium on their watches. It is therefore very light and Citizen powered it with their caliber 9051 which is a good caliber. Unfortunately for me, I had bought it on the web and had not tried it before. Personally, I find that it does not fit my wrist. The result is therefore mixed. It is magnificent, light and its movement is very correct. I keep it and wear it from time to time to remind myself that it is essential to try before buying it.

Citizen Promaster "Fujitsubo"

Since 2023, I have had a buying fever. I stumbled upon the Alpina website and my eyes were hooked on this model. It has several complications that you don't see often! Chronograph with big date including a sub-dial that measures the tenth of a second. The movement is certainly in Quartz and it is very precise. The dial is very readable, worthy of an aviator's watch. For the finishes that this watch offers, it is really not worth its price. The details are truly incredible. I think that Alpina is really an underrated brand and has nothing to be ashamed of compared to the big Swiss brands.

Alpina Big date Chronograph 

In 2009, I wanted to buy an exceptional watch. So I went to IWC and wanted to acquire the Top Gun. The customer service was incredible and let me try several models. Finally, I came out with the Big Ingenieur with its impressive 7-day power reserve. In addition, its Pellaton manufacture movement was a real plus. It is very technical with its polished sapphire, you have the impression that there is no glass. It is imposing but it remains discreet. Why discreet? Because compared to Rolex or others, few people know this brand. This is a brand for connoisseurs. It is my favorite brand. I have owned it for all the years that I have had it, it is the one I wear the most. My watches that I own must be worn. It is in no way for investment. I will have to bring it back at the start of the school year to give it a major overhaul.

Imposing but discreet

I discovered it on an online site. I had already heard of this brand. I immediately fell for its flashy look and its bidirectional internal bezel. In addition, with a window on its heart was a plus. I love the dial and when the second hand turns, we see its shadow follow the hand. There is a feeling of internal volume that I love. Its water resistance to 300m is not left out. Despite a Myota movement, it is very precise. After a week, it lost less than 15 seconds. In short, I am totally a fan.

Original and very clear

I came across some articles this summer and I was immediately won over and decided to pre-order it. I only received it on December 24th. Its dial is beautiful as well as the finishes are exemplary. I love its retro and vintage look and its hybrid mechanism does not bother me at all. On the other hand, the only downside is that it is clearly too small and for a tool watch, it is clearly unusable. Let me explain, the tachometer markings are barely visible and really too small. Even if it remains a gadget, it should be usable. The watch case should have been larger so that it could be used. When I look at it and wear it, it looks like a watch for a 12-year-old. I think that watches are like clothes, you have to try them on before you buy. I have never worn it and I am going to part with it.

Beautiful but disappointed

I present to you the reissue of the famous NB6021 diver's challenge watch from the Citizen manufacturer. The Citizen Fujitsubo nicknamed like that because in 1977 a diver's challenge watch was lost on an Australian beach and a person found it in 1983 on the same beach not far from Sydney completely covered in crustaceans, barnacles (Fujitsubo in Japanese), marine crustaceans which, as adults, attach themselves to rocks and the hulls of boats. And the battered watch was still working 5 years later, I really like this watch in super titanium, a patent filed by Citizen, 5 times harder than steel and half as light, the Duratect process, a real diver in direct competition with the SPB143 62 Mas from Seiko. It is very comfortable to wear with a silicone strap that is supplied with the watch. It has a sapphire crystal and a diameter of 41mm and the famous high-end movement from Citizen, the caliber 9051. Its price is 650 euros.

La legendaire chalenge diver promaster titanium Fujitsubo

The ideal holiday watch. For less than €200 we have here an automatic watch, waterproof to 200m with screw-down crown. It is a real adventurer with its indestructible Miyota series 8 movement which proves to be quite precise. I had been looking for a diver's watch for quite some time for my collection but I didn't want to break the bank either. I hesitated a lot with the Mako 3 from Orient with which this watch is often put in competition in this price range. The advantage of the Orient is its sapphire crystal while the Citizen has a simple mineral crystal. What made me prefer the Promaster to its competitor is its design which I find more original. I particularly like its slightly "roots" notched bezel and I really like the integration of the date and day windows with a black background on a black dial. A little coquettishness, the crown at eight o'clock gives a really unique look to this diver's watch. The luminova is generous on the indexes and hands and proves to be very effective. A small Tropic instead of the silicone strap and off we go on an adventure! I was lucky enough to find this Promaster reference NY0040-09EE for less than €160 which is just unbeatable in terms of quality/price ratio.
