Why customers love ZRC?

I had already had a certain hype for the By Stef "1" then I had missed it with other projects and especially another Grand Fond in my collection. (A Spirit whose review I have already posted on Dialicious). I must admit for the anecdote that it was the second ZRC and always a more demanding expectation on a dial that I considered too wise. When the By Stef 2 project started I again came close to correction with another compulsive purchase 😊… and finally… Knowing Stéphane Clouzeau for a few years, I contacted him recently just after the opening night and I benefited from a cancellation. 24h delivery (Pithiviers is not very far from Paris where I live) From there, ZRC, for me - diver (or ex future diver) is also a story of passions, stories, strict specifications: passing through prestigious ambassadors: the Jacques Cousteau, divers / mine clearers of the Mediterranean ... A story that started 120 years ago and then a more hollow period like many brands and the resurrection. Of the 2000s which is not ephemeral seen from the window and this thanks to a committed CEO whose name is linked to the brand. I like divers for their readability, luminescence and resistance, especially those that keep an original and elegant design. This model, discovered at a watch fair, has all these qualities. Originally delivered with a black nylon strap and a leather one, I bought a steel strap in addition. An additional nylon was offered to me when I purchased it.

I wanted to introduce you to my latest watch, an iteration of the Grands Fonds 300, all dressed in black called Black Phantom released in 2016. It is therefore one of the first references reissued by ZRC, relaunched in 2015 by the descendants of the founders. For the specs, we have: Diameter of 40.5mm Sapphire crystal Screw-down crown, well protected by its positioning ETA 2824 grade 2 (elaborated) Thickness approximately 14mm My feelings The design of this watch is really original and has hardly changed in several decades but that is not what motivated my purchase. Above all, I like the Tank side with this aggressive monobloc case that gives it a presence on the wrist, the diameter of 40.5 mm is just right, I don't think it would take more. The placement of the crown is intended to protect it from shocks, I note that this adds great comfort to the wearer. The mirror polishing of the outline of the hands in reminder of the shine of the ceramic bezel elegantly matches the matte dial which displays shades of gray. We feel that the lume has been applied generously, the watch is very readable day and night, green C3 on the indexes and in the capsules of the unidirectional bezel with 60 clicks. A little extra for me, I like to have the date on my watches and the Black Phantom displays it at 3 o'clock but on a black date disc, a detail that does not make it visible in all circumstances but very discreet and does not disturb the harmony of the whole. An iconic watch by its design but stealthy in black it accompanies me everywhere now. There you go, I hope to be as complete as possible on this model, probably my favorite diver after the Deepstar. A fundamental piece in my collection now. Acquired recently second-hand, it was necessary to take a financial step for this GF Black Phantom from 2016 but I could not know the disappointment because its design had really marked me several years ago. Original and sober at the same time, this black monochrome version gives it an elegant and stealthy side as well. I love it!!

It was first the design that caught my attention. Then, it was the story. Finally, it was the fidelity to the original, right down to the bracelet, that finally made me decide to try it on to confirm my choice. When I tried it on at a distributor in Toulon, I was also able to try on the GF42163, but I found it far too thick and heavy. I didn't see the adjective, but the one that suits it best, in my opinion, is SHARP, given the sharp angles of the horns. The positives of my GF38 are the design, the extraordinary light, the comfortable and stretchy bracelet. The negatives are that you need a knack for closing the bracelet, and the downside of the protection is that the crown is not very accessible.

This ZRC Bronze limited to 170 copies is the same but enormously different from the other ZRCs, the hand-patinated brass dial is unique each time, the hands are also different from the other ZRCs, the Bronze which evolves and changes color over the years also has a unique side. This watch amazed me

Passionate and collector of diving watches, I cannot resist the attraction that the ZRC brand has on me (in my opinion among the most emblematic in this field). All the more so when the latter faithfully reissues a model that has marked its history: the GF38. A diver that fills me with joy with its contained dimensions, its vintage spirit, its robustness and its crazy charm. It has been a year that it accompanies me in my adventures and I never tire of it. I particularly like its magnum-type hands, its refined dial as well as its imposing crown at 6 o'clock (which reminds me of a goatee). I add a special mention to its sapphire crystal whose domed shape is to die for.

Already the owner of an MN64, I have been able to appreciate the quality of this watch for 3 years, which is why I fell for it when Stéphane Clouzeau received this limited series of 100 copies worldwide. This watch, created in partnership with Frédéric Presle for his adventure "return to Campana" in Chilean Patagonia in the footsteps of his ancestor, has a dial with exceptional reflections that makes it unique. Like all ZRCs, it is very technical, waterproof to 1000m, monobloc case, ceramic bezel, crown at 6 o'clock, ... Only its precision could be better (Sellita movement).

For a few years now, I have been looking for THE 3-hand diving watch that would stay on my wrist and that I would not get tired of after a few weeks. Among the contenders that I acquired and unfortunately did not stay: • the iconic submariner date and no date (more of a bucket list effect: yes I had them, but in the end meh) • the black and blue Tudor BB58: nice fashion effect but nothing more • a blue Bell&Ross diver: impeccable finish but the magic did not work for long • 2 green and blue hydroconquest: simple, effective but without emotion. Then finally I came across ZRC. I never took the plunge because the 41mm model is too imposing in my opinion. And this year the 39mm version came out. As usual, love at first sight in the photo and I went to try it in store. Confirmed by the test. It has a crazy charm and you feel like you have a NOS watch from the 60s. I love: the magnum hands, the lolipop seconds hand, the total symmetry with the crown at 6 o'clock (and the patented ZRC protection system), the bracelet with a link on each side equipped with a spring for diving, the hardware side of the bracelet with its archaic link attachment system from the 60s and finally the satellite indexes. The only downside is the use of this good old SW200 tractor. But hey, you can't have everything. In short, it's a little gem that has style and can announce to other divers: veni, vidi, vici.
