Seiko 5 Sports Owner Review : Reliable, mythical and endearing

The Seiko 5s of yesteryear, whose references and variants are (almost) innumerable, have always had a lot to offer. This SNZH55, with its false airs of Blancpain "fiftyfive", is no exception to the rule. What seduces you as soon as you open the case, a soberly domed glass, vintage touch, a bezel insert that is also transparent. The case is polished except for the surface of the horns, few angles on the latter but it does not clash with the whole. The notched bezel is essential, fortunately well balanced with the dial. The latter is deep, glossy black. Underlined by the subtly polished and brushed applied indexes. The sword-style hands are well filled with lume. In the 7 years that I have owned it, it has seen just about everything, despite its non-screwed crown, snorkeling, the swimming pool and even the Thermal Baths have not done much to it. We will still regret the "Hardlex" glass which remains more fragile to scratches. Besides, it has hardly moved. For the investment made 7 years ago, nothing to be ashamed of! Powered by a 7s26 manufacture movement, day and date complication, the precision is in the average range. Nothing to say, we were well served at Seiko a few years ago.
