CIGA Design - History, Models and Owners' Reviews

Acquired at the end of 2019 via Indigogo, the process of acquiring a Chinese watch online via crowdfunding is not trivial for me. The atypical look (transparency and shape, ok, RM style…), the titanium (grade 2) (weight only 66gr), the price (less than €250 delivered, including 3 quick release bracelets: leather, rubber and Milanese) were the deciding factor, with the risk-taking ultimately limited! And of course, the essential sapphire crystal (front) protecting a Seagull automatic movement that is surprisingly regular and rather well adjusted for the package. 3ATM and dimensions of 40.9mm x 47.6mm x 12.3mm. So a watch whose thickness is visually important, one of the regrets, with the frequency of the movement (21600) not beneficial to the power reserve (40h).

Second watch from this quality Chinese brand that enters my collection after the Blue Planet. I was attracted of course by the design proposal and by this evolution of the original model which is now presented in titanium. Several small details explain the reasons why it won the "German Design Award" in 2020, such as the shape of the case which is "skeleton" on the sides with the 4 decorative screws, of course on its dial and the technical hands with red details. The brand name is repeated on the left side and on the right side we have a crown protector that fits very well. All this in a finally contained case of 41x48mm (almost without lugs) which sits well on my 17.5cm wrist and a special mention for the thickness of 12.4mm (rare on this type of model). Sapphire crystal perfectly integrated into the case Of course it is very light with its 53g, so it sometimes takes a little time to adapt, but in the end it is rather pleasant. Delivered with 2 bracelets that allow it to radically change style, the orange rubber (very good quality) being very sporty and the black leather (of quite good quality) on the contrary rather chic. Only regret the 3 ATM, but it is not too annoying either, you just have to think about it especially when you wear it with the rubber. If you like this design, let yourself be tempted by this model which is often offered at prices below €400

Although this brand is of Chinese origin, do not be fooled by prejudices, because this watch is not a discount watch. In fact, the brand has become so renowned that it even wins awards in our countries. As soon as I laid eyes on the Cigadesign Z-Series, I was captivated by its unique design and exceptional finishes. It is rare to find a watch of this quality at such an attractive price. Its imposing appearance does not go unnoticed, even by those who are not particularly interested in watchmaking.
