The Black Bay 54 is the most representative example of the first TUDOR diver's watch, the reference 7922. The 37 mm case retains the same proportions as before, while benefiting from the TUDOR Manufacture Calibre MT5400 and water resistance to 200 m, technical feats.

HISTORICAL PROPORTIONS AND TECHNICAL PROWESS

The Black Bay 54 model is the model closest, aesthetically speaking, to the first TUDOR diver's watch, the reference 7922. Offered with a 37 mm case, it retains the general proportions of its source of inspiration while being equipped with the high-performance Manufacture Calibre MT5400 and water resistance to 200 m. A characteristic element and faithful to the aesthetics of the period, the unidirectional bezel does not have a minute graduation. However, the aesthetic details do not stop at the dimensions of the case and the bezel. The seconds hand, with its round luminous disc, evokes the appearance of the hand of the original model. The ergonomics have also evolved with a redesigned crown and bezel, but which nevertheless retain the historical spirit.

A DIVE INTO THE PAST

The spirit of Black Bay is part of the history of the brand. The Black Bay line has always highlighted iconic elements of old TUDOR diver’s watches, but the Black Bay 54 is perhaps the closest model to a specific historical piece created to date. The Oyster Prince Submariner reference 7922, one of the first modern diver’s watches, is a great source of inspiration since it is known to have been evaluated and then adopted by the French and American Navies as well as widely used by the pioneers of professional diving. The first versions of the reference 7922 featured a “small crown”, but not yet the red triangle at 12 o’clock, which would later become one of the brand’s signatures. These details gave it a refined and understated aesthetic. The Black Bay 54 is faithful to its model and takes up a large number of distinctive details. The minute hand, for example, in addition to adjusted proportions, is beveled at its base, as on the 1954 model. The second hand is as close as can be to the original. The profile of the bezel ring is also faithful to that of the reference 7922, as are the markings on its aluminum insert. The Black Bay 54 also features resolutely modern touches, such as a satin-sun dial and a “T-fit” clasp for a perfect fit and, of course, the Manufacture Caliber MT5400, a concentrate of high-performance watchmaking technology.

An atypical black background, Arabic numerals punctuate, five by five, the display of the minutes.

The case with a diameter of 40 millimeters that of the GMT and its smooth bezel are irremediably reminiscent of the Milgauss.

The design is directly inspired by the British project 'Bloodhound SSC'.

The racing car was more like a rocket propelled by no less than 135,000 horsepower!

Five essential improvements will reassure fans of the brand.

The crown protection or more precisely, as the press kit poetically describes it, "the shoulder of the crown protection". With it ends any possible comparison with the Milgauss line.

This key element propels the new Air-King directly into the world of Rolex ‘Oyster Perpetual Professionnelle’ watches.

The three-link Oyster bracelet is now equipped with the Oysterlock safety clasp with folding buckle, which, according to the brand, is “designed by Rolex and patented, preventing any involuntary opening. The oversized ’3-6-9’ numerals are retained while the ‘5’ minute marker perfects its integration with the addition of a ‘0’, creating an effect of symmetry with that of the ‘55’ minutes.

This ultimate Air-King is equipped with the caliber 3230, bringing together all of the brand's innovations and presented two years earlier.

Its 'Chronergy' escapement combines, in the brand's own words, "high energy efficiency with high operational safety".

The caliber 3230 thus defends a solid power reserve of 70 hours, facilitated by the new architecture of its barrel.

The thickness of the new case has been reduced from 13 to 11.7 mm.

The PRO ROLEX will say that this watch has no history and interest!!! we are talking about aviation ✈️ also an automobile project 🏎️!!!!!
But today it is a must-have in a collection for enthusiasts like me.

Wimbledon 2023: Rolex and Wimbledon 45 years of history

Rolex is indispensable to sport, whether it is golf, sailing, horse riding or tennis; as a sponsor, partner.

Rolex has been the official time transmitter of WIMBLEDON since 1978. The oldest Grand Slam in the world takes place in London for two weeks every summer and brings together the best players in the world on the famous green lawn.

The Rolex "Wimbledon"

There is of course a Rolex watch for this cooperation: the Rolex "Wimbledon". The Rolex Datejust II 116333 presented in 2009, holding its nickname for its special dial (colored in slate gray). The Roman numerals on it are black and surrounded by green - "wimbledongreen", which is at the same time reminiscent of Rolex and Wimbledon. At Baselworld 2016, a new version of Datejust appeared. The Ref. 126303 is also available with a Wimbledon dial. He even wore his Rolex “Wimbledon” at the award ceremony. The Rolesor model has a 41 mm case diameter and shines with its domed bezel. Its predecessor had a power reserve of 48 hours, which was extended to 70 hours with this new model. Equipped with a Rolex Manufacture movement caliber 3235, it is a faithful companion that combines traditional design with the latest technology – in the style of Rolex and Wimbledon.

BRITISH NORTH GREENLAND EXPEDITION The history of the Tudor Ranger is a matter of context in 1952, when the idea of the British North Greenland Expedition was formed and developed. Its objective?
