Here is the vintage that I bought myself for Christmas 2023 ;-) A LIP Electronique that had been catching my eye for quite some time but that didn't often go up for auction in this configuration with a round case and no handle... I call it my flying saucer... well, one of my flying saucers! I love its 70s look and its sunburst dial in a navy and electric blue. It flashes impressively in the sun. I promise I'll take pictures for you in all light conditions. The glass is in pitiful condition and will be changed very soon. As for the caliber, it's the classic LIP 184 electronic, not the most reliable on the planet and a big energy consumer, but quite a few watchmakers now know how to take care of it in the event of a problem. The case is really great with a side brushed polish that gives the feeling that the watch is going to take off! I'm exaggerating a little but I find the simple, refined and efficient design of the LIPs of this era. We are not far from a Seiko philosophy before the ambition of reading the time. The indexes are applied and I love that. It dresses the dial but above all it anchors this watch in its time. That is why I like what the French brand Apose is doing, which revisits this type of index. I bought it for âŹ150 excluding sales and transport costs, or around âŹ220 all-inclusive. Not the best deal I could get on electronic LIPs, but when you love something you don't count. And then, the act of purchase was also dictated by the fact that I was buying another LIP for my wife at the same time... a fantastic watch designed by Isabelle Hebey, the most brilliant and least known of the LIP designers of the time. If you are good at using the Dialicious platform, you will surely find - in the coming days or weeks - magnificent photos of this other LIP... LIP Forever and happy holidays 2023 đ
