My first Japanese. Powered by sunlight, robust and waterproof to 200m, it makes it the perfect watch for going on an adventure. I was able to use it during my last adventures, from scuba diving to mountain climbing, it has never disappointed me. In addition, I am always amazed by the power of the luminescence which makes reading simplistic.

A symbol of exploration

I received this yellow Casio G-Shock as a gift during my vacation, and it quickly became much more than just a watch: it is my adventure partner. Whether for canoeing, jet skiing, fishing, or my intense sports sessions, it accompanies me everywhere, without ever failing. Its robustness is amazing: it has taken all the shocks without showing the slightest sign of weakness. I have even found myself underwater several times with it, and its waterproofness is impeccable. It's simple, I have never had to worry, it holds up in all situations.

And then, let's talk about its look! This bright yellow is a real favorite. Not only does it attract attention, but it also adds a touch of dynamism to all my outfits, whether in the middle of sports or on a daily basis.

In short, this G-Shock is much more than a watch, it is a real asset for all those who, like me, live their life at 100 miles an hour. A reliable, resistant, and stylish accessory that follows me everywhere. I can't do without it anymore...

The Yellow Diver

A birthday present from my parents for my 17th birthday, this chronograph watch has concretized a budding interest in watchmaking. A great gift for a gift to start in watchmaking, me who until then only had a Casio LCD and my phone. By dint of trying out these watches I got caught up in the game of trying to understand what mechanics could be hidden in these small objects. So I went to the brand's website to try to understand how the movement inside works. It's a hybrid between a battery-powered motor and a mechanical chronograph function called mecaquartz. Frankly I don't really care because it's beautiful, original according to my humble knowledge and above all very different from those I see at home. I'm lucky to have the steel bracelet in addition to the colored leather one that I don't like very much. The operation of changing the bracelet is nice but still a bit tedious... Moral: I almost exclusively wear it with the steel bracelet. The cherry on the cake is that, at 18 years old, my father often accuses me of it when we go on vacation.

My first mechanical watch

I am a big fan of vintage dive watches at a great price, and the LIP Super Nautic Ski is one of my favorites. I recently purchased mine and it already has a special place in my growing collection.

What I like most about this watch is its bold design for the time. The case is 42mm stainless steel, with a bi-directional rotating inner bezel and a black dial with luminescent hands and indices. It is a bit larger than most modern dive watches, but I find that this gives it a more imposing presence. The LIP Super Nautic Ski is also very robust and durable. It is water resistant to 200 meters, making it perfect for freediving and scuba diving.

This is all on paper because the indices have lost a lot of intensity and I obviously haven't done any water sports or diving because the water resistance must be average now! For now I haven't had to change the battery, it will come one day and I'm not worried about it.

I find it very elegant according to my personal criteria. It can be worn on all occasions in my engineering school or during the holidays. Jeans, a t-shirt, and my Super Nautic Ski. What else?

The rotating bezel: a detail that makes the difference

Another gift with this Charlie Concordia Toundra very different from my other watch - see my opinion on the SYE blue chronograph. More robust in appearance as well as in terms of feel, heavier in particular which I appreciate. I had the opportunity to swim with it this summer and it is a strange sensation made of excitement at the idea of not leaving it underwater and worry of seeing it take on water and ruining it. No risk it is waterproof to 300 meters ;-) What I appreciate most in this watch is its strange dial - I understood by reading the brand's website - that it represented the text of the snow... Being a fan of snowboarding it speaks to me. Last but not least, mine has a very nice engraving on the back which no longer seems to be offered by the brand.

Beautiful all-terrain watch

<p dir="ltr"><strong>Under the direction of Fred Lip</strong>, son of Ernest Lipmann, LIP enters a period of intense innovation. In 1933, the brand launched the model <a href="https://www.dialicious.com/en/lip/t18">Lip T18</a>, a rectangular wristwatch equipped with a high-precision movement. This model became emblematic and <strong>was offered in 1948 to Winston Churchill</strong> in recognition of his role during the Second World War.</p>

<p dir="ltr">After the liquidation of LIP in 1977, <strong>several attempts at revival were undertaken</strong>. In 1990, the businessman Jean-Claude Sensemat acquired the brand and successfully relaunched production, relying on modern marketing methods and reissuing iconic models. This watch should never have existed. Like all LIP Super Nautic-Ski, it is equipped with the Super Compressor case manufactured by Piquerez SA, one of the most efficient manufacturers of waterproof cases at the time. Things get complicated with the dial labeled "Les Industries de Palente" and not LIP. This watch, or at least the dial, dates from the period before the workers of the Besançon factory occupied the factories to protest against repeated social plans and the closure of the Palente factory. More than 3 years of social unrest from 1973 to 1977 led to the creation by LIP workers (the LIP) of several SCOPs aimed at producing watches - without the LIP brand - but with the brand's industrial assets. One of these SCOPs being "Les Industries de Palente". Even more surprising, this Super Nautic-Ski is called Nautic-Ski unlike the others bearing the LIP brand! Is it a service dial, a transition dial, a dial from another LIP Electronic model… I don’t know and that makes this watch even more attractive. It is equipped with the R184 caliber, a hybrid movement whose energy comes from a battery while integrating an almost traditional balance, balance spring, and anchor triptych… This is what I call a collector’s watch whose value is in line with the current trajectory of my very personal collection…

A piece of French watchmaking history
