Rolex Datejust 36 Owner Review : Simple, charming and efficient

I like this watch because it brings together everything I look for in a Rolex. Its simplicity, its timelessness, its design that spans the ages and has been around for 80 years now. Its rusticity too with this jubilee whose three central links are hollow and with this folded sheet metal buckle. It really breathes vintage. We find the oyster case, the automatic movement and the screw-down crown specific to the brand. We find this jubilee that matches incredibly well with this steel bezel and this particular finish on the 1603, 16030 and 16220. I wanted to have this little singular touch in the middle of this very widespread model. I really like this little detail that sets it apart from all the others. This plexiglass also gives it a crazy charm, a warmth that we do not find on the references with sapphire from the 90s. We will also note the cyclops which is much prettier with plexiglass I find than with sapphire. I did not like the cyclops at all before but with the plexi it is very pretty. Moreover, we still find what I like about this brand: design at the service of functionality. We are in the presence of a date, simple, effective with this cyclops which takes all its justification. Indeed, the reading of the date is immediate. Have you acquired a datejust? It will be read at a glance with this cyclops. We like it or we do not like it but I find that nothing protrudes, that each element is present to fulfill a function. It is a very pleasant feeling. We will also note the weight which is very light compared to modern watches. It really has its charm and it plays a lot in the pleasure when worn. I also like the quick date which is very satisfying to watch when it changes. The precision of the movement is also incredible. It loses about 2 to 3 seconds per day in normal, daily wear. It's crazy for a watch that dates from 1984. The beauty is 41 years old this year. We feel all the robustness and reliability of this 3035 movement with stop seconds (unlike its predecessor). The handling of this movement and its winding are very pleasant. I come to the major part of this model, its dial. A very particular cream white dial. The combo with the plexi is just crazy. This dial is quite rare and that gives it all its uniqueness. I am very happy to own this very special example. The plexi + white/cream dial combo is just incredible. Added to this is the tritium patina of the indexes and hands. The rendering is incredible. The aesthetics of an explorer 2 polar with tritium index in a contained diameter of 36mm. Pure happiness. I would have liked to push the vice by touching it on an oyster bracelet but I could not pass by this copy and finally the jubilee bracelet is very good and comfortable. I like it a little more every day. A year that I have it and I do not get tired of it for a single second. It is the best bridge between the modern and the pure vintage of the 4-digit references. In summary, a very precise movement to give the time, a fast date that is easily read with the cyclops. The crazy charm of vintage with this period bracelet and the plexiglass. A special touch with this steel bezel and this crazy dial sublimated by the patina of the tritium. We will note slight traces of oxidation on the hands which make it even more beautiful.
